BEEP! BEEP!

0:00:460:00:47

Oh! Hello! Lovely to see you.

0:00:470:00:50

This is my marvellous maker-mobile. I've come out for a drive.

0:00:500:00:55

I wonder what we'll see today.

0:00:550:00:57

Ah! Tocky here!

0:00:570:00:59

Mini Maker message!

0:00:590:01:01

Hello, I'm Phoebe.

0:01:010:01:02

Hello, Phoebe! Can I help you today?

0:01:020:01:05

-Yes, please.

-I'll be right with you!

0:01:050:01:08

This must be the place.

0:01:250:01:27

Hello, Phoebe! How can I help you today?

0:01:300:01:33

Can you show me how to make a really colourful pattern?

0:01:330:01:37

A colourful pattern, eh?

0:01:370:01:39

To think up a colourful pattern,

0:01:390:01:41

we first need to do the colourful pattern dance!

0:01:410:01:44

Wait a minute! I know! Hang on.

0:01:490:01:51

Ah-ha! Coloured wool!

0:01:520:01:54

This has just given me a great idea.

0:01:540:01:56

Let's try something.

0:01:580:01:59

Try making something really colourful

0:01:590:02:02

by winding brightly coloured wool into a fantastic pattern.

0:02:020:02:06

BOTH: Let's make it!

0:02:080:02:10

But first we need somewhere to make it.

0:02:100:02:13

Ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:02:150:02:16

And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:02:160:02:20

I'll be back soon.

0:02:200:02:22

Some sticky tape and a glue stick.

0:02:270:02:29

We also need some card from a cardboard box

0:02:340:02:38

and I might need some help finding that. Ha-ha!

0:02:380:02:41

BEEP! BEEP!

0:02:410:02:42

Oh, Scraps! You must have heard me!

0:02:450:02:47

Oh, thank you, but this box is a little bit too small.

0:02:470:02:52

What I'm rally looking for is some cardboard from a big cardboard box.

0:02:520:02:56

-Do you think you could find that?

-Brrr!

0:02:560:02:59

Great! Here you go.

0:02:590:03:00

That's it. Go on.

0:03:000:03:02

BANG! CLANG!

0:03:020:03:05

Ah! That's more like it!

0:03:050:03:08

-Well done! Thank you, Scraps.

-Ah-la! Brrrr!

0:03:080:03:12

That's just what I was looking for.

0:03:120:03:15

And we also need some more coloured wool.

0:03:200:03:23

So, Phoebe, this is what we're going to make today.

0:03:250:03:28

It's a winder-ful woolly pattern. Ha-ha!

0:03:280:03:32

Get it? Winder-ful!

0:03:320:03:33

Because it's wonderful and we're going to be winding.

0:03:330:03:38

Hmm, anyway... Are you ready?

0:03:380:03:40

-Yeah!

-Great! Are you ready?

0:03:400:03:42

Brilliant! Let's get making.

0:03:420:03:45

The first thing we're going to do is cover our card in glue.

0:03:450:03:48

You can help, Phoebe.

0:03:480:03:51

Here's the card. Grab the glue stick

0:03:510:03:53

and get gluing because we'll colour it in with some coloured paper.

0:03:530:03:58

Thank you, Phoebe. Good job!

0:03:590:04:01

And now stick any colour of paper you like on top.

0:04:010:04:07

When the glue is dry, we can start to cut little shapes of the letter V

0:04:070:04:13

into the edges of the card.

0:04:130:04:15

This is a bit tricky so it's a good idea to ask an adult to help you.

0:04:150:04:19

make sure that you make these cuts into each edge of the card.

0:04:190:04:25

Make as many as you want, wherever you like.

0:04:250:04:28

But be careful. Scissors are...

0:04:280:04:30

Sharp!

0:04:300:04:31

That's right.

0:04:310:04:32

OK, we need our wool now, Phoebe. Which colour shall we choose?

0:04:390:04:44

-Blue, please.

-Blue, OK.

0:04:440:04:47

Here's some nice blue wool.

0:04:470:04:49

We'll place one end of the wool

0:04:490:04:51

into one of our cuts here.

