We're in the party pad!

It's the perfect place for a party.

So let's get arty!

It's the Mini Makers from Ashford.

Hello, everybody. Now, my friends, are you feeling arty?

-KIDS:

-Yeah!

-Well, let's party!

Come on.

# We're going to have a party And look who I've invited

-Hello, Scrappz, my friend. It's great to see you.

-Ah!

-Now, would you think we should make our party about today?

-Um...

Yes, you have a think. Have you got any ideas?

Come on then, Mini Makers. Over here, everyone. Come on, this way.

Now, have a look at the screen. We're going to show you some clues,

see if you can guess what our party is going to be about today.

-What's up on the screen? What is it? KIDS:

-Orang-utan.

-And where is it?

-KIDS:

-Jungle.

-Oh, what's that?

-KIDS:

-Jaguar.

-And where is it? KIDS:

-Jungle.

-KIDS:

-Bird.

-And where is it? KIDS:

-Jungle.

-And what's this? KIDS:

-Jungle!

I'll give you one last clue, Mini Makers...

Wow, listen to that. What is our party going to be up out today?

-KIDS:

-The jungle!

-That's right, we're going to have a jungle party today. KIDS:

-Yay!

Wow, look at you, Scrappz. You're really ready for our jungle party.

-Yeah!

-Who's a pretty boy then?

-Wah-wah, wah-wah.

You are!

Wah.

-KIDS:

-Yay!

So, everyone, let's think up a jumble of jungle ideas

and make an Arty Party picture.

-What shall we use today, my friends?

-Paper.

-KIDS:

-Glue.

Tissue paper.

What animals could we put into our picture?

-Lions.

-Snake.

-Tiger.

Well done, Mini Makers, some great ideas there.

In fact, you've just given me a brilliant idea.

Let's get arty at our party

and make a terrific tissue paper jungle complete with its own lion.

But first, we'll need some things from...

-KIDS:

-The Doodle Tube!

That's right.

We'll need coloured tissue paper and card.

Stickers and a pen.

An old jumper.

A broken guitar... Huh!

And...a flip-flop.

Ha! Doodle Tube, this is jumble.

We want jungle. We're not having a jungle sale.

And we'll need a glue stick.

All right, then, Mini Makers, here we go.

Let's get started by bringing in some folded up tissue paper.

Now, the reason it's folded up

is it means we have lots of lovely layers. Now, I'm going

to use some scissors now to very carefully cut out a leaf shape.

-But I must be careful, scissors are... KIDS:

-Sharp.

That's right.

Here we are. A nice leaf shape.

Around we go like that.

And you can see that because we folded our paper,

we've got lots and lots of lovely leaves.

Just look at that. There we go, lots of them.

Now, Mini Makers, we can make our leaves look more jungle

and tropical-like by very carefully snipping tribal shapes out of them

to make tropical-looking leaves.

And you can make them in any colours you like.

I'm going to push these all the way over here.

Now we need to bring in some background card.

This is what we'll stick all our lovely leaves onto.

Some glue onto the card in the corner here.

And let's get a nice green leaf there.

Stick that down.

Then cover the card with lots of colourful leaves.

And now we need an animal to live in our jungle.

-What animal should we chose? KIDS:

-Lion.

-It's a lion!

So we're going to use this torn-out orange heart shape

for the lion's head.

Put some glue on that.

Now I can stick it on.

And we can add some more torn-out pieces for a face and some ears.

-Now, what else does our lion need, Mini Makers? KIDS:

-Eyes. Nose.

Eyes and a nose. And for that, we can use some stickers.

So let's stick on these lovely big white stickers for the eyes.

And we'll use some smaller black circle-shaped stickers

for the pupils.

And he needs a nose as well.

All our lion needs now is a mouth,

and we can draw that using a pen.

Let's put that on.

There, a lovely lion in a jungle.

-Do you like this picture, everybody? KIDS:

-Yeah!

Well, now you're going to get to make your very own Arty Party

-picture. But first, you need to put on your... ALL:

-Arty aprons!

-Yay!

-KIDS:

-Aaaah!

-Because it's time to... ALL:

-Start the art!

