Hello, and happy Christmas!

0:00:470:00:49

I'm out and about in my marvellous Makermobile.

0:00:490:00:53

I get so excited at this time of year.

0:00:530:00:55

Tocky, here!

0:00:550:00:57

Mini Maker Message.

0:00:570:00:59

Hello, I'm Connie.

0:00:590:01:01

Hi, Connie, and happy Christmas! Do you need some help?

0:01:010:01:05

Yes, please, Mister Maker.

0:01:050:01:08

I'm on my way.

0:01:080:01:10

-Ho, ho!

-Did you see that?! Ooft...

0:01:120:01:17

Here we are.

0:01:220:01:24

Hello, Connie. It's lovely to meet you, and happy Christmas!

0:01:270:01:32

Happy Christmas.

0:01:320:01:34

-Would you like to make a Christmas picture?

-Yes, please.

0:01:340:01:38

No problem. I love Christmas,

0:01:380:01:40

and I like playing in the Christmas weather.

0:01:400:01:43

ZAP!

0:01:430:01:45

Ah, wow! It's snowing! Right on cue,

0:01:450:01:48

and this has just given me a great idea.

0:01:480:01:52

Let's try something.

0:01:520:01:53

-DING!

-Try making a sparkly snow picture

0:01:530:01:58

using glitter and flour for a brilliant Christmassy effect.

0:01:580:02:03

Let's make it! Now, it's not snowing any more, Connie, but don't worry.

0:02:040:02:09

It'll snow in our picture. Oh, that reminds me.

0:02:090:02:12

We need somewhere to make it.

0:02:120:02:14

Ha-ha! And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:02:170:02:22

I'll be back soon.

0:02:220:02:23

Some paper or card...

0:02:260:02:28

..some white flour and some gloopy PVA glue...

0:02:310:02:36

..a brush and some bowls.

0:02:410:02:43

Where have I put my glitter? Maybe Scraps has got it.

0:02:460:02:52

-SCRAPS MUMBLES

-Oh, Scraps,

0:02:520:02:55

you look very Christmassy!

0:02:550:02:57

-SCRAPS MUMBLES

-Now, have you got any glitter?

0:02:570:03:01

Oh, thank you. Oh, here we go.

0:03:010:03:05

Oh, well done. Thank you, Scraps.

0:03:050:03:08

Oh, and Scraps? Happy Christmas.

0:03:080:03:11

Ha-ha-ha! Have a lovely day. Bye!

0:03:110:03:14

We need a pen and some scissors...

0:03:220:03:25

..and we also need a sieve and some water.

0:03:280:03:32

OK, then, Connie.

0:03:320:03:33

Let's make a sparkly snow picture, like this one here.

0:03:330:03:38

-Wow, very sparkly and very snowy. Are you ready, Connie?

-Yeah.

-Good.

0:03:390:03:45

Are you ready? Fantastic! Let's get making.

0:03:450:03:50

Now, first we need three sheets of paper that are the same size.

0:03:500:03:54

It looks good if one of them is a dark colour.

0:03:540:03:57

This will be our background paper, Connie.

0:03:570:04:00

Let's put it to one side, and on the other two sheets of paper,

0:04:000:04:04

we're going to do some drawing.

0:04:040:04:06

So, on this first piece, let's draw a wavy hill shape.

0:04:060:04:10

And we can also draw a Christmas tree shape on top.

0:04:130:04:17

There we are. Can you look after that? Thanks very much.

0:04:170:04:21

And on the other sheet, we're going to start near the bottom, here.

0:04:210:04:25

And I'm going to draw another wavy hill shape,

0:04:250:04:29

and on the top of that, let's draw the shape of a snowman.

0:04:290:04:34

Now, cut along the lines we've just drawn on both pieces of paper.

0:04:340:04:38

-Be careful with scissors, because they are...

-Sharp.

0:04:380:04:42

That's right. Let's get cutting, Connie.

0:04:420:04:45

Now, we only need the top part of each picture.

0:04:520:04:56

Let's put them to one side,

0:04:560:04:58

because it's time for us, Connie, to do some mixing.

0:04:580:05:02

Could you please put three spoons of flour into a bowl?

0:05:020:05:08

Now add a sprinkle of glitter

0:05:080:05:11

and give it a stir.