0:04:510:04:55

Turn the card over

0:04:550:04:56

and stick it in place with some sticky tape.

0:04:560:05:01

Now if we turn the card over again, we can start winding.

0:05:020:05:06

The idea is to wind the wool from one V shape to the next

0:05:060:05:11

until you build up a pattern.

0:05:110:05:14

Keep winding around the card

0:05:140:05:17

until you're happy with how it looks.

0:05:170:05:20

Now we stick it down with sticky tape,

0:05:200:05:22

so turn it over and stick the end of the wool down.

0:05:220:05:26

Another colour of wool, please. Which colour shall we use?

0:05:260:05:30

Green.

0:05:300:05:31

Green. OK. Can you pass me the green wool? Wonderful.

0:05:310:05:35

If you use another colour of wool on top,

0:05:350:05:38

your pattern will look even better.

0:05:380:05:41

Before you start, stick down the end of the new wool.

0:05:420:05:46

And again, we're winding across the card

0:05:460:05:49

and the good thing about this idea

0:05:490:05:52

is that you can wind the wool in whatever pattern you like.

0:05:520:05:56

We're almost finished, Phoebe,

0:06:000:06:03

but first we need some sticky tape on the back. Can you do that?

0:06:030:06:07

Make sure it's all stuck in place. Well done.

0:06:070:06:11

Brilliant!

0:06:130:06:15

Let's have a look, shall we?

0:06:150:06:17

I think we are finished!

0:06:170:06:19

Well done! That is great!

0:06:190:06:22

If you enjoyed that, here are some other ideas.

0:06:220:06:25

This windy pattern is made of thick and thin coloured wool.

0:06:250:06:30

Or you could make a star-shaped one

0:06:300:06:33

using two pieces of square card stuck together like this.

0:06:330:06:37

Wonderful winding woolly patterns! Why don't you try one today?

0:06:370:06:42

-So, Phoebe, what do you think?

-Very good, Mister Maker.

0:06:420:06:46

We made it!

0:06:460:06:47

Now your home is where the art is. High-five!

0:06:470:06:50

Ha-ha! What a fantastic windy wool pattern.

0:06:520:06:55

-Well done, Phoebe. Bye!

-BEEP! BEEP!

0:06:550:06:58

Ahh... Ha-ha! I love being out and about in the maker-mobile.

0:06:580:07:02

The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and...

0:07:020:07:05

-BOING! BOING!

-Ha-ha!

0:07:050:07:07

-What's that noise?

-BOING! TWANG!

0:07:070:07:10

Oh! It's the Shapes!

0:07:100:07:14

# I am a shape

0:07:210:07:22

# I am a shape

0:07:260:07:27

# I am a circle

0:07:300:07:32

# I am a triangle

0:07:350:07:37

# I am a square

0:07:400:07:42

# I am a rectangle

0:07:450:07:47

# I am a shape

0:07:540:07:56

# I am a shape

0:07:590:08:01

# I am a shape

0:08:040:08:06

# I am a shape

0:08:090:08:10

# I am a rectangle. #

0:08:180:08:20

What are the rectangles making today?

0:08:220:08:25

Can you guess?

0:08:270:08:29

Any ideas yet?

0:08:350:08:37

It's a crocodile!

0:08:390:08:42

Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers.

0:08:420:08:46

-Whoo!

-Ooh!

-Ha-ha-ha!

0:08:480:08:50

Hee-hee-hee!

0:08:500:08:52

BEEP! BEEP!

0:08:520:08:53

Oh, I love driving the maker-mobile.

0:08:550:08:58

There are always so many interesting things to see.

0:08:580:09:02

Minute-make time!

0:09:020:09:04

Hey, it's minute-make time!

0:09:040:09:06

-I'm on my way!

-GEARS CRUNCH

0:09:060:09:09

I'm here!

0:09:200:09:23

Woah!

0:09:290:09:31

It's minute-make time, everyone!

0:09:310:09:33

THEY CHEER

0:09:330:09:35

We're going to make something brilliant.

0:09:350:09:38

Before we do, I'm going to water my favourite pot plant.

