Hiya, it's Friday! | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
I'm Ayshah with the stories
you need over breakfast. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:09
Coming up... | 0:00:09 | 0:00:11
One lucky school is getting a visit | 0:00:11 | 0:00:13
from the Royal couple
and | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15 | |
the twins somersaulting
their way to success. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:25
A Hollywood film called Wonder
is being released today. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:37
It's based on the story
of a ten-year-old boy with a facial | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
disfigurement who was
bullied at school. | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
For 13-year-old Marcus
the story is close to home. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:45
He joins me on the sofa now,
and we also have Phillida Smith | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
from the charity Changing Faces. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
Thank you for coming in! | 0:00:51 | 0:00:55
It's a cold morning. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:56
Marcus, just tell us
about your condition? | 0:00:56 | 0:01:01
When I was younger, I got bullied,
especially year four, because I | 0:01:01 | 0:01:10
looked different, people called me
scarface, joker. And some people | 0:01:10 | 0:01:17
even said if they looked me they
would kill themselves. I am so sorry | 0:01:17 | 0:01:26
about that. But you have come out on
the other side? Changing Faces has | 0:01:26 | 0:01:34
helped. Because I have been meeting
people who have gone through the | 0:01:34 | 0:01:40
same things as me. And please
explain your disfigurement. I have | 0:01:40 | 0:01:48
the facial pallet. And how have you
helped? Marcus, he has been a great | 0:01:48 | 0:02:00
example of the journey that you can
have, and the confidence you can | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
build. Those were some horrible
names that Marcus had been called. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:10
What can the schools do to help? We
have resources, teaching teachers | 0:02:10 | 0:02:16
about how to talk about this,
teaching young people to embrace the | 0:02:16 | 0:02:21
difference. Marcus, we mentioned the
film Wonder. How do you think that | 0:02:21 | 0:02:28
is going to help the children with
these disfigurement? If you are | 0:02:28 | 0:02:35
getting bullied... You need to tell
your parents, an adult you can | 0:02:35 | 0:02:44
trust. It is not you with the
problem. That is their with the | 0:02:44 | 0:02:49
problem. That is a great message.
Thank you so much. Absolutely | 0:02:49 | 0:02:56
brilliant. It has been a pleasure to
meet you, Marcus. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:09
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
will carry out their first joint | 0:03:09 | 0:03:12
jobs as a Royal couple later | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
just days after announcing they're
getting married in the spring. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
They'll visit several charities
in Nottingham and visit a school. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
Can you imagine them
coming to your school? | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
Wow! | 0:03:20 | 0:03:21 | |
OK... | 0:03:21 | 0:03:22 | |
Next if you like gymnastics
this one's for you. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
Two sporty sisters and their story. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:29
I am Katie. I am Izzy. We are twins.
When we were younger, we competed on | 0:03:29 | 0:03:44
the bar and beam, but injuries
stopped us competing. How did that | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
feel? You thought you could not do
gymnastics again? I was really | 0:03:47 | 0:03:54
disappointed and upset. Gymnastics
means everything to me. To think I | 0:03:54 | 0:03:58
could not do it again, it upset me.
Was it difficult, watching me? I | 0:03:58 | 0:04:06
knew I was going to get better, but
I had to wait and I was watching you | 0:04:06 | 0:04:12
when I was coaching. I was
frustrated I could not jump on the | 0:04:12 | 0:04:16
floor! How does it make you feel,
being able to do gymnastics again? | 0:04:16 | 0:04:21
Really happy and delighted that I
can do the sport that I love. I am | 0:04:21 | 0:04:27
so thankful that my injury has not
stopped me from doing gymnastics | 0:04:27 | 0:04:33
altogether. This weekend were
heading to the London of gymnastics. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:38
It is going to be the first team
since we were younger that we will | 0:04:38 | 0:04:42
be performing together. How are you
feeling? Really excited. It is a big | 0:04:42 | 0:04:48
performance. A little bit nervous as
I do not want things to go wrong but | 0:04:48 | 0:04:51
I am excited. | 0:04:51 | 0:04:57
MUSIC. | 0:05:00 | 0:05:02
It was really fun. I have not done
anything like that before. I was | 0:05:08 | 0:05:14
competing and it was exciting. They
were so good! | 0:05:14 | 0:05:21
Some schools will be shut
and roads closed in parts | 0:05:21 | 0:05:23
of the UK this morning. | 0:05:23 | 0:05:25
Overnight it was freezing,
with temperatures as low as minus 8! | 0:05:25 | 0:05:28
Now that's cold! | 0:05:28 | 0:05:29
Yesterday parts of Scotland,
eastern England, | 0:05:29 | 0:05:30
and Kent had the first
snowfall of winter! | 0:05:30 | 0:05:32
Another five centimetres could fall
in some areas today. | 0:05:32 | 0:05:37
Now for any of you who have
had some snow recently, | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
what's the first thing you did? | 0:05:40 | 0:05:42
Something a bit like this perhaps. | 0:05:42 | 0:05:47
Here are giant pandas Aoyun
and Yunyun having a play. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:49
Look at them go, panda-monium! | 0:05:49 | 0:05:53
So glad I got to say that! | 0:05:53 | 0:05:54
Whitney's back this afternoon. | 0:05:54 | 0:05:55
Have a great day at school. | 0:05:55 | 0:06:01
We're back | 0:06:01 | 0:06:01 |
