Hi there, I'm Martin
and you're watching Newsround. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:14
First up, thousands
of homes across the UK | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
are still without water. | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
It's because of a water
shortage and it's meant some | 0:00:18 | 0:00:21
schools have had to shut. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:28
It's been pretty cold recently. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:29
Freezing, in fact. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
And while that's great for sledging
and snowball fights, | 0:00:31 | 0:00:35
now it's getting warmer,
it is causing problems, like this. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:38
Leaking and burst water pipes. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:42
Thousands of homes still don't
have running water. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
In parts of London, people
are relying on bottled water. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:49
It is the same for people affected
in the south of England | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
and some parts of Wales
and Scotland, too. | 0:00:51 | 0:00:55
The companies which supply
the water have apologised | 0:00:55 | 0:00:56
and say they are working
to fix the problems. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
But some schools have had to shut
and people are being asked to be | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
careful with the amount
of water they use. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:07
So it might mean another
day without a bath. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:13
With all the snow recently,
lots of you have probably been doing | 0:01:13 | 0:01:16
this, but one girl has added a bit
of a twist by clearing up | 0:01:16 | 0:01:20
rubbish at the same time. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:21
Check this out! | 0:01:21 | 0:01:27
Meet Amelia. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:28
She's eight and loves sledging. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
But hates all the rubbish
people leave behind, | 0:01:30 | 0:01:33
like these broken sleds. | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
So she is on a mission to clear up
Norwich's sledge trash. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:40
I was worried about the children
because if they were sledging, | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
they could cut themselves. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
I was really sad because an animal
could get its head stuck in here. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:50
Lots of people heard about Amelia's
big clean-up and came out to help, | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
including this trash-fighting hero. | 0:01:53 | 0:02:00
Remember Nadia, also
known as Trash Girl, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
who became famous for picking up
litter in Norwich on her bike? | 0:02:02 | 0:02:07
The fact that Amelia has done
something about it is | 0:02:07 | 0:02:11
really, really good. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
And Amelia's dad
is helping out, too. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
She likes being outside and I think
anything that spoils | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
being outside for her,
like rubbish and litter, | 0:02:18 | 0:02:20
she wants to do something about it. | 0:02:20 | 0:02:23
I just thought that everyone
was good and cared about nature, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:27
but apparently they don't. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
It is getting heavy. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:32
I'm not surprised. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
There is loads of stuff in there. | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
This rubbish doesn't stand
a chance with not one, | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
but two Trash Girls and their gang
of helpers clearing up. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:40
It has been good because I get
to meet someone who's | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
inspired by what I do. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:44
I'm really happy today
because I met my hero. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:48
So, rubbish of Norwich, watch out,
Trash Girls are coming to get you! | 0:02:48 | 0:02:56
Here on Newsround, we've been
travelling the country to hear some | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
of your amazing stories. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
This week we're hearing from Nasser
who likes to beatbox. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:11
HE BEAT BOXES. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:12
Shorty. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
Different. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:17
Immigrant. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:21
These are the words that
I have been labelled as. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
But I am so much more. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
I have been beat boxing
for three years now. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
I think I am actually
quite good at it. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:32
HE BEAT BOXES. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:40
I have been dancing
since I was five. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:43
And I am also a brother. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:46
A very protective brother. | 0:03:46 | 0:03:47
I always try to take care
of my sisters in any way possible. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:52
I was eight or nine I first
experienced racism. | 0:03:52 | 0:03:55
But after that, it kept
on going on and on and I felt | 0:03:55 | 0:03:58
a little bit depressed. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:03
It kind of like puts you down
when people talk to you like that. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:06
If you have ever experienced
something like I have, | 0:04:06 | 0:04:09
choose your friends wisely. | 0:04:09 | 0:04:12
The friends that are going to help
you get through tough times, | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
the friends who are always
going to pick you up | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
and you are down. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:19
Friends who are always
going to help you. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:21
Because those are the friends who
are going to be with you for life. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
Right now in life, I feel amazing. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:26
Honestly, I think my future
is going to be bright. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:28
But there are always
bumps in the way. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:33
Now take a look at this,
it's not your average egg! | 0:04:33 | 0:04:36
But it did come from a chicken. | 0:04:36 | 0:04:38
The farm owners in Queensland
in Australia were so egg-cited | 0:04:38 | 0:04:43
when they cracked the giant egg open
and there was another egg in there! | 0:04:43 | 0:04:47
Amazing! | 0:04:47 | 0:04:52
That's it from me. | 0:04:52 | 0:04:53
Ricky's back in the morning. | 0:04:53 | 0:04:59 |