0:09:380:09:42

Oh, no! Look at it.

0:09:420:09:44

Oh, dear. That's a bit of a shame.

0:09:440:09:47

Do you know what I need?

0:09:470:09:48

I need a plant that doesn't need any watering.

0:09:480:09:51

Like this torn-paper plant.

0:09:510:09:54

You can make one of these in a minute. You will need...

0:09:540:09:59

Some sheets of coloured paper.

0:09:590:10:02

A small flowerpot.

0:10:020:10:04

A ball of modelling clay.

0:10:040:10:07

And that's it!

0:10:070:10:09

Do you think it's possible to make this torn-paper plant in one minute?

0:10:090:10:15

ALL: No way!

0:10:150:10:16

I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick.

0:10:160:10:20

But don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Ready?

0:10:200:10:24

ALL: Yeah!

0:10:240:10:26

Are you ready? Great!

0:10:260:10:28

Let's make it in a minute.

0:10:280:10:30

ALL: Three, two, one.

0:10:300:10:33

Start the clock.

0:10:330:10:35

We push our ball of modelling clay into our pot.

0:10:350:10:39

Then we get our three pieces of paper.

0:10:390:10:42

We're going to start tearing strips all the way down.

0:10:420:10:46

But we're not going to tear quite to the bottom.

0:10:460:10:50

To about there - that'll be good.

0:10:500:10:52

Let's tear out another piece.

0:10:520:10:55

Here.

0:10:550:10:57

All the way down.

0:10:570:10:59

These are going to be the curly leaves on our plant.

0:10:590:11:03

Another one down here. Tear that.

0:11:030:11:08

One to go, I think. A nice leaf here as well.

0:11:080:11:11

Very wavy and very curly.

0:11:110:11:15

Now...

0:11:150:11:17

we fold this round into a tube shape, like that.

0:11:170:11:22

We're going to stick it into our pot. In it goes.

0:11:220:11:26

If I do a bit of gardening,

0:11:260:11:28

I've got myself a torn-paper plant.

0:11:280:11:33

CHEERING

0:11:330:11:36

Phew! I made it.

0:11:360:11:38

There are lots of other ideas you could try.

0:11:380:11:41

How about this one, with brightly coloured paper flowers?

0:11:420:11:46

Or how about making one with paper cake cases for eyes?

0:11:460:11:51

Or you could even make a really big torn-paper plant

0:11:510:11:56

with a tropical flower.

0:11:560:11:59

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:11:590:12:03

Let's go back and take another look.

0:12:030:12:06

Push the modelling clay into the bottom of a plant pot.

0:12:060:12:10

Tear leaves into the green paper. Don't go all the way to the edge.

0:12:100:12:16

Roll it into a tube shape.

0:12:160:12:18

Push it into the plant pot.

0:12:180:12:20

And your torn-paper plant is finished.

0:12:200:12:23

Why don't you try and make it in a minute?! Goodbye, everyone!

0:12:240:12:29

ALL: Bye!

0:12:290:12:31

Now, where to next?

0:12:350:12:38

ALL: Hello, Mister Maker.

0:12:380:12:41

Oh, nice to see you.

0:12:410:12:43

Look what we're making today.

0:12:430:12:45

What ARE they going to make?

0:12:450:12:48

I am black.

0:12:500:12:52

I am orange.

0:12:550:12:56

I am grey.

0:12:590:13:01

I am pink.

0:13:240:13:27

I am green.

0:13:310:13:34

Well done, everyone. See you soon. Now watch this.

0:13:370:13:40

Hello! Are you ready... for a big surprise?!

0:13:430:13:48

Ha-ha!

0:13:480:13:50

These Mini Makers have no idea what their surprise is going to be.

0:13:500:13:56

-Hello!

-THEY GASP

0:13:560:13:59

Hello!

0:13:590:14:00

It's great to meet you! Now, do you all like cars?

0:14:000:14:05

-ALL: Yeah!

-Great! Me too!

0:14:050:14:08

ENGINE TICKS OVER, THEN STARTS

0:14:080:14:11

-Woah!