0:05:110:05:14

Well done, Connie.

0:05:160:05:17

And now, in the other bowl,

0:05:170:05:20

we're going to make a very special gloopy mixture

0:05:200:05:24

that's made up of half gloopy glue

0:05:240:05:27

and half water.

0:05:270:05:29

Well done, Connie.

0:05:320:05:34

Let's bring back in our background paper

0:05:340:05:38

and put our hill and Christmas tree shape on top.

0:05:380:05:42

Then cover the Christmas tree and the edge of the hill

0:05:420:05:46

in the gloopy glue mixture.

0:05:460:05:49

Like this.

0:05:500:05:52

And now, we need to use a sieve.

0:05:530:05:57

Now, you might want to ask an adult to help you find one.

0:05:570:06:01

I need your help again, Connie.

0:06:010:06:03

Can you put some mixture in here, please?

0:06:030:06:06

And I'm going to sprinkle it

0:06:060:06:09

all over...the gloopy glue.

0:06:090:06:13

There we go.

0:06:130:06:14

Now, if we take off our cut-out hills shape...

0:06:140:06:19

Wow! We can see that the floury mixture

0:06:200:06:25

has stuck to all the gloopy glue.

0:06:250:06:28

Well, Connie, what do we need now?

0:06:280:06:31

-A snowman.

-A snowman, of course we do.

0:06:310:06:34

So let's carefully place the snowman shape on top and do the same again.

0:06:340:06:40

It's time to gently peel away our cut-out shape.

0:06:400:06:46

-POP!

-Wow. We've finished.

0:06:470:06:49

Now, just leave it to dry and we've made a super, sparkly snow picture.

0:06:490:06:54

And you can use sparkly flour

0:06:540:06:56

to make all kinds of Christmas pictures.

0:06:560:06:59

How about a snowman family, with gold glitter?

0:06:590:07:03

Or you could try a sparkly picture of a Christmas cottage.

0:07:050:07:10

Sparkly snow pictures are great fun. Why don't you try one today?

0:07:100:07:15

Here you go, Connie. Happy Christmas. We made it!

0:07:150:07:19

And now your home is where the art is. High five! Ha-ha!

0:07:190:07:24

What a fantastic sparkly flour picture.

0:07:240:07:28

Well done, Connie, and happy Christmas. Bye!

0:07:280:07:32

Ho-ho! There's nothing like a hot drink

0:07:320:07:35

to keep you warm in the wintertime.

0:07:350:07:38

-CLATTERING AND GIGGLING

-What's that noise?

0:07:380:07:41

It's coming from the Doodle Drawers.

0:07:410:07:43

-Yay!

-Hooray!

0:07:460:07:48

I am a shape.

0:07:500:07:52

I am a shape.

0:07:560:07:58

I am a circle.

0:08:000:08:02

I am a triangle.

0:08:050:08:07

I am a square.

0:08:090:08:12

I am a rectangle.

0:08:150:08:17

I am a shape.

0:08:240:08:26

I am a shape.

0:08:290:08:31

I am a shape.

0:08:340:08:37

I am a shape.

0:08:380:08:41

I am a square.

0:08:470:08:50

How many squares can you see?

0:08:510:08:55

One.

0:08:550:08:57

Two.

0:08:570:08:59

Three.

0:08:590:09:01

Four.

0:09:010:09:04

Five!

0:09:040:09:06

There are five squares. Ho-ho-ho!

0:09:060:09:10

Well done, shapes. It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers.

0:09:100:09:15

-Hee-hee!

-Woo-ha-ha!

0:09:150:09:18

Thank you, shapes, and merry Christmas.

0:09:180:09:22

# We wish you a merry Christmas

0:09:220:09:25

# We wish you a merry Christmas And a ha...ooh! #

0:09:250:09:28

TOCKY YELLS Minute-make time!

0:09:280:09:31

Oh, it's Christmas minute-make time!

0:09:310:09:35

I'm here.

0:09:470:09:49

Happy Christmas! It's Christmas minute-make time, everyone.

0:09:530:09:59

CHEERING

0:09:590:10:01

And I need something to wear to the Doodle Drawer Christmas party.

0:10:010:10:05

Oh, I know. Ha-ha! Look at this!

