Firefighters in California

on the west coast of America

are still desperately battling

to contain the wildfires

in the area.

Nearly 200,000 people have been

evacuated as winds blowing

westward from the California desert

have caused more fires to break out.

The Governor of California Jerry

Brown has declared a state

of emergency in the area.

Brace yourselves, kids,

because winter is well

and truly on its way.

Snow, ice and windy conditions

are set to hit large

parts of the UK today

as Storm Caroline passes over us

on its way towards Scandinavia.

The worst of the weather

is due to hit Scotland,

Northern Ireland, and the Northwest.

Next, singer Ellie Goulding

has joined in the fight

to save the planet by becoming a UN

ambassador - Ayshah has more.

It's not all about singing

and performing for Ellie Goulding.

She's become a UN goodwill

ambassador for the environment.

Her new role means she wants

to help protect our planet.

I feel very honoured to be part

of the UN as a goodwill ambassador

for the environment.

I've cared about the environment

for as long as I can remember,

I grew up in the countryside in

England.

And I think now we've got to a very

crucial point where we have

to start taking action.

And so I'm hoping to inspire

and engage my younger fans

to all loving our planet as much

as I do.

What better way to celebrate

than by visiting the Masai Mara

National reserve in Kenia.

Feeding a giraffe, watching

elephants, and having a dance

with some of the locals.

Cristiano Ronaldo has

won his fith Ballon d'Or beating

Barcelona's Lionel Messi

to this year's title.

It's the second year in a row

that he's won the award

and has now won it the same amount

of times as Messi.

He helped Real Madrid win

the Champions League and their first

La Liga title since 2012 this year

and scored 42 goals for Real

in all competitions.

Not bad going.

The Rock, Kevin Hart and Jack Black,

three of the biggest movie stars

on the planet.

They've got a new movie.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.

The movie is about teenagers

who are in high school

who find a video game,

a very old video game.

They're sucked into the video game

and they get delivered

into the world of Jumanji

and the adventure begins.

I'm an overweight middle-aged man.

What's your favourite

moment in the movie?

Well, there's a scene

when we're all just sitting

around a big basket.

We're not sure what's in it and then

we find out there's a gigantic

killer snake inside that basket.

Scary, too.

That would be my favourite.

The snake is huge.

OK, what's the funnest

moment behind the scenes?

It would have to be

when they pulled a prank on me.

Dwayne and the crew,

they knew I was scared of spiders

so they decided to put a fake spider

by my leg and everybody

reacted as if it was real.

And they saw me jump up and go crazy

and they got it all on tape.

Is that good?
