Good afternoon.

0:00:030:00:04

Jenny here, with your Saturday afternoon Newsround.

0:00:040:00:06

We've got lots for you today, online and on TV.

0:00:060:00:09

Here's what's on the way over the next six minutes.

0:00:090:00:14

Meet the baby panda taking his first steps outside.

0:00:140:00:17

And it's a big day for rugby fans, on Earth and in space.

0:00:170:00:20

This is Newsround.

0:00:200:00:23

First, a powerful earthquake has destroyed buildings and caused huge

0:00:310:00:34

damage in the south of Taiwan, off the coast of China.

0:00:340:00:37

Rescue teams are working hard to save hundreds of people

0:00:370:00:40

who live there.

0:00:400:00:42

The earthquake struck close to the southern city of Tainan,

0:00:420:00:45

on the small island of Taiwan, in the early hours of the morning.

0:00:450:00:49

It's an area where earthquakes often happen,

0:00:490:00:51

but they aren't usually so big.

0:00:510:00:54

I just woke up suddenly and the whole building was shaking.

0:00:540:00:57

It was quite loud, noisy and I wasn't sure how long

0:00:570:01:01

it was going to last.

0:01:010:01:04

Firefighters, police and the army

0:01:040:01:06

are all working together to rescue people and animals

0:01:060:01:09

from the rubble.

0:01:090:01:10

But a lot of places are hard to reach.

0:01:100:01:12

Shelters are being set up for people whose homes have been badly damaged.

0:01:120:01:16

There are power cuts too,

0:01:160:01:19

and public transport has been stopped.

0:01:190:01:21

Exactly how much damage has been done is still not known,

0:01:210:01:23

but rescuers continue to work hard to make people safe.

0:01:230:01:32

And, a quick update on the big football match taking place

0:01:320:01:34

at the moment, where second-placed Man City are taking on league

0:01:340:01:38

leaders Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.

0:01:380:01:41

And it's looking good for Leicester at the moment,

0:01:410:01:43

as they're 1-0 up, thanks to a goal in the third minute

0:01:430:01:46

from defender Robert Huth.

0:01:460:01:48

The second half is just getting under way.

0:01:480:01:51

Sticking with sport, and it's time for all you rugby fans

0:01:510:01:54

out there to get up and support your country.

0:01:540:01:56

Why? Because the Six Nations tournament starts today.

0:01:560:01:59

Lots of you have been online to tell us who you'll be cheering for.

0:01:590:02:04

Rhianna from Swansea is a big Wales fan.

0:02:040:02:07

She says she wants to see Leigh Halfpenny because he went

0:02:070:02:10

She says she wants to see Leigh Halfpenny because he went

0:02:100:02:13

to the same school as she does!

0:02:130:02:16

And Jessica from London says she's really looking forward to

0:02:160:02:19

seeing England play.

0:02:190:02:20

She says she hopes they win this year.

0:02:200:02:22

So lets find out a bit more about the big names to watch.

0:02:220:02:25

Here's Martin with the low-down.

0:02:250:02:26

Which team will come out on top at this year's Six Nations?

0:02:260:02:30

Current champions Ireland have a tough opening match

0:02:300:02:32

against Wales, and they're missing a lot of their star players.

0:02:320:02:36

Luckily, they still have their captain Rory Best to keep

0:02:360:02:39

them going strong.

0:02:390:02:41

Wales captain Sam Warburton has called on his team-mates to start

0:02:410:02:44

this year's Six Nations with a bang.

0:02:440:02:47

The player to look out for is number 9, Gareth Davies.

0:02:470:02:50

New coach Eddie Jones' England team will be hoping to prove themselves

0:02:500:02:54

after a disappointing World Cup.

0:02:540:02:57

New captain Dylan Hartley will lead the team out against Scotland.

0:02:570:03:01

Scotland failed to win a single game

0:03:010:03:03

at last year's Six Nations.

