Oh, it's a tub full of bits of junk and old toys. Let's have a look.

Oh, yes! There's lots of lovely colourful pieces here.

If you arrange them together, you can make shapes.

Ha ha! This has just given me a great idea. Let's try something.

Try making a giant junk letter that's really colourful.

-BOTH:

First, we'll need somewhere to make to make it.

Ho ho! And we'll need some things from the doodle drawers.

Hold these, please. I'll be back soon.

A piece of paper or card and a pen.

A bowl and some gloopy PVA glue.

We also need a brush.

I wonder if Scraps can help.

Oh, Scraps, I couldn't borrow your brushes, could I, please?

Oh, well done, Scraps! That's perfect! Here we go.

Thank you very much. OK, have fun painting.

We also need some pom-poms, some wool and some colourful beads.

OK, then, Bea. Let's make a junk letter, like this one here.

Look, it's in the shape of the capital letter M.

M for me, Mister Maker. But you can make whatever junk letter you like.

-All right then, Bea. Are you ready?

-Yes!

-Ha ha!

Are you ready? Fantastic! Let's get making.

The first thing is to draw a big letter onto a piece of card.

Now we're going to cover this shape in a thick layer of gloopy glue.

Next, stick down lots of different bits of junk, old toys,

beads, building blocks, anything really. Let's get sticking.

I'm going to go for a spoon first. A cotton reel. That's a good idea.

-Is there something blue in there, Bea?

-Yes.

-Oh, perfect. Well done.

Let's stick that there.

Make sure you fill in the whole letter. Like this.

It's looking good already, but to finish it off,

let's stick some wool around the edge of our letter.

We can leave this to dry, which will give you time

to do something completely different. Mini Sing-Song!

Woah! It's dry! It's a fantastic junk letter.

And you can make all kinds of junk letters and shapes.

How about making the first letter of your name? Look, it's a B for Bea,

made with buttons, pom-poms, toys and beads.

Or how about making a number, like this number 2,

made with blue and purple bits and bobs?

Or you could even make a shape, like this shiny star,

with sparkly pom-poms, sequins and shiny things.

Junk letters, a great way to reuse some old toys

and junk from around the house.

Aw, this is a lovely day for a drive out in the Makermobile, isn't it?

Minute Make Time!

Hey, it's Minute Make Time! I'm on my way!

Here we are.

It's Minute Make Time, everyone!

-DRUMS PLAY

-Oh, that's got a really good beat.

Come on, everyone. Let's dance.

Great dancing. If you like to dance to the beat of the drum,

you'll love today's Minute Make.

It's a dinky drum.

Ha ha! Look at that!

If you'd like to make one, here's what we'll need.

A pencil, some scissors, a rubber band,

some modelling clay, a glue stick,

an empty pot, a rubber glove and a rectangle of wrapping paper.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this...

dinky drum in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Well, I think I can, but I'll have to be very quick.

Don't worry. I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-ALL: Yes!

Are you ready? Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute!

-ALL: Three, two, one...

-Start the clock!

Get our rubber glove and scissors

and very carefully cut this part of the rubber glove off.

-We need to be careful with scissors. They are...

-Sharp!

We're going to snip down here, so we get one flat piece like that.

We're going to put the rubber on top and get our rubber band

and put it over the top like that.

Get our scissors and carefully just trim off all the extra bits.

I'm going as quick as I can.

You might want to take your time over this. There we go.

Now I need to get the wrapping paper and put some glue on that edge.

And that edge. And then I can wrap it round my pot.

Wrap it round and round like that.

Then I need the modelling clay and push it carefully

onto the pencil and that's the beater for our dinky drum.

A dinky drum, made in a minute.

If you've got more than a minute, you can try all sorts of ideas.

How about a spotty, flowery one?

Or this one, with zig-zags and a multicoloured beater?

Dinky drums, made in a minute. Why don't you try it?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's take another look.

Carefully cut a piece of rubber from a rubber glove.

Stretch it over the pot, like this. Hold it in place with a rubber band.

Trim off the extra bits of rubber, stick wrapping paper around the pot.

Push a ball of modelling clay onto a pencil for a drum stick

and your dinky drum is finished!

Instead of catching something, why don't we make something?

-I think we should make a big seaside crab. Will you help me?

OK, let's go.

We're making rocks.

These are the waves.

And this is the blue sky.

This big surprise has been great fun so far,

so why don't you join in and make your very own Mini Make?

Reuse an old egg box and try making a cute cardboard crab.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it!

You will need some paint, some glue, cardboard tubes, an old egg box,

sticky tape, stickers, tissue paper, scissors, a pen and a paint brush.

To make the crab's arms, take four small cardboard tubes.

Then flatten one end of each tube.

For each arm, cut a V shape into the flattened end of one tube

to make a pincer.

Then push another tube into it, like this.

And tape it all together.

Now do the same with the other tubes to make another arm.

Glue both arms to the sides of the egg box.

And paint the crab any colour you want.

When it's dry, add some details with a pen.

Some dots, and a mouth!

Then screw up two balls of tissue paper for eyes.

Add stickers for pupils.

And stick them onto the crab.

Your cute crab is finished and ready to play with.

What a lovely little crab! I love his big eyes.
