Today, my travelling fete is in West Bromwich

and I'm just off out to meet some tiddlers.

We've got Brianna and Jayden. Oh, and Chloe.

Now, today's going to be brilliant. Do you know why?

Over there we've got den building. We've got the bee hives over there.

And, tiddlers, do you know what this is?

TIDDLERS: For apples.

Yes, that's right. I've got an apple and I'm going to put it on here.

Here we go. Let's see what happens. Ooh.

Wow! And look what we've got here. Look at that!

It looks like worms.

Oh, hang on, we're running a bit low on apple's though.

Look. We haven't got many left.

So, do you know where there's a really big tree

Hey, Jake, what have you got there?

-Oh, a nice red apple.

-Oh, hang on, what colour are those apples?

-Green.

So, there are red apples and green apples growing on the same branch!

Ho-ho, this is a very special apple tree.

Well, tiddlers, we've got some cracking apples here, haven't we?

Yes.

But, hang on, these apples, do they all look the same to you?

-No.

-No.

Those are green, those are kind of red and yellow, they're red.

-What about this one?

-Oh, it's a bit more smaller.

-Yes, this one's a lot smaller than this one.

-Yes.

It's funny, isn't it? All these apples came from the same tree.

-Shall we give them a taste?

-Yes.

-Ho-ho!

-Aargh!

-It's sour.

-Sour.

-And a bit bitter.

-And a bit bitter? Oh, yes.

Mmm...

-Mmm.

-Mmm. Tasty bean.

-They're very crunchy, aren't they? What do you think, Jake?

-Juicy.

They taste very different to one another, don't they?

-Do you know how all these apples came from one tree?

-BOTH: No.

I'll show you how.

Right, here we go, tiddlers.

Now, this is a very young apple tree.

It's going to grow green apples, and it grows them from these buds.

So, I need to find a tree growing red apples

and I need to get one of those buds.

And then, I can join that bud to this tree

so that red apples will grow on the green apple tree, too.

Tiddlers, you wait here.

Me and Colin will be back in a minute, OK?

COLIN CHUCKLES

Oh, hey, Colin, look at this red apple. Red apples are my favourite.

So, what I'm going to do is take my secateurs

and cut a branch from the tree where the red apples grow.

-Come on, Colin, I'll show you what we do next.

-Ha-ha-ha!

So, now all we need to do is to cut off this bud,

cos that is where the red apples grow from.

Helping bean!

No, not at the moment, Colin,

cos this is a job for grown-ups, OK? So you watch.

I'll cut down here like this, Colin,

so that we can get the red apple bud,

but we have to be careful cos these knives are sharp.

-There we go, Colin. Look. We've got a red apple bud!

-Hey!

Come on, let's show it to the tiddlers.

Right, tiddlers, OK.

I need to do something special.

Watch this - I'm going to make a little cut

at the bottom of the tree, here.

There we go. OK.

I take the bud, I pop it on there, and place it on there.

Jake, could I have your help?

I've got this tape here. Can you see?

Can you wrap it around?

If we tie this nice and tight, after a while,

the bud will actually join the branch.

So, now we've got the bud in place, I wonder how long

before we get red apples and green apples growing together?

What do you think, Colin?

-Erm, day bean.

-One day?!

-It takes a lot longer than a day.

-What do you think, Poppy?

-A couple of years?

Hey, this is what we got up to earlier on, Colin,

when we went out to pick those apples.

And the tiddlers did lots of picking.

Oh, the apples on the tree all look different.

Oh, they were, Margaret, yes,

because there were sweet apples, bitter apples,

green apples, yellow apples, red apples,

all sorts of different apples growing on the same tree.

And what have you tiddlers been up to outside?

-Den building.

-Wow!

We put some sticks on the side and we left the door.

We put grass on top of it.

Yeah! You tiddlers made a great den with all those tree branches.

Branches and sticks.

They could be used for all sorts of different things.

Hold your horseradishes!

I've got a solution to solve your problem, Sebastian.

-Really, Mr Bloom?

-Yes.

You can't get everybody in one picture, because we're all doing

-different things, but you could take a picture of us all one by one.

-Oh!

When you've got lots of pictures, we can put them

-on a branch and decorate it.

-This sounds perfecto!

All our pictures will be on the same tree,

just like those different apples we saw.

But I need some help from some certain tiddlers,

and a compostarium!

but don't worry, tiddlers, because it's feeding time.

Hello, hello, calling all tiddlers, parents and grandparents.

We've got a very hungry compostarium here and he needs feeding.

So, please oblige and fill the nearest copper funnel

full of lovely, compostable bits and bobs.
