Hello, lovely to see you. I'm out and about in the Makermobile. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:51
-I wonder what we'll see today. -Yay! -Oh... | 0:00:51 | 0:00:54
Tocky here. Mini Maker message. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
-Hello, I'm Morgan. -Hello, Morgan. Can I help you today? | 0:00:57 | 0:01:01
-Yes, please, Mister Maker. -I'll be there in a moment. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:05
I've arrived. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
Hello, Morgan. Lovely to meet you. Now, how can I help you today? | 0:01:27 | 0:01:32
Can we recycle old paper to make something new? | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
I think we can. I think we can recycle this old paper | 0:01:35 | 0:01:40
to make something new. In fact, we could make... | 0:01:40 | 0:01:44
Oh, dear. That's not quite right. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:50
Oh, I know. Um... Yes... Um... | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
Oh, no, that's not right either. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:57
Do you know what? | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
I think I might start again! | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
Oh, no! Wait a minute! Wait a minute! | 0:02:01 | 0:02:05
This has just given me a great idea! | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
Let's try something. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
Try making a scrunched-up countryside out of old paper. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:16
It looks very realistic. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
-BOTH: Let's make it! -But first, we'll need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:20 | 0:02:24
And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:32
I'll be back soon, thank you. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
Some twigs, leaves and flowers from a garden, | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
but make sure you ask an adult to help you collect these. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:44
A bowl, some sticky tape and some gloopy PVA glue. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:52
We also need some pebbles. I wonder if Scrappz can help us. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:01
HONK | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03 | |
-Ha-ha! -Oh, hello, Scrappz. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
We need some pebbles but I'm in a bit of a rush. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
-Could you go to the garden centre for me? -Hee-hee! -Oh, thank you! | 0:03:08 | 0:03:13
Ah, Scrappz, there you are, thank you. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
-Ha-ha, hee-hee. -Perfect, some pebbles! | 0:03:17 | 0:03:22
We'll also need some paint and some brushes... | 0:03:23 | 0:03:28
..and lots of coloured paper and card. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:33
OK then, Morgan, let's make a scrunched up countryside, | 0:03:33 | 0:03:37
like this one here. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:40
Wow, look at it...beautiful. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:43
-All right, Morgan, are you ready? -Yeah! | 0:03:43 | 0:03:46
Brilliant. Are you ready? Fantastic. Let's get making. | 0:03:46 | 0:03:50
Take some blue and green paper and we scrunch up | 0:03:50 | 0:03:53
the mountain and hill shapes first, OK? | 0:03:53 | 0:03:57
Let's have a look at them. Look, they're all crinkly | 0:03:57 | 0:04:00
which gives them interesting shapes and details. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
All right, let's get scrunching. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:06
There you go. Scrunch that. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:08
When you've finished scrunching, | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
