Turn down the volume now if you don't want to know. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:38
Last night's final saw Tom Jones' act Into The Dark | 0:00:38 | 0:00:47
and Jennifer Hudson's finalist Mo go head-to-head. | 0:00:47 | 0:00:48
So, who came out on top? | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
Mo! | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53 | |
Mo, congratulations, you are the winner... | 0:00:53 | 0:00:57
The 21-year-old will start work on a new album. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:03
There was some drama earlier on the show when a fan invaded | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
the studio and got on the stage. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
He was swiftly moved on. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
OK, time for some sport now. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title for a sixth year | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
in a row after thrashing Hearts 5-0. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:18
The team have already won the Scottish League Cup and are now | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
aiming for a treble in the Scottish Cup. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
There was relief for Arsene Wenger with his team drawing 2-2 | 0:01:24 | 0:01:27
at home to Manchester City. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:29
Arsenal had lost four out of their previous five | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
Premier League games, but lots of fans are still | 0:01:31 | 0:01:33
calling for him to resign. | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
The Gunners are currently sitting sixth in the table. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
And Swansea didn't do much to help themselves avoid relegation | 0:01:38 | 0:01:40
from the Premier League with a goalless draw | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
against Middlesborough. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:46
Swansea sit just one point above the bottom three. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
Heading onto the water now, and the famous boat race took place | 0:01:49 | 0:01:52
yesterday afternoon between Oxford and Cambridge universities. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
The race has been officially happening for 163 years now, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:59
and this year it was the Oxford men who won. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
It's the fourth time in five years they've done it. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
While in the women's race, Oxford had a terrible start, | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
getting an oar stuck right at the beginning, leaving Cambridge | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
an easy run to the winners' podium. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:16
We all know his drawings so well from books by authors | 0:02:16 | 0:02:18
like Roald Dahl, David Walliams and Michael Rosen. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:22
And now illustrator Quentin Blake is letting people find out more | 0:02:22 | 0:02:25
about his best-loved creations in a new exhibition | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
in West Yorkshire. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
Tech has moved on since he first started drawing, but most | 0:02:30 | 0:02:34
of the time he still just uses a pen and paper - and it | 0:02:34 | 0:02:38
comes pretty naturally. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:39
I just feel I'm doing it, and it comes like that. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:45
And then you're also very conscious of, I mean, | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
I like scratchy nibs, things where you can feel | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
the marks on the paper, so you're getting that as well. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:55
Now to the kid taking on a mammoth music mission. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
When Matthew's teacher spotted his talent at playing the violin, | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
he wondered if he could lead a whole orchestra. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
So how's he getting on? | 0:03:03 | 0:03:04
Ayshah's been to see. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:10
Meet Matthew. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
At 11-years-old, he's ready to become one of the world's | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
youngest conductors. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
Pretty soon, he's going to be up on stage at the front | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
of this Symphony Orchestra, leading them through | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
a performance of an operetta called Die Fledermaus. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:26
Tell me a little bit about why you've decided to do conducting. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:31
At the start I never really wanted to start conducting, | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
because a few years back my music teacher, Derek, told me to learn | 0:03:34 | 0:03:39
this conducting piece, Die Fledermaus, the one I'm playing | 0:03:39 | 0:03:42
now, and I learned it in a few days. | 0:03:42 | 0:03:44
But at the time I wasn't able to conduct this | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
orchestra, but now I can. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:52
This is a really important rehearsal for Matthew. | 0:03:52 | 0:03:55
It's one of the last chances for the players | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
to get everything right before their massive performance. | 0:03:57 | 0:04:01
There are 75 players in the orchestra, and it's his job | 0:04:01 | 0:04:03
to lead them, keeping them all in time with each other | 0:04:03 | 0:04:06
and checking that the audience can hear all the different parts. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:12
My job with the orchestra is keeping time, making sure they're | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
playing the right things. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
I'm just controlling how they play, I can control if they play | 0:04:17 | 0:04:20
loud or really quiet. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:25
What is it like to be in control of all of those adults? | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
It's very difficult, because, as a kid, usually I don't | 0:04:28 | 0:04:33
really control them, they control me. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:36
But when I'm playing the song, I have to tell them what to do, | 0:04:36 | 0:04:40
and what to do when they start and when they finish. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:42
He's better than some adult conductors that I've played | 0:04:42 | 0:04:44
under before, actually! | 0:04:44 | 0:04:47
You have to put the stick higher so they see it, | 0:04:47 | 0:04:51
but you have to make sure they can see your stick because if they can't | 0:04:51 | 0:04:55
and they're not playing, they're just being really lazy. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:59
Well, it looks like you've got your work cut out, Matthew, | 0:04:59 | 0:05:01
so I'll leave you to it. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:10
Next, what do you think this strange image behind me is? | 0:05:10 | 0:05:13
Let's take a closer look. | 0:05:13 | 0:05:15
Well, it's actually the winner of the Engineering | 0:05:15 | 0:05:17
and Physical Sciences Research Council photography competition. | 0:05:17 | 0:05:21
And this image shows us a close-up of some swirling ink made | 0:05:21 | 0:05:23
from a material called graphene. | 0:05:23 | 0:05:25
It was taken by James Macleod and beat more than 100 | 0:05:25 | 0:05:28
entries to the top spot. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:32
Finally to a problem you'll never have thought about - | 0:05:32 | 0:05:35
how to move a really tall chimney? | 0:05:35 | 0:05:37
Well, really slowly is the answer. | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
This old factory chimney in the Netherlands is 44 metres high | 0:05:40 | 0:05:43
and weighs 450 tonnes. | 0:05:43 | 0:05:46
It took a truck around four hours to move it to a new site. | 0:05:46 | 0:05:51
Don't forget you can head online for loads more, | 0:05:51 | 0:05:54
Jenny will be here at 4.20pm. | 0:05:54 | 0:05:59
