Hey, tiddlers, can you tell Margaret why that is?

-Cos they're in pea pods.

-Hey, that's right, Thomas.

Can you show Margaret the peas inside the pods?

-I can open mine here.

-Oh! Wow! They look nice and juicy!

-Mmm!

Did you know, Margaret,

-that you can actually eat peas straight from the pod?

-Really?

-Yes.

And that's how the farmer knows when they're ready.

Hey, shall we see if these peas pass the pea-tasting test?

Now, the best peas are sweet and juicy, so how do these peas taste?

Fantastic!

-I have them for my tea.

-For your tea? Wowee! Oh, they're good.

Do you know what, tiddlers?

These peas have to be picked really, really quickly

cos they only stay fresh for a little bit of time.

And all these peas then get taken to a factory

and get frozen as cold as ice cream. Do you know what that does?

It helps keep all the goodness and freshness inside the pea.

-Oh, goodness!

-Come on, tiddlers, let's get picking these peas.

Quickly, tiddlers!

Come on, tiddlers, quick, quick!

-Hey, that's right!

-Look, they jumped out!

-Oh, these pesky peas!

Oh, goodness! That looked like really hard work!

You're not wrong, Margaret.

I was popping peas so quickly, look what happened to some of them.

-What do they look like, tiddlers?

-Mushy peas!

-Mushy peas?

I think we'll need more help. This field is huge.

-How are we going to pick all these peas?

-A pea viner!

Oh, yeah, a pea viner!

It's a massive...

machine!

I tell you what, that pea viner will get the job done in no time,

so I'll go over there, but you stay here

cos those things normally get driven by adults.

Hey, this is certainly quicker

-than picking these peas by hand, isn't it, Margaret?

-Ho-ho!

We have to be careful. These viners are very big.

They could be dangerous.

What they do is they pick up all these peas

and spin them round and round until all the peas pop out.

Let's try and count the peas.

One, two, three, four, five...

Oh, they're tumbling in so fast!

It's a good job - these peas won't stay fresh much longer.

Those little beauties need to get frozen sharpish.

Here at the factory, our perfect peas are separated from

any muck or grub that might have come with them.

They're then heated up very quickly.

This keeps all the juicy goodness inside them.

The peas are then frozen in giant freezer rooms.

It's a bit nippy in here! We should take some back with us.

Pop open me pea pods, I can't believe we did it!

One bag of finely frozen peas.

-As fresh as the moment they were picked and all!

-Ho-ho!

There's no time to plod once the pea's out of the pod!

Ha-ha! I couldn't have put it better!

Oh, phew! That's better! It's much warmer back at my fete.

You have to be very quick getting ice cream, Mr Bloom,

just like we had to be quick at the pea farm.

Oh, look! Compo's showing us what we did today!

Me and Margaret went to a massive field full of peas.

You know, they were ready to be picked from their pods.

We had to pick them quickly

and there were so many that we needed a pea viner.

-It was great fun!

-Oh, wow!

That thing's even bigger than a digger!

And once the peas were picked,

they had to be frozen to keep all the goodness sealed inside.

That was quick pea-picking!

But being quick isn't everything, is it, tiddlers?

Hey, what's Compo showing us here?

Is this what you tiddlers did earlier today?

-We played an egg-and-spoon race.

How did you get it all the way to the end, Georgie?

-We had to be careful.

So we've learned that sometimes you have to be very quick,

but other times you have to be careful.

But we need to be careful too,

so if we can find something to carry the ice cream

and put it on the scooter, then we can be quick AND careful.

That's an important basket.

That will carry the ice cream for Raymond.
