First up this morning -

he's been wowing fans for more

than a hundred years and now,

finally, he's going on tour.

No, I'm not talking about your

grandad's favourite rock bad,

I'm talking about this guy...

Dippy the Dinosaur!

He's been on display

in London's Natural History Museum.

But last year he started getting

ready for his grand tour.

And now it's close

to opening night in...

Dorset!

Going on a two year two.

He's been

out of the public gaze for more than

100 years. He has been refurbished

and is in Canada and will go on a

nationwide tour of all the nations

across the national capitals. He is

a magnificent creature and what's

really cool about this is that

Dorchester is the home of

paleontology, we are up the road

from the Jurassic Coast, people are

still finding dinosaur fossils.

From here he'll be heading around

the UK giving fans all over

the country a chance

to enjoy his magic!

Here at Newsround we are pretty

excited about this one.

Today is the first official day

of the Winter Olympics!

This year it's being held

in PyeongChang in South Korea.

And it's expected to be one

of the coldest games on record -

with temperatures around -20.

Athletes from all over the world

will be competing in 15

different winter sports.

But how much do you know

about the host country?

Here's Ricky, who's

been finding out...

Hello and welcome to South Korea.

Home of kimchi, K-Pop and now

the 2018 Winter Olympics.

But how much do you know

about the country?

We've got some fun

facts to keep you in

the know.

Did you know kimchi is one

of the country's popular dishes but

what on earth is it?

It's made from spicy pickled

cabbage which has been

fermented in a jar

for a number of months.

Sounds a bit weird but it's

actually super tasty.

Koreans have around

250 different recipes

for kimchi and they usually

eat it with every meal.

Did you know that in Korea

you are actually older?

That's because they count

birthdays a bit differently.

In Korea you are born

aged one instead of zero

and on the new year

you gain an extra year

so if you were born

in

December by January you'd be two

years old in Korea, even though

you'd only be a few

days old in the UK.

Music is a huge part

of Korean culture and one

of the biggest genres

is K-Pop, short for Korean pop.

The music often features big dance

routines and lots of fashionable

outfit changes, bands like BTS,

Twice, XO and Black Pink are super

popular in Korea and

around the world and get

millions of views for

their videos.

Pyeongchang is the chosen

location in Korea but this

year's Olympics but did you know it

also has its own slogan which goes

'Happy 700 Pyeongchang', that's

because around 84% of the area is

made up of mountains.

It sits an average height

of 700 metres above

sea level.

This means the country gets

lots of snow which is pretty

great for winter sports!

But there's bad news from one

of Team GB's gold medal

hopefuls this morning.

British snowboarder Katie Ormerod.

She's been ruled out of the games

after fracturing her heel.

She injured herself yesterday.

Taking to Instagram,

Katie shared a picture of her x-ray.

She's said she is gutted.

She is said to have emergency

surgery today.

Former Olympian Katherine Grainger's

says the team will really miss her.

She's an amazing athlete, she's had

her fair share of injuries but she

so resilient, she always comes back,

you wouldn't want this to happen to

any athlete but the rest of the team

will miss her, she's a big member of

the team, we will miss her, we wish

her a great recovery and when she

said and well she can start looking

forward and focusing on the future

and fulfilling the great potential

that she has.

Now, if you could design your own

school uniform how would it look?

Bright and colourful?

With some super-cool

gadgets perhaps?

Well one school in Japan's

fashionable capital city of Tokyo

has given their school uniform

a designer makeover -

and parents aren't happy.

This is the new look school kit.

It costs a whopping £500.

It was created by Italian

fashion designer Armani

and includes a bag and a hat.

Some parents have complained

about the price tag and said

a designer uniform sends the wrong

message to kids about

what's important.

Here at Newsround we think

you could do much better

than Armani when it comes

to designing a uniform.