bring in some card to stick your mountains and hills to. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:22
Let's arrange them and when we're happy with them | 0:04:22 | 0:04:25
stick them down with tape. Let's start with that mountain. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:30
Can you put some tape on there? | 0:04:30 | 0:04:33
Well done. And another bit of tape, please. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:37
Now we can place twigs, leaves and flowers | 0:04:41 | 0:04:44
around our scrunched-up mountains and hills. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:47
We can even put them here, in the gaps between the shapes. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:53
Now, this adds colour to our countryside. | 0:04:53 | 0:04:55
All right, Morgan, you can find twigs, leaves and flowers. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:59
We'll put them all in place and we'll stick them down with..? | 0:04:59 | 0:05:03
-Sticky tape. -That's right. Let's find some. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:07
That'll be nice. I'll put that in place. In there will be nice. | 0:05:08 | 0:05:13
Now we can add pebbles and stones to look like rocks. | 0:05:16 | 0:05:20
Now we need to make a very special mixture | 0:05:28 | 0:05:31
that's half gloopy glue and half paint. | 0:05:31 | 0:05:34
We'll use blue paint for this | 0:05:34 | 0:05:36
because this mixture is going to be our water. | 0:05:36 | 0:05:39
All right, Morgan, you can help with this. | 0:05:39 | 0:05:42
Here's a cup. Make the special mixture, please, | 0:05:42 | 0:05:46
and put in some gloopy glue first. That's it, put in a big squirt. | 0:05:46 | 0:05:51
Give it a stir with the paint brush. | 0:05:57 | 0:06:00
Good mixing, Morgan, it's now time to pour that mixture | 0:06:00 | 0:06:05
over our countryside | 0:06:05 | 0:06:07
to make a waterfall and a lake. | 0:06:07 | 0:06:12
OK then, here we go. | 0:06:12 | 0:06:14
It looks great! | 0:06:22 | 0:06:24
And, when it's all dried, you have a wonderful waterfall and a lake. | 0:06:25 | 0:06:32
For a bit of extra detail we can brush on white paint | 0:06:34 | 0:06:38
to make ripples and waves in the water. | 0:06:38 | 0:06:41
There, it's all finished. It's a super scrunched-up countryside! | 0:06:46 | 0:06:51
And you can use this idea in lots of different ways. | 0:06:51 | 0:06:55
How about making a beach with a cardboard boat and paper sand dunes? | 0:06:55 | 0:07:01
Or why not make a seaside harbour with a pebbly beach | 0:07:01 | 0:07:05
and paper sailing boats? | 0:07:05 | 0:07:07
-Why don't you try one? All right, Morgan, did you enjoy that? -Yeah. | 0:07:07 | 0:07:12
Brilliant. We made it and now your home is where the art is. High five! | 0:07:12 | 0:07:17
'Well done, Morgan, see you soon. Bye.' | 0:07:20 | 0:07:23
Ahh! Ha-ha. Lovely. | 0:07:23 | 0:07:27
It's brilliant being out in the Makermobile. | 0:07:27 | 0:07:30
There's always so much to see and do. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:33
-Hee-hee. -Boing! -Squeak! | 0:07:33 | 0:07:35
What's that noise? | 0:07:35 | 0:07:37
Oh! Guess who that is? | 0:07:37 | 0:07:41
-Oh! -Wee! | 0:07:41 | 0:07:44
-Wa-hey! -Ah! Yeah! | 0:07:44 | 0:07:47
ALL: # I am a shape | 0:07:48 | 0:07:52
# I am a shape | 0:07:54 | 0:07:56
# I am a circle | 0:07:58 | 0:08:00
# I am triangle | 0:08:02 | 0:08:04
# I am a square | 0:08:07 | 0:08:10
# I am a rectangle | 0:08:13 | 0:08:15
# I am a shape | 0:08:22 | 0:08:24
# I am a shape | 0:08:27 | 0:08:28
# I am a shape | 0:08:32 | 0:08:33
# I am a shape | 0:08:36 | 0:08:38
# I am a triangle. # | 0:08:44 | 0:08:47
What's hiding in the triangles? | 0:08:49 | 0:08:52
Can you guess? | 0:08:56 | 0:08:58
It's a goat! | 0:09:07 | 0:09:09
Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers. | 0:09:09 | 0:09:14
Oh, this is a lovely day for a drive out in the Makermobile, isn't it? | 0:09:24 | 0:09:28
-Squawk! -Oh! -Minute-make time! | 0:09:28 | 0:09:31
Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way! | 0:09:31 | 0:09:35
Here we are. | 0:09:48 | 0:09:50
-It's minute-make time, everyone! -ALL: Yeah! | 0:09:54 | 0:09:58
Ha-ha! I love basketball. | 0:09:58 | 0:10:01
In fact, I'm rather good at it. | 0:10:01 | 0:10:05
CRASH! Oh! Sorry! | 0:10:05 | 0:10:08
I think I need more practise but that's a good thing | 0:10:08 | 0:10:11
because today we're going to make this! It's a mini basketball game | 0:10:11 | 0:10:17
and we can make it in just one minute by using these things. | 0:10:17 | 0:10:21
Some tissue paper, some modelling clay, | 0:10:21 | 0:10:24
a net bag - this is the type that fruit normally comes in. | 0:10:24 | 0:10:28
A long strip of card, a long thin cardboard tube and some sticky tape. | 0:10:28 | 0:10:35
Now, do you think it's possible to make this mini basketball game | 0:10:35 | 0:10:39
-in just one minute? -ALL: No way! | 0:10:39 | 0:10:43
Let's find out. I'll have to be quick. | 0:10:43 | 0:10:45
Don't worry! I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready? | 0:10:45 | 0:10:50
-ALL: Yeah! -Are you ready? | 0:10:50 | 0:10:53
Great! Let's make it in a minute. | 0:10:53 | 0:10:55
ALL: Three, two, one, go! | 0:10:55 | 0:10:58
Start the clock! First we get our strip | 0:10:58 | 0:11:01
and then our piece of net like that | 0:11:01 | 0:11:04
and we lay it on top and get a bit of sticky tape, | 0:11:04 | 0:11:07
a long piece, and stick the net to the strip | 0:11:07 | 0:11:11
and then curl it into a loop, | 0:11:11 | 0:11:13
making sure that the net's inside, | 0:11:13 | 0:11:18
we can stick it together with sticky tape. | 0:11:18 | 0:11:21
There we go. Brilliant. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
Let's put that there and get our tube. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:27
We'll put some sticky tape on here, like that. | 0:11:27 | 0:11:30
And then stick our tube onto our hoop like that. | 0:11:30 | 0:11:34
Now we get our modelling clay and squish it down. | 0:11:34 | 0:11:38
If we put our tube into there we're nearly ready | 0:11:38 | 0:11:41
but we need a ball. | 0:11:41 | 0:11:43
Get our tissue paper and open it up and then | 0:11:43 | 0:11:47
scrunch it into a ball, like that. | 0:11:47 | 0:11:51
We need a bit of sticky tape to stick it together. | 0:11:51 | 0:11:56
We've got a ball and a mini basketball game! | 0:11:56 | 0:11:59
ALL: Yeah! | 0:11:59 | 0:12:02
Phew, I made it...just! | 0:12:02 | 0:12:04
But if you've got more than a minute, you could paint it stripy | 0:12:04 | 0:12:08
like this, very nice. | 0:12:08 | 0:12:12
Or you could even stick your net onto a painted cardboard wall. | 0:12:12 | 0:12:17
Mini basketball games made in a minute. | 0:12:17 | 0:12:19
Why don't you make one? Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:19 | 0:12:23
Let's go back to the beginning and take a look. | 0:12:23 | 0:12:27
Stick the netting onto a strip of card. | 0:12:27 | 0:12:30
Tape the card into a hoop. | 0:12:30 | 0:12:33
Stick the hoop onto a cardboard tube | 0:12:33 | 0:12:36
and push the other end into the modelling clay. | 0:12:36 | 0:12:39
Screw up a ball of tissue paper and tape it together | 0:12:39 | 0:12:43
and your mini basketball game is finished. | 0:12:43 | 0:12:46
Why don't you make it in a minute? | 0:12:47 | 0:12:50
And when you have made it, you can play with it. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:53
All you have got to do is throw the ball through the hoop. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:57
-ALL: Yeah! -Ha-ha! | 0:12:57 | 0:13:02
It's time to go, everyone, but thank you | 0:13:02 | 0:13:04
-for being part of another marvellous minute-make. Goodbye! -ALL: Bye! | 0:13:04 | 0:13:10
You never know what will happen when you're in the Makermobile. Oh! | 0:13:12 | 0:13:17
ALL: Hello, Mister Maker. | 0:13:17 | 0:13:20
Oh, nice to see you. | 0:13:20 | 0:13:22
What do you think we're making today? | 0:13:22 | 0:13:24
