Hi, I'm Whitney, and this

is your Friday afternoon Newsround.

0:00:040:00:06

Coming up...

0:00:060:00:09

The dinosaur drawing crowds on tour.

0:00:090:00:12

Plus...

0:00:120:00:13

Your ideas of how to improve this

super-spendy school uniform.

0:00:130:00:17

Keep watching.

0:00:170:00:25

First, the winter Olympics in

South Korea are officially underway!

0:00:270:00:29

It is being held in

Pyeongchang in South Korea.

0:00:290:00:35

Athletes from all over the world

will be competing in 15

0:00:350:00:38

different winter sports -

and today they gathered

0:00:380:00:42

in the Olympic Stadium

to parade their flags as part

0:00:420:00:46

of the opening ceremony.

0:00:460:00:47

I've been taking a look at some

of the highlights from the big show.

0:00:470:00:51

Every Olympic ceremony

is a huge spectacle

0:00:510:00:54

and South Korea's didn't disappoint.

0:00:540:01:00

There was music, dancing

and giant animals

0:01:000:01:03

Team GB were led out by golden

girl Lizzie Yarnold.

0:01:030:01:11

Team GB were led out

by golden girl Lizzy Yarnold.

0:01:120:01:14

She's hoping to win gold again

in the skeleton event.

0:01:140:01:16

As you might expect,

it was a cold evening

0:01:160:01:18

so everyone is wrapped up warm.

0:01:180:01:20

But looks like somebody

forgot their coat -

0:01:200:01:22

he must be freezing!

0:01:220:01:23

That's Tonga's flagbearer.

0:01:230:01:25

But what everyone's talking

about is North and South Korea.

0:01:250:01:29

The two neighbouring countries have

been enemies since a war

0:01:290:01:32

that started in 1950 -

but they've united in the name

0:01:320:01:35

of sport and walked together

under the same flag.

0:01:350:01:40

And officials from both

countries even shook hands.

0:01:400:01:45

The Olympic flame was lit

and of course there

0:01:450:01:48

were lots of fireworks!!

0:01:480:01:53

Next, if you could design your own

school uniform, how would it look?

0:01:530:01:56

Bright and colourful?

0:01:560:01:57

With some super-cool

gadgets, perhaps?

0:01:570:02:00

Well, one school in Japan's

fashionable city of Tokyo has

0:02:000:02:03

given their school uniform

a designer makeover -

0:02:030:02:06

and parents aren't happy.

0:02:060:02:08

This is the new look school kit.

0:02:080:02:11

It costs a whopping £500.

0:02:110:02:15

It was created by Italian

fashion designer Armani

0:02:150:02:17

and includes a bag and a hat.

0:02:170:02:19

Some parents have complained

about the price tag and said

0:02:190:02:22

a designer uniform sends the wrong

message to kids about

0:02:220:02:26

what's important.

0:02:260:02:28

We asked for your views on this one

- and to let us know how your dream

0:02:280:02:32

school uniform would look.

0:02:320:02:34

Emily in Glasgow sent

us this picture.

0:02:340:02:36

She's given her school uniform some

super-cute cat ears.

0:02:360:02:38

Loving that one Emily.

0:02:380:02:42

Chloe got in touch to say she'd

like to wear her pyjamas to school

0:02:420:02:46

while Freya thinks kids uniforms

should express their personalities.

0:02:460:02:48

Class 5DH at Robert Browning Primary

would like to see high-tech

0:02:480:02:51

safety gadgets built

in to their dream uniform.

0:02:510:02:53

Meanwhile, Year 3 at Holy Trinity,

Wakefield, would like uniforms

0:02:530:02:55

made from chocolate.

0:02:550:03:01

Tasty, but a bit messy, I think!

0:03:010:03:05

Thanks for all your comments, guys.

0:03:050:03:08

Next - he's been wowing fans

for more than 100 years and now,

0:03:080:03:11

finally, he's going on tour.

0:03:110:03:14

No, I'm not talking about your

grandad's favourite rock band,

0:03:140:03:16

I'm talking about this guy.

0:03:160:03:20

Dippy the Dinosaur!

0:03:200:03:23

He's been on display in London's

Natural History Museum for ages.

0:03:230:03:26

But last year he started getting

ready for his grand tour.

0:03:260:03:29

And now it s close to opening night

and it all kicks off in Dorset!

0:03:290:03:33

A massive 292 bones make up Dippy,

and one lucky dinosaur fan even got

0:03:330:03:38

He's very, very, very, very bid!

My

favourite part is his tail. It

0:03:380:03:44

starts really big and then it goes

really

0:03:440:03:53

really thin.

0:03:530:03:53

A massive 292 bones make up Dippy,

and one lucky dinosaur fan even got

0:03:530:03:57

to fit the last piece in.

0:03:570:03:58

I was really excited

but also a bit nervous.

0:03:580:04:00

From Dorset, he'll be heading around

the UK giving fans all over

0:04:000:04:03

the country a chance

to enjoy his magic!

0:04:030:04:05

Rock on, Dippy!

0:04:050:04:08

Finally - it's Friday!

0:04:080:04:11

So perhaps you're planning to do

something fun this evening.

0:04:110:04:15

If you've not made up your mind yet

- why not take inspiration

0:04:150:04:18

from these next guys and catch

a 3D movie?

0:04:180:04:21

Yes, these insects

are wearing 3D glasses!

0:04:210:04:26

Scientists used beeswax to carefully

attach the tiny specs

0:04:260:04:31

to the little critters

which are called praying mantis.

0:04:310:04:34

They've been doing experiments

to find out more about the way

0:04:340:04:36

the insects see, which they hope

will help to develop better robots.

0:04:360:04:44

Head online for our weirdest news of

the week! And while you're there,

0:04:460:04:52

check out some amazing photos of the

world from a whole new angle!

0:04:520:04:56

That's all for now.

0:04:560:04:57

Newsround's back in the morning.

0:04:570:04:59

Have a great Friday night!
