to in today's snow...

The two dogs holding up traffic.

And a baby monkey

saved by a charity.

Snow, ice and powerful winds

are continuing to cause big

problems throughout the UK.

Let's take a look at

what's been happening.

Over the past few days,

thousands of schools have been

closed and many flights

and trains cancelled.

The freezing cold temperatures

are being caused by two weather

patterns meeting together,

the Beast From The East

from Russia and Storm Emma

travelling up from Portugal.

Up to 50 centimetres of snow

and really strong winds are expected

in parts of south-west England

and south-east Wales.

I didn't think it would

snow like this, just

for the next hour yesterday.

So I'm pretty surprised.

I thought it wouldn't snow

as much as this has.

I thought it was just going to be

a little bit of rain.

Gusts of 60 to 70 mph

are possible in parts

of northern England and Wales.

And more snow is expected in parts

of Northern Ireland,

Scotland and northern England,

with up to 20 centimetres

in the hills.

One school in Surrey

made their own igloo for a classroom

and had a short lesson outside

in the snow yesterday.

In Hampshire and Avon and Somerset,

lots of people are only just warming

up after having to sleep

in their cars

when they all became stuck.

In Greater Manchester,

the army was sent out to rescue

hundreds of drivers whose vehicles

were stranded in the snow.

Weather forecasters say the cold

weather could last into next week.

In certain parts of the country,

police are telling people not to

travel unless absolutely necessary.

Now over to America,

where police in Arizona

got called out to deal

with a pretty unusual situation -

a canine car chase!

You're gonna wanna watch this one.

Running down a motorway is never

a good idea, but unfortunately,

these two dogs did just that.

State troopers and firefighters

tried for over an hour to catch

them, causing huge traffic jams.

Whoops!

Eventually, one of them

was picked up off the road

and when the second one legged it

into a caravan park,

some of the locals

were able to rescue it.

Thankfully, no dogs or people

were hurt during the chase.

Officials are now trying to find out

if anyone owns the dogs.

Take a look at this baby

monkey in central Africa.

He was saved by a charity,

who've found him a new home.

Meet baby Moussa.

He's been taken to his

new home at a sanctuary

in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He was taken from the wild by

poachers, but rescued by a charity.

He quickly made friends

with the pilot and seemed

to enjoy the view.

But it's all got a bit tiring

and he's had to have a wee nap.

And look - he seems pleased to meet

the people who will keep him

safe at the sanctuary.

Reckon it's been cold here?

Well, check out this

place in northern Canada.

But the freezing temperatures don't

stop this girl spending hours

sledging with her dogs.

Eight dogs, one sled,

one 12-year-old, -40 degrees.

In the north of Canada,

it's very cold and very snowy.

Perfect weather for a sleigh ride.

Every day after school,

Florence takes her sleigh dogs out

in the snow to train.

TRANSLATION: I need to put

little shoes on the dogs.

The snow can be very cold and sharp.

With the shoes, they

won't hurt themselves.

Florence loves racing so much

that she often travels to the US

to take part in competitions there.

TRANSLATION: I like standing

on the sled, exploring new areas

and meeting other sled dog racers

so I can learn from them.

Some of the races last several days.

Florence and her doggy team

are so good that they

often beat the adults.