0:03:030:03:05

But the players will feel more confident this year

0:03:050:03:06

after an impressive World Cup.

0:03:060:03:09

France welcome Italy this weekend and they are hoping to finish

0:03:090:03:12

in the top half of the table for the first time in four years.

0:03:120:03:16

Watch this space.

0:03:160:03:18

The Italians will be looking to some new players to get the result

0:03:180:03:21

they need when they travel to Paris.

0:03:210:03:23

Watch out for fly-half Carlo Canna.

0:03:230:03:25

It promises to be a fantastic tournament.

0:03:250:03:29

The thing is, only one team can lift the trophy.

0:03:290:03:32

Who will it be?

0:03:320:03:37

Thanks Martin, and here's proof the Six Nations really is

0:03:370:03:39

out of this world.

0:03:390:03:40

A special feed of today's Scotland v England match will be shown

0:03:400:03:43

on the International Space Station, so big rugby fan, astronaut

0:03:430:03:45

Tim Peake, won't have to miss a single try.

0:03:450:03:51

Well, it's been another busy week for Tim.

0:03:510:03:53

As well as getting excited about the rugby, and working hard

0:03:530:03:56

on the ISS of course, he found time to speak to hundreds

0:03:560:03:58

of school kids in Liverpool.

0:03:580:03:59

And he had to answer some pretty tricky questions.

0:03:590:04:04

Hello to the World Museum in Liverpool.

0:04:040:04:06

I hear you loud and clear.

0:04:060:04:07

Welcome on board the International Space Station to you and everybody

0:04:070:04:10

who is following the Cosmic Classroom on the Internet.

0:04:100:04:13

Good afternoon.

0:04:130:04:15

ALL: Good afternoon.

0:04:150:04:16

What is your favourite button on the ISS and what does it do?

0:04:160:04:19

This button on this panel here actually opens up

0:04:190:04:23

the door to outer space.

0:04:230:04:26

Is there a possibility of a meteor or a space junk hitting the ISS?

0:04:260:04:29

Actually, we do get hit by small particles every day.

0:04:290:04:35

And, if ever we are in any danger, then the ISS will simply move out

0:04:350:04:39

of the way and we will shift orbits to get out of the way

0:04:390:04:43

of any space debris.

0:04:430:04:44

But it's a great question.

0:04:440:04:46

I was really excited for waiting for being able to go up

0:04:460:04:49

and see him answer it live.

0:04:490:04:52

What is your favourite science experiment

0:04:520:04:55

on the International Space Station?

0:04:550:04:57

I do like the vegetables and flowers that we're growing in space.

0:04:570:05:01

I think that's really interesting that we can start

0:05:010:05:04

to grow our own food.

0:05:040:05:08

There are loads more Tim Peake stories online.

0:05:080:05:10

Find out why has he taken a doll into space with him.

0:05:100:05:13

You can also see the week's weirdest news stories -

0:05:130:05:15

they're very strange indeed -

0:05:150:05:17

and the sealion cub who was found in a restaurant!

0:05:170:05:21

Finally, it's been a big week for Bei Bei the panda cub,

0:05:210:05:24

who took his first steps out in the open at

0:05:240:05:26

the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, in America.

0:05:260:05:29

The five-month old panda didn't stop there.

0:05:290:05:32

After chilling out with his mum, he went on to do

0:05:320:05:34

a spot of tree climbing.

0:05:340:05:35

By the looks of it, he might need a bit more practice, though.

0:05:350:05:39

That's all from me, but there's loads more online to keep you busy

0:05:390:05:42

this wet Saturday afternoon.

0:05:420:05:45

Try out our Quiz of the Week.

0:05:450:05:46

Just for serious Newsround fans, question four is very tricky.

0:05:460:05:49

Our School is up next on CBBC.

0:05:490:05:51

I'm back tomorrow morning. See you then. Bye!
