Hi, I'm Hayley and

this is Newsround.

First, have you ever

seen anything on YouTube

or YouTube Kids that worried you?

There s been lots of reports

about videos being put up

on the site that are not

suitable for children.

Some of you have seen

upsetting videos on there,

when you thought you were watching

something meant for kids.

So as part of Safer Internet

Day, I decided to ask

These kids invited me to their

school to tell me about their

experiences on YouTube.

So we asked Katie

to come and meet us.

She is the director

of policy for Google,

who own YouTube.

First of all, can you tell us

how you are going to

make it as safe

as possible for kids?

We have actually built a whole

new platform for kids, where we

take the best content, stuff that

you're most interested in,

and put it in there on a package

that plays just for kids.

These kids have got stories to

tell you about their experiences

on YouTube and YouTube Kids.

you like to go first?

I was on YouTube listening

to a song and an advert

came up with scary messages.

And I was on kids you

Tube, I was watching

a video by a YouTuber

who is quite famous.

In the video he started swearing.

When I was on YouTube I logged

into a video about slime and

a scary image popped

up with blood on it.

I felt really scared

and I couldn't sleep that day.

I feel YouTube should

check their videos

because there are lots of children

of different ages watching.

I think YouTube should

watch it before we

watch it so kids like

me don't get scared.

All these guys have been upset

or hurt in some way by what

they have seen on YouTube

and gives YouTube.

So what have you got to say to them?

We don't want anyone to

have a tougher bad experience and we

work really hard to make sure that

people can see the kind of content

that we want.

So I'm really sorry for all

of you who have had good

experiences on YouTube but also bad

or tough experiences.

Is it not too late for the kids?

Surely you have a responsibility

to check these things before

any child sees them?

We have a responsibility

to make sure that the

platform can survive and can thrive,

so that we have a collection of

content that comes

from around the world.

We want people to do that in a safe

and responsible way.

We also know there is

a diverse amount of

content on YouTube,

as there is on the wider Internet,

and it wouldn't be fair if I sat

here and said to

you, we can make a perfectly safe.

Both things are still going wrong,

kids are still seeing things on

YouTube Kids that are inappropriate.

Do you need to work harder?

Do you need to do more?

Absolutely we need to do more.

We need to do more to make

sure that children can

experience the Internet in a way

they feel confident, and away they

feel safe, and away they feel

they can flag content that isn't

correct and they can get

the education and

support from us and from the wider

family and friends and school too.

All these kids here have been

quite hurt and upset.

Some have not been able

to sleep at night over what

they have seen on YouTube.

Would you like to take

this opportunity to say

sorry to them and other kids

who might have seen things

that are disturbing?

I find it very tough to hear

that you have seen and

experienced things you didn't want

to and you can't really difficult

on there.

I would really like to make sure

that doesn't happen again, and

I'm very, very sorry for any hurt

or discomfort that he found, because

that's not nice at any age.

While we're talking about staying

safe online, we know things

you see and hear online can

hurt your feelings or confuse you.

But that doesn t mean

you need to be scared.

Next, 100 years ago today,

a change in the law gave women

in the UK the right to vote

in general elections

for the very first time.

They still didn't have the same

voting rights as men,

but this date marked an important

step towards getting equality

between men and women.

But what does equality mean?

We spoke to some amazing women

to see what they had to say.

It means if the boys can do it, you

can do it too.

A quality means

listening to everybody and valuing

what they have to say no matter who

they are.

Everyone is exactly the

same. We are all the same people. We

are all humans. It's important in

society that everyone gets treated

with the same opportunities.

Life is

all about finding a passion and

living happily. With the quality it

means you can have that chance in a

matter who you are. Everybody

deserves it.

My favourite

description of equality comes from

an indigenous tribe in Latin

America, where they say our tribe is

like an eagle. An eagle has two

wings. One is male, one is female.

Only when the two wings are equal

will our tribe 's like true.