Dale, I love your picture - lots of colourful leaves here.

-And what have you got in the jungle here?

-Snakes.

That's right, snakes.

-What will you put in the middle here?

-A tiger.

A tiger. Well, let's get started. Go on, tear out a tiger shape.

And I wonder, has anyone ever had any arty ideas about jungles?

Let's find out.

Henri Rousseau lived in France a long time ago.

He worked in an office

and in his spare time taught himself to paint pictures.

Although he liked his paintings, many people didn't.

Some people think this made Henri sad.

So he kept experimenting.

And one day, he decided to paint a tropical jungle painting.

There was just one big problem -

there were no tropical jungles in Paris.

But then he had a brilliant idea.

I'm going to the zoo!

Henri decided to go to the local parks and zoos

and make drawings of all the plants and animals.

He would then paint amazing jungle paintings

based on the sketches he'd drawn.

The jungle pictures made Henri famous even though

he'd never been to a jungle in his life.

Oh, my jungle painting's all finished.

I don't know about Henri Rousseau,

I should have been called Henri Zooseau!

Hah.

Wow, what an imagination.

See, you don't have to go to far-off places to make arty pictures,

you just need to go on safari in your head.

Now let's see how the Mini Makers are getting on.

Thomas, I love your picture. What have you got in the jungle here?

-Some nice jungle parrots.

-Jungle parrots! They look very good.

-But what's this?

-With this parrot, I used tissue paper.

-Wow, it looks just like a real wing.

-Yeah.

That's really cool. Well done, my friend.

Now, Ruby, tell me about the different birds

you've put into your jungle.

-That's the crazy bird.

-What's that bird in the middle?

-The baby bird.

-Last but not least, who's that on the end?

-The party bird.

-The party bird! Oh, he's wearing a party hat.

I wish I was wearing a hat like that.

Piers, what have you got in the middle of your jungle?

-A leopard.

-A leopard. And how did you make its spots?

-By using those stickers, the black stickers you used.

-Black stickers.

-It looks super and very spotty. And...

-Zzzz!

-What's that noise, everyone?

-Zzzz!

I can hear snoring! Who is it, everybody?

-KIDS:

-The Shapes!

-That's right, it's the Shapes.

I think we should wake them up. So after three. Ready?

One, two, three...

-ALL:

-Wake up!

-SHAPES:

-Zzzzz...

-Here we go.

That's right, it's a toucan.

That was fantastic, Triangle.

It's time to get back on the shelf.

-SHAPES:

-Toot!

-Oh, look! KIDS:

DANCE MUSIC PLAYS

It's Scrappz's surprise party popper!

To make a marvellous monkey swinging through the jungle, like this...

Stick a large round sticker onto a piece of paper or card.

Stick a smaller sticker on top to make a tummy.

Use another sticker for the head.

And put two smaller stickers behind for ears.

Then stick the whole thing onto the body.

And add three more stickers for the face.

Now, use a pen to draw arms, legs...

..and a curly tail.

And don't forget to add eyes and a lovely smiley mouth.

Next, squeeze a line of glue across the paper.

And stick down a piece of string or wool so your monkey can swing.

And leave it to dry.

What a brilliant idea, Scrappz.

And you can make any type of swinging creature you like.

Ee-ee-ah!

-Dania, I love your picture. What have you made?

-I made a bat picture.

-They're all sleeping.

-Shh, they're all asleep.

They're upside down asleep. I love it.

I've made a lemur hanging upside down.

Wow, what a lovely lemur. And I love the lemur's tail.

you're got to add decorations to a snake like this one here.

But the difference is, your snake is going to be a really big one!

You've got to decorate this big snake

with all of these lovely circle-shaped stickers.

-Now, Ruby, Joshua and Oliver, do you think you can do it? KIDS:

-Yes!

I think so too, but you'll have to be really quick.

You've got to finish your snake before Scrappz makes this noise...

We've had lots of jungle fun making tissue paper pictures

and swinging creatures.

We found out how Henri Rousseau painted a jungle

without ever visiting one

and we made a giant spotty snake in Snakes And Adders.
