The great thing about the Makermobile is it can go anywhere.

-Can we make a colourful picture?

-We can make a colourful picture.

We need to think of an idea.

Sometimes when I need to think, I go for a run.

All right, Ted, there's your headband. One lap around the garden.

Let's go! Oh, he's gone already. Right!

I'm going to have a quick drink. OK.

GURGLING NOISE

That's better.

Wow! Wait a minute, Ted.

Drinking from this squeezy bottle has given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try squeezing powder paint to make a really colourful picture.

-BOTH: Let's make it.

-But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Wow! And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

I'll be back soon.

Some gloopy PVA glue and some water.

A large sheet of card.

A sheet of paper, some brushes and a bowl.

Wow! Watch my hair, Doodle Drawers!

Do you know, sometimes Doodle Drawers are no help whatsoever.

But I know somebody who is.

HORN

Scraps! We need clean, empty washing up bottles.

-Do you know where they are?

-Hmm-hey! Hmm-hey!

Good. There's one. Good, two.

Good boy, thank-you very much, Scraps.

Bye!

And we also need some brightly coloured powder paints.

OK then, Ted,

let's make a colourful powder paint picture like this one here.

Wow! Look at that. It looks like a firework display.

-All right then, Ted, are you ready?

-Yes.

-Good. Are you ready? Fantastic.

Let's get making. Now this can get a little bit messy

so it's a good idea to put on some old clothes or an apron.

Follow me, Ted. A-ha! There we are, we are ready.

It's time to make a very special gloopy mixture

made up of four good squirts of gloopy glue and a splash of water.

We need to give this a really good stir.

-Can you help with that?

-Yes.

Well done, Ted.

Let's use a big brush to paint the mixture

over a large sheet of card and put it to one side for a moment.

There. Now we are going to pour our powder paint

into our washing up bottles.

An easy way of doing this is to roll up a piece of paper into a funnel.

And then we are going to put the paper funnel

into the top of a bottle like that.

And very carefully pour the powder paint into the bottle

and we're done.

You can do this for as many bottles as you like.

Remember to use a different bottle for each colour paint.

It's time to bring back in our card that's covered in gloopy mixture

and we can make our picture by squeezing the bottles like this

and puffing out the paint.

Wow! Look how the paint has stuck to the gluey paper.

All right then, Ted, get ready. Away you go.

Woah! Well done, Ted!

Look at that! It's good isn't it? OK, pass the blue.

Waw! Ha-ha, look at that! We're all finished.

Well done, Ted!

-I think we can have even more fun, don't you?

-Yes.

I think so. Let's make a big painting together.

Now, this can get a little bit messy.

We'll need a really big piece of paper.

Lots more powder paint and our gloopy glue mixture.

OK then, Ted. Let's make it! Let's go!

Look at that! We did it!

-Do you like our colourful picture, Ted?

-Yeah.

Brilliant. We made it. And now your home is where the art is. High 5.

Today we are going to make...

GIGGLING

What's that noise? Can you hear that? Who's laughing?

Who is it? I know who's laughing!

It's our feathered finger friend

and you can make one in just one minute

by using the fingers of an old rubber glove.

You will need a pen, a feather, some scissors, some cotton wool balls,

a ball of modelling clay, a glue stick.

We'll also need some googly eyes.

You can find these in an art and craft shop. I'll be back very soon.

I've got them. Here are our googly eyes.

Now, do you think we can make this feathered finger friend in a minute?

No way!

Let's find out. I'm going to have to be very quick.

But don't worry. I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-Yes!

-Are you ready? Brilliant.

-Let's make it in a minute!

-Three, two, one, go!

Right, the first thing we're going to do is

get our rubber glove and some scissors,

and we're going to carefully cut one of the fingers off like that.

-Now we need to be careful with scissors because they are...

-Sharp!

That's right.

We're going to stick in some cotton wool into here.

That's it, I'm just going to stuff in.

Let's get one more bit in. There it goes, like that.

And now we get the ball of modelling clay and squidge that in as well,

and hopefully it'll stand up.

It does, that's good! I'm going to lay it down and get some glue.

Put some glue on the back.

This is going to be where we stick our feather,

and this is going to be the hair of our friend.

Let's turn him over.

Now we put some glue on the front, like this.

A bit of glue for our googly eyes.

Let's stick them on. One there and another there.

And now he needs a mouth,

so let's grab a pen and draw on a very smiley mouth

like that. I did it!

A feathered finger friend made in a minute!

Phew! And if you've got more than a minute, you can cover your

feathered finger friend in lots of colourful stickers.

And you can try lots of other ideas, too. How about...

..a finger friend with glittery spots?

Or a stripy one.

Or you could use the finger of a woolly glove.

Or why don't you make a handful of feathered finger friends?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Carefully cut a finger from a rubber glove,

stuff it with cotton wool balls,

push modelling clay into the end of it,

glue on a feather, and some googly eyes,

draw on a mouth,

and your feathered finger friend is finished.

Why don't you try and make one in a minute?

It's a great way to reuse an old rubber glove.

for a big surprise?

These Mini Makers don't know that I'm about to visit.

Hello, my friends!

Oh, I'm glad you're here

because we're going on an exciting adventure today!

That's right, I think we should make a big,

wild safari with some amazing animals.

-Will you help me?

-Yeah!

Brilliant!

All right, then. Joseph, Lucy, Shola, Faye and Marley,

let's make it!

OK, then, Mini Makers, we're going to go on safari.

-Now what animal shall we make?

-Zebra!

-A zebra.

-Elephant!

-An elephant.

-Giraffe!

-A giraffe.

Who can do a good impression of a giraffe?

Chewing some leaves.

Giraffes are very tall. That's it! Very good.

How can we make our zebra?

-I know! With a box.

-A white box there?

Look at you! Is that a zebra's nose?

Where have you gone? Ooh, there you are!

-And I think we're ready to start making.

-Yeah!

Come on, then. Let's make it!

We're making the giraffe.

We're making the elephant's feet.

We're making the elephant's trunk.

And let's paint a blue sky.

That's it! Bring them in.

This big surprise has been great fun so far.

So why don't you join in and make your very own Mini Make?

Try making your own little elephant.

It's great fun to make, and you can play with it, too.

You will need gloopy glue,

water,

a plastic tub, stickers,

sticky tape,

kitchen foil and tissue paper,

small plastic bottles,

and a pen.

First, scrunch a piece of kitchen foil into a ball.

Then make two flat circles for ears

and a wiggly shape for a trunk.

Now tape them all together like this.

Next, take a plastic tub

and four small bottles.

Ask an adult to help you find them.

Stick them together with tape

to make the body and legs of the elephant.

Then tape the elephant's head to the body.

Next, make a gluey mixture that's half gloopy glue, and half water.

Paint the mixture all over the elephant,

and cover it with torn-up tissue paper pieces like this.

Once your elephant is dry, you can add some details.

Stickers for eyes,

and use a black pen to add a smiley mouth, toes,

and anything else you want.

Your excellent elephant is finished and ready to play with.

What a funny little elephant!