0:10:050:10:08

It's a Christmas reindeer headband.

0:10:080:10:11

Look, I look just like Rudolph!

0:10:110:10:14

Ooh. O-o-o-h.

0:10:140:10:16

Ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:10:160:10:18

And we can make one of these in just one minute, by using these things.

0:10:180:10:24

Some sticky tack, a pen, a pair of scissors, a headband

0:10:240:10:30

and a rectangle of craft foam.

0:10:300:10:32

Do you think it's possible to make this

0:10:320:10:35

Christmas reindeer headband in just one minute?

0:10:350:10:38

No way!

0:10:380:10:40

Let's find out. I'll be very quick,

0:10:400:10:43

but I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:10:430:10:47

Yeah!

0:10:470:10:48

Are you ready? Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute.

0:10:480:10:52

Three...two...one...go!

0:10:520:10:55

Start the clock!

0:10:550:10:57

The first thing we'll do is get our craft foam and fold it in half

0:10:570:11:01

and then draw an antler shape, like this.

0:11:010:11:05

Then we'll get some scissors and cut this shape out.

0:11:100:11:13

-We need to be careful because they are...

-Sharp!

0:11:130:11:17

That's right. This is quite fiddly,

0:11:170:11:19

so you might want to ask an adult to help you.

0:11:190:11:23

Now, this is going to make a lovely antler shape for us.

0:11:230:11:27

And then if you open them out, we've got two lovely antlers.

0:11:300:11:35

Let's get our headband, and stick the antlers onto the headband

0:11:350:11:39

using sticky tack. One blob on there.

0:11:390:11:43

Let's squish that over like that,

0:11:430:11:45

and then another blob of sticky tack on that side there

0:11:450:11:50

and we can squidge it on

0:11:500:11:52

and we've made a Christmas headband!

0:11:520:11:55

Yeah!

0:11:550:11:58

Phew! I did it, and if you've got more than a minute,

0:11:580:12:01

you can add glue or sticky tape to the back of your antlers

0:12:010:12:05

to really hold them in place,

0:12:050:12:07

and you could try other Christmassy ideas.

0:12:070:12:10

What about this Christmas holly headband,

0:12:100:12:13

with green sparkly leaves and red pom-poms for berries?

0:12:130:12:17

Oh, or you could use pipe cleaners

0:12:170:12:20

to make this sparkly snowflake headband.

0:12:200:12:23

Ho-ho! Or you could use a sparkly pipe cleaner

0:12:230:12:27

and star to make this one.

0:12:270:12:30

Wow. It would look great on top of a Christmas tree. Ha-ha!

0:12:300:12:34

This is a great idea!

0:12:340:12:36

I can go to the Doodle Drawer Christmas party dressed like this.

0:12:360:12:40

Christmas headbands, made in a minute.

0:12:400:12:44

Why don't you try it?

0:12:440:12:46

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:12:460:12:49

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:12:490:12:53

Fold a piece of craft foam in half, draw on an antler shape,

0:12:530:12:57

carefully cut it out to make two antlers.

0:12:570:13:00

Stick them on a headband with sticky tack

0:13:000:13:04

and your reindeer antlers are finished.

0:13:040:13:07

Why don't you try and make it in one Christmas minute?

0:13:090:13:13

It's time for me to go,

0:13:130:13:14

but thank you for being part of another minute-make.

0:13:140:13:18

-Happy Christmas and goodbye!

-Bye!

0:13:180:13:22

# Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way

0:13:240:13:28

# Oh, what fun it is to ride In a...oh! #

0:13:280:13:31

-TINKLING

-Hello, Mister Maker.

0:13:310:13:35

Oh, hello, and happy Christmas!

0:13:350:13:38

Look what we're making today.

0:13:380:13:40

I wonder if it's something Christmassy.

0:13:400:13:43

I'm dark blue.

0:13:450:13:48

I am green.

0:13:500:13:52

I am grey.

0:13:580:14:01

I am red.

0:14:040:14:05

It's a Christmas cracker!

0:14:160:14:20

Well done, everyone. See you soon.

0:14:200:14:24

(Hello! Are you ready...)

0:14:260:14:28

for a big surprise?

0:14:280:14:31

These Mini Makers aren't expecting me.