-TYRES SCREECH

0:14:110:14:13

TYRES SQUEAL, GEARS CRUNCH

0:14:170:14:19

HANDBRAKE SQUEAKS

0:14:230:14:24

That was great fun! And it's given me a big idea.

0:14:240:14:29

I think we should make a big car! Will you help me?

0:14:290:14:33

ALL: Yeah!

0:14:330:14:34

Fantastic! All right, then.

0:14:340:14:36

Mirko, Kahlil, Nasra, Hamdi and Hamda, let's make it!

0:14:360:14:40

Right, we're going to make a big car.

0:14:400:14:43

-What do you find on a car, Mirko?

-Steering wheel and brakes.

0:14:430:14:49

And mirrors.

0:14:490:14:50

Brilliant! Steering wheel, brakes, mirrors.

0:14:500:14:54

We should paint our car a bright colour. What colour do you think?

0:14:540:14:59

Purple.

0:14:590:15:01

-Blue.

-Blue!

0:15:010:15:02

-Yellow.

-Yellow.

-Red.

-Red!

0:15:020:15:05

I think we should paint our car red!

0:15:050:15:08

What a good idea.

0:15:080:15:10

I think we're ready to make our car, aren't we?

0:15:100:15:14

ALL: Yeah!

0:15:140:15:15

Come on - let's make it.

0:15:150:15:17

'We can use boxes to make the shape of our car.

0:15:170:15:20

'There's a lot of things to paint.'

0:15:220:15:25

What are we painting?

0:15:320:15:34

Well, we're painting some hedges, a terrific tree, and a hill.

0:15:340:15:40

We're having great fun making our big car.

0:15:440:15:47

Why don't you try making a little one at home?

0:15:470:15:51

Try making a brilliant little box car.

0:15:530:15:56

Make it, play with it, have fun with it! To make one, you will need...

0:15:560:16:00

An empty tissue box. Coloured paper. Black paper.

0:16:000:16:05

Plastic lids. A glue stick. White paper.

0:16:050:16:08

Stickers. And a black pen.

0:16:080:16:11

First, take some coloured paper

0:16:110:16:14

and wrap it around an empty tissue box.

0:16:140:16:18

Tape it into place.

0:16:180:16:21

Now take a black rectangle of paper and fold the edge up, like this.

0:16:210:16:26

Turn the paper over and then fold it back again.

0:16:260:16:30

Keep going until you reach the end of the paper.

0:16:300:16:33

If you find this difficult, ask an adult to help you.

0:16:330:16:37

Now glue this to the end of the box.

0:16:370:16:40

Stick a white paper rectangle in front of it.

0:16:440:16:49

Next, glue a long strip of black paper around the bottom of the box.

0:16:520:16:57

Then tape a clear plastic lid onto the front of the box,

0:17:010:17:06

for a windscreen. Like this.

0:17:060:17:09

Now use four round lids for the wheels.

0:17:090:17:13

Stick them on both sides of the car.

0:17:130:17:16

Add more details using stickers,

0:17:180:17:22

scrap paper,

0:17:220:17:24

and a black pen.

0:17:240:17:28

And when you're happy with your car, you can play with it!

0:17:280:17:32

ENGINE STARTS UP

0:17:320:17:35

What a lovely way to make a little car. Why don't you give it a go?

0:17:350:17:39

Now, how are we getting on here?

0:17:390:17:41

-Great!

-Good. Would you like some help?

0:17:410:17:44

-Yes.

-OK.

0:17:440:17:46

Come on, everybody, let's make the grass.

0:17:510:17:53

Let's get the tubes up, come on, onto the car.

0:17:580:18:02

GIGGLING AND LAUGHTER

0:18:020:18:05

We did it! Hooray!

0:18:090:18:10

CHEERING

0:18:100:18:12

Nearly finished. There we go.

0:18:120:18:15

Well done, everyone!

0:18:150:18:17

ALL: We made it! Yay!

0:18:170:18:20

ENGINE STARTS UP

0:18:240:18:26

What a lovely day for a drive.

0:18:260:18:29

BEEP! BEEP!

0:18:290:18:32

Mr Maker! Time to go!
