is Newsround. First up, the seaside resort of

Sochi in Russia is putting together the final preparations ahead of the

Opening Ceremony of the 22nd Winter Games which takes place this

afternoon. There will be 98 gold medals won over 16 days of

competition, with 2,871 athletes from 87 National Olympic Committees

competing. Speed skater, Jon Eley, will fly the flag for Britain during

the opening ceremony which starts at 4:15pm our time. The Games haven't

come cheap though, costing a mighty ?30 billion - more than the combined

total of all other Olympic Winter Games that have ever been held. Some

of the competition got underway yesterday - Jamie Nicholls

qualifying for the final in the snowboarding Slopestyle with this

miss. Next, the bad weather has led to

police asking everyone living in the village of Moorland, in Somerset, to

evacuate, after flood defences were overcome. Royal Marines have been

drafted in for the first time to help with the evacuation and protect

properties after another night of heavy rain. Later today, winds of up

to 70 miles an hour forecast and there is more wet weather due at the

yesterday, you'll have seen our story about the Prime Minister

promising all primary schools in England around ?9,000 each to spend

on sport every year until 2020. David Cameron wants to build on the

legacy of London 2012. But there has been some criticism over how the

government deals with sport in schools. You sent in some questions

for us to ask the PM and Martin put some of them to him.

If you want to change sport in schools and increase it in schools,

it is right to start with primary schools because you are starting

with children at an early age. All schools need sport so it makes

sense to give this money to all schools. The bigger schools get

slightly more and the smaller schools get less. But typically a

250 pupil primary school will get ?9,250 a year. I went to a

mainstream school in Glasgow and whenever he was on I got sent to the

library, how can you make sure that does not happen now? This programme

of sport should be for all children, those with disabilities and those

without. That is why the money matters because sometimes you do

need specialist teachers and people with expertise who know how to

involve disabled children in sporting activities.

Thanks Martin, well the opposition Labour Party say this extra money is

a good idea but think the Government were wrong to get rid of one of

their plans to make all primary school children in England do two

hours of sport a week. And one of the biggest teaching unions the NUT

is welcoming the extra money but says given that many primary schools

don't have dedicated PE teachers it doesn't add up to a great deal.

Hundreds of people in Brazil have clashed with police during a protest

about increased fares for public transport. Police were caught up in

the demonstrations and riots police that two fire tear gas. Last year

thousands of people filled the streets in Brazil to protest about

the cost of living and what they see as money wasted on the World Cup. .

Bad news for Manchester United fans this morning. Your captain, Nemanja

Vidic, has announced that he's leaving the club at the end of the

season. The defender won't be staying in England and has told the

club that United are the only team in the Premier League he'll play
