I'm Ayshah with Wednesday's Newsround.

:00:10.:00:12.

The Iraq War lasted for eight years and began after the US and UK

:00:13.:00:17.

Thousands of soldiers and Iraqi people lost their lives,

:00:18.:00:24.

and many people questioned why Britain and America got involved.

:00:25.:00:27.

Today the results of a special investigation into what happened

:00:28.:00:29.

In 2003, the US led an invasion of Iraq in the Middle East,

:00:30.:00:41.

They targeted the Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.

:00:42.:00:47.

The American and British leaders at the time said he was dangerous

:00:48.:00:50.

They also said that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction that

:00:51.:00:57.

Saddam Hussein said he didn't have any such weapons.

:00:58.:01:04.

But the American and UK leaders didn't believe him.

:01:05.:01:08.

Not everyone agreed with the decision to go to war -

:01:09.:01:14.

millions of people protested all over the UK.

:01:15.:01:19.

But the British Prime Minister at the time, Tony Blair,

:01:20.:01:22.

Iraq's army was defeated and Saddam Hussein was

:01:23.:01:25.

But no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq.

:01:26.:01:32.

The mission turned into a long war lasting eight years.

:01:33.:01:42.

4500 American troops died and the UK lost 179

:01:43.:01:44.

No-one knows for sure how many Iraqis died,

:01:45.:01:48.

It also left different groups in Iraq fighting

:01:49.:01:53.

Many people questioned why the UK and US got

:01:54.:01:57.

In 2009, the then British Prime Minster, Gordon Brown,

:01:58.:02:04.

set up a special investigation called the Chilcot Inquiry -

:02:05.:02:07.

Sir John Chilcot was asked to find out what happened in the run-up

:02:08.:02:14.

to the invasion and whether the right decisions were made.

:02:15.:02:17.

After nearly seven years, the results are finally being published.

:02:18.:02:25.

To the Euros in France, where tonight Wales will play

:02:26.:02:28.

They take on Portugal for the aid of a place in the final of Euro 2016.

:02:29.:02:42.

26 days ago, Wales played their first ever game at the Euros

:02:43.:02:44.

in Bordeaux where they beat Slovakia 2-1 to kick start their European

:02:45.:02:47.

So far, they've played 450 minutes of football,

:02:48.:02:50.

won four out of five matches and scored ten goals to reach

:02:51.:02:53.

They are now just one game away from making the final of Euro 2016.

:02:54.:02:59.

It's a truly incredible story of a team with unbreakable spirit

:03:00.:03:03.

A small country who have taken one of the world's biggest football

:03:04.:03:08.

Whatever happens tonight here in Lyon, one thing's for sure -

:03:09.:03:15.

this Wales team will be national heroes in their fans' eyes.

:03:16.:03:18.

And you lot have been sending in some special good luck

:03:19.:03:20.

messages for the team ahead of tonight's semifinal.

:03:21.:03:24.

Now, a lot of the talk in the build-up to this game has

:03:25.:04:14.

been focussed on the head-to-head clash between Real Madrid team mates

:04:15.:04:17.

And if you want to know more about Bale v Ronaldo -

:04:18.:04:25.

two of the world's greatest players - then just head

:04:26.:04:28.

I'll be back at 4:20pm with all the team news

:04:29.:04:34.

Thanks, Jenny, and there's also action at Wimbledon today.

:04:35.:04:40.
