Hi, I'm Martin with Thursday
morning's top stories. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
Coming up on Newsround. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:13
I investigate the craze for rock
painting. And take a look at this. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:19
The amazing home-made ironman suit. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:25
First up, football and
Northern Ireland are hoping | 0:00:26 | 0:00:28
to qualify for the World Cup. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
They face Switzerland
tonight at Windsor park | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
in the first leg of a play-off,
with the second leg on Sunday. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
The winners after two games,
will play at the tournament | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
next summer in Russia. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
Next, to a refugee swimmer whose
story is so amazing it's now | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
being made in to a film. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:56
Yusra competed as a swimmer at the
Rio Olympics last year but less than | 0:00:58 | 0:01:03
a year before that, she was forced
to leave her home in Syria because | 0:01:03 | 0:01:07
of the war. When they were telling
me I was leaving to do the Olympics, | 0:01:07 | 0:01:13
I was so surprised because only a
year before I was a refugee. I am | 0:01:13 | 0:01:19
going in the refugee team, it was
incredible. She took part in the | 0:01:19 | 0:01:25
first ever team refugee but Yusra's
life hasn't always been this much | 0:01:25 | 0:01:29
fun. It took a 25 days to travel
from Syria to Europe. Part of that | 0:01:29 | 0:01:35
journey was in a boat and when it
began to sink, she got into the sea | 0:01:35 | 0:01:39
along with her sister and helped
save 19 others who were on board. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:45
It's OK, I helped the vote and so
on, but it was not just me or my | 0:01:45 | 0:01:51
sister. But you can imagine they
told you it was 45 minutes trip but | 0:01:51 | 0:01:56
it took three and a half hours. She
now lives in Germany and is training | 0:01:56 | 0:02:01
for the next Olympics at Tokyo in
2020. My dream is to be an athlete. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:10
If I am going to start for Germany
or for my country over the refugee | 0:02:10 | 0:02:15
Olympic team, it would be my dream
come true and I would do the best I | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
can. Now her story is being made
into a film. Let's hope she gets | 0:02:18 | 0:02:24
some time out of the water to watch
it. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27 | |
Next, to a massive rock group. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
No, not that kind. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:30
I've been to meet the kids getting
out their paintbrushes and heading | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
to the bottom of the garden
for a new craze. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:35
Watch this. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
Fidget spinners, JoJo Bos, making
slime at home. These are just some | 0:02:37 | 0:02:41
of the things you guys love. But I'm
not here to talk about them. I've | 0:02:41 | 0:02:47
come to this special rock painting
club to find out why these rocks | 0:02:47 | 0:02:52
Rock. Yes, a new rock trend is
sweeping the nation. Let's find out | 0:02:52 | 0:02:56
how it works and why kids up and
down the country are doing it. So, | 0:02:56 | 0:03:03
what you have to do is you paint
rocks and then you go out and you | 0:03:03 | 0:03:08
hide them. You take a picture, put
it on Facebook and show that you | 0:03:08 | 0:03:14
found it and then you read hide it.
I'm doing it because I like people | 0:03:14 | 0:03:20
to get out the house instead of
being lazy on their electronics. You | 0:03:20 | 0:03:24
can let your imagination run free
and do anything you want. Find a | 0:03:24 | 0:03:28
rock and start drawing on it. I
enjoyed doing it because it gets me | 0:03:28 | 0:03:32
out of the house. Instead of being
sat there with your frigid spinner, | 0:03:32 | 0:03:37
you can go outside and have a hunter
with your friends. It gets you will | 0:03:37 | 0:03:41
together. -- with your fidget
spinner. So, we have done our | 0:03:41 | 0:03:48
painting. Now it's time to hide
them. Are you guys ready? Let's go. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:54
Let's go. So if you are out and
about and managed to find a painted | 0:03:54 | 0:03:58
rock, you can choose to keep it or
hide it again for someone else to | 0:03:58 | 0:04:03
find. So get out there and get
painting. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:09
Next, check out this real-life
Iron Man who's been flying | 0:04:12 | 0:04:14
high across England. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:15
British inventor
Richard Browning set the first world | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
speed record for "flying
a body-controlled jet | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
engine power suit". | 0:04:19 | 0:04:22
Richard flew his jet suit
across a lake in Reading. | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
Guinness World Records
logged his top speed at just | 0:04:26 | 0:04:29
over 32 miles per hour. | 0:04:29 | 0:04:34
Every time you take this equipment
out, you never really know how it's | 0:04:34 | 0:04:38
going to work out. It's all very
new, there's no rule book, guidebook | 0:04:38 | 0:04:42
or manual. I'm just delighted we got
some really good runs in. We took a | 0:04:42 | 0:04:48
little bit of a swim on 14 but that
just proves we push the boundaries. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:52
That's all for now but I'll be
back with loads more | 0:04:52 | 0:04:55
in around half an hour. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:58 |