0:14:330:14:36

Hello! Oh, my friends,

0:14:360:14:39

it's lovely to meet you. And happy Christmas!

0:14:390:14:43

Happy Christmas!

0:14:430:14:45

How about we make a big Christmas tree?

0:14:450:14:49

Yeah!

0:14:490:14:51

Fantastic! All right, then,

0:14:510:14:53

Cerys, Calum, Ben, Kakasha and Sabira, let's make it!

0:14:530:14:59

Now, Mini Makers, we're going to make a big Christmas tree.

0:14:590:15:03

-So what should it look like?

-Triangle, and coloured in green.

0:15:030:15:07

-In green? What could we use to make our Christmas tree?

-That!

-Oh, a box!

0:15:070:15:12

That's fantastic. Well done.

0:15:120:15:14

Now, do we need to decorate our tree?

0:15:140:15:17

-Yes!

-Oh, OK. What with?

0:15:170:15:20

-Glitter.

-Glitter, oh, that would look really pretty, wouldn't it?

0:15:200:15:24

-Now, what can we put at the bottom of our tree?

-Presents.

-Presents!

0:15:240:15:29

-What should be in our Christmassy sky?

-Snowflakes!

0:15:290:15:33

Snowflakes. Could we use paper to make them?

0:15:330:15:36

-Do you think so?

-Yeah.

0:15:360:15:37

-I think we're ready aren't we?

-Yeah!

0:15:370:15:40

Come on, then. Let's make it!

0:15:400:15:43

We're making decorations.

0:15:430:15:45

LAUGHTER

0:15:480:15:51

I'm making a Christmas tree.

0:15:510:15:54

I'm wrapping presents.

0:15:540:15:56

We're making snowflakes.

0:15:580:16:01

And here's our Christmas background.

0:16:030:16:05

This big surprise has been great fun so far,

0:16:050:16:09

so why don't you join in and make your very own Mini Make?

0:16:090:16:14

Make your Christmas tree look brilliant

0:16:140:16:17

with a super snowman decoration.

0:16:170:16:20

You will need kitchen foil, some water, ribbon and a pom-pom,

0:16:200:16:26

tissue paper, a bottle top and craft foam, glue and stickers,

0:16:260:16:32

a pen and a brush.

0:16:320:16:34

First, make a loop with a piece of ribbon

0:16:340:16:37

and lay it on the top edge of a piece of kitchen foil.

0:16:370:16:41

Tape it in place, like this.

0:16:410:16:44

Next, scrunch the kitchen foil up into a ball,

0:16:440:16:47

leaving the loop of ribbon hanging out.

0:16:470:16:50

Now make a mixture that's half gloopy glue and half water.

0:16:500:16:54

Paint the gluey mixture over the foil ball,

0:16:540:16:58

and cover it in pieces of tissue paper and leave it to dry.

0:16:580:17:03

Next, glue a plastic lid to a circle of craft foam

0:17:030:17:06

and stick it onto the decoration to make the snowman's hat.

0:17:060:17:11

Now use stickers and a pen to make eyes, like this.

0:17:110:17:17

Add more stickers for a smile

0:17:180:17:22

and a coloured pom-pom for a nose.

0:17:220:17:26

-Your super snowman decoration is finished...

-Hee-hee!

0:17:260:17:31

..and ready to hang up.

0:17:310:17:34

Why don't you try to make your very own Christmas decorations?

0:17:340:17:39

But right now, let's see how our Mini Makers are getting on.

0:17:390:17:43

Right, mind out of the way! Christmas tree coming through.

0:17:430:17:47

LAUGHTER

0:17:470:17:51

Merry Christmas, everyone. We made it!

0:17:580:18:02

Yeah!

0:18:020:18:04

That looks great, doesn't it? But it's not quite finished.

0:18:050:18:09

Pssst. I'm up here! It's only me again.

0:18:090:18:12

I'm the Christmas maker fairy.

0:18:120:18:15

TINKLING

0:18:150:18:17

What a wonderful Christmassy picture.

0:18:170:18:21

# Fa-la-la-la-la la la la la. #

0:18:230:18:26

What a lovely Christmas adventure we've had.

0:18:260:18:29

My making time's over, but yours is just beginning.