Let's find out, shall we? | 0:13:24 | 0:13:26
I am red. | 0:13:29 | 0:13:31
I am orange. | 0:13:35 | 0:13:37
I am green. | 0:13:38 | 0:13:41
I am purple. | 0:13:43 | 0:13:44
I'm dark blue. | 0:13:46 | 0:13:48
ALL: It's a sofa! | 0:14:08 | 0:14:10
Well done, everyone. See you next time. | 0:14:10 | 0:14:13
Hello. Are you ready... | 0:14:15 | 0:14:18
for a big surprise?! | 0:14:18 | 0:14:20
These Mini Makers have no idea that we're making something very special. | 0:14:21 | 0:14:26
Let's give them a big surprise. | 0:14:26 | 0:14:29
-Hello! -ALL: Ha-ha! | 0:14:29 | 0:14:33
Hello, it's great to meet you and I am glad you were so surprised | 0:14:33 | 0:14:38
-to see me because... Boo! -ALL: Ha-ha! | 0:14:38 | 0:14:42
I thought a "boo" might make them jump but you giggled! | 0:14:42 | 0:14:46
That must mean you're just the Mini Makers I need. | 0:14:46 | 0:14:50
I think we should make a spooky house together. | 0:14:50 | 0:14:53
-Will you help me? -ALL: Yeah! | 0:14:53 | 0:14:56
Fantastic! All right then. Leila, Leon, Sophia, Iman | 0:14:56 | 0:15:01
and Emannuel, let's make it! | 0:15:01 | 0:15:04
Mini Makers, we're making a big spooky house. | 0:15:04 | 0:15:07
So what colour should it be? | 0:15:07 | 0:15:09
-I think it should be purple. -Purple! That's a lovely idea. | 0:15:09 | 0:15:13
-What should we make to go round our house? -A pop-out ghost. | 0:15:13 | 0:15:18
A pop-out ghost! What can we use to make our ghosts? | 0:15:18 | 0:15:21
Oh, this! But we'll need something underneath this. | 0:15:21 | 0:15:25
Ah, great! There we go. | 0:15:25 | 0:15:27
Catch, Leon! Good catch. I think we're ready, aren't we, Mini Makers? | 0:15:27 | 0:15:32
-ALL: Yes! -Come on then, let's make it. | 0:15:32 | 0:15:35
We're making the spooky house. | 0:15:38 | 0:15:40
I'm making a ghost. | 0:15:49 | 0:15:50
I'm making the moon. | 0:15:54 | 0:15:57
Now we'll need a spooky background. | 0:15:57 | 0:16:01
Lovely, all right, in you come, Mini Makers. That's it. | 0:16:01 | 0:16:05
This big surprise has been great fun | 0:16:07 | 0:16:10
so why don't you join in and make your very own mini make? | 0:16:10 | 0:16:15
Try making a funny paper ghost. It looks really spooky. | 0:16:15 | 0:16:19
Make it, play with it, have fun with it. To make one you will need... | 0:16:19 | 0:16:24
some tissue paper and kitchen foil. Sticky tape, some googly eyes, | 0:16:24 | 0:16:30
a pencil, a sticker, some modelling clay, | 0:16:30 | 0:16:35
elastic, scissors | 0:16:35 | 0:16:38
and a large plate. | 0:16:38 | 0:16:40
First, draw around the plate onto a square of tissue paper. | 0:16:40 | 0:16:46
Do the same again with another piece of tissue in a different colour. | 0:16:46 | 0:16:51
Then carefully cut around the lines to make tissue paper circles. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:56
Fold the circles in half, keeping them together. | 0:16:56 | 0:16:59
Once, twice, three times | 0:16:59 | 0:17:05
and a fourth time to make a thin triangle shape. | 0:17:05 | 0:17:10
Then take the kitchen foil and the elastic. | 0:17:10 | 0:17:14
If you don't have elastic, you could use wool. | 0:17:14 | 0:17:18
Tape the elastic onto the foil and scrunch the foil up into a ball. | 0:17:18 | 0:17:23
Now unfold the tissue paper circles. | 0:17:23 | 0:17:28
Take some modelling clay and make a hole in the middle with a pencil. | 0:17:28 | 0:17:33
Thread the elastic through the holes. | 0:17:37 | 0:17:39
This is a bit fiddly so you may need an adult to help you. | 0:17:39 | 0:17:43
Cut a round sticker in half and stick it on for a smiley mouth. | 0:17:46 | 0:17:53
Then stick on the googly eyes | 0:17:53 | 0:17:57
and you're ready to hang up your spooky ghost. | 0:17:57 | 0:18:02
Why don't you try making a great little ghost? | 0:18:02 | 0:18:06
But right now, let's see how our Mini Makers are getting on. | 0:18:06 | 0:18:10
-Bring it in! -What, this way? A bit more, do you think? | 0:18:10 | 0:18:14
-Bring it in. -Down, everybody! That's it. Very good. | 0:18:14 | 0:18:18
