Afternoon, it's Whitney
here with your Saturday Newsround. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:16
Now if you're heading out
and about today make sure you wrap | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
up warm because winter has
well and truly arrived, | 0:00:19 | 0:00:23
Snow has been falling
in parts of Scotland, | 0:00:23 | 0:00:26
Northern Ireland, Wales,
and Northern England | 0:00:26 | 0:00:28
and temperatures could drop
to as low as -6. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:32
And the snow won't be disappearing
overnight as experts are predicting | 0:00:32 | 0:00:37
that the weather is due to get
worse on sunday. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:43
Looks like it's time
to get your sledges out. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
Next, if you're from a country
in the European Union | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
but you are living in the UK,
or if you are British and living | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
in a country in the European Union,
we've got some big news for you. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:55
Watch this. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:56
So, the UK is leaving a club of 28
countries called the European Union. | 0:00:56 | 0:01:00
A lot of people have
called this Brexit. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
When British people voted to leave
last year, it wasn't | 0:01:02 | 0:01:04
clear what would happen
to the three million people from | 0:01:04 | 0:01:09
the EU who live here in Britain. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
And also, what would
happen to British people | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
living in EU countries. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:15
And that got some people worried. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:19
But now the British government
and the European Union have agreed | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
that everyone will be allowed
to carry on living and working | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
where they are now. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
The two sides say they have also
come to an agreement about | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
the border between Northern Ireland
and the Republic of Ireland. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
This issue has caused big problems,
and the details still | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
need to be worked out. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
And finally, it has also been agreed
that when the UK leaves, | 0:01:41 | 0:01:44
it will pay money to the EU. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
Although it is not yet known
how much that will be, | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
it is likely to cost tens
of billions of pounds. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:54
So that is Brexit all sorted, then? | 0:01:54 | 0:01:55
Well, not quite. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
Even though the two sides have
agreed on these three big issues, | 0:01:58 | 0:02:03
there are still loads of things
we will need to sort out before | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
the UK leaves the EU in 2019. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:12
In the Premier League the big match
between West Ham and Chelsea | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
kicked off just over half
an hour ago. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
And it didn't take West Ham long
to get on the scoresheet, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:20
Marko Arnautovic scored with this
excellent finish after | 0:02:20 | 0:02:22
a beautiful bit of play. | 0:02:22 | 0:02:26
The score is currently
1-0 but Chelsea have | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
had their chances to equalise. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
Next to a guest who
is out of this world, | 0:02:31 | 0:02:34
astronaut Tim Peake came
into the studio yesterday to answer | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
some of your questions. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
Take a look. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:40
This is no longer Newsround HQ. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
Just for a moment, this
is Mission Control and that's | 0:02:42 | 0:02:46
because we have a very special guest
who is about to join all of us here. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:52
Are you guys ready? | 0:02:52 | 0:02:53
Yes! | 0:02:53 | 0:02:54 | |
I think they're ready. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56
It is the one, the only,
it's Tim Peake. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:00
Hi, guys. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
Hiya. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:03 | |
That is wonderful, Tim. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:04
Ayshah, lovely to meet you. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:09
Welcome to Newsround. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:10
Thank you very much. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:11
Take a seat right here for us. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
Thank you. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:14
Tim, thank you so much
for joining us at Newsround HQ. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
Let's go straight in to the first
question right here. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:19
What do you miss most about space? | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
Two things, really. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:22
I think the first thing I miss
is weightlessness, you know, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
floating around in space
and the second thing | 0:03:24 | 0:03:26
is the view of Planet Earth. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
And I know we have a great
question here as well. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30
What's your question? | 0:03:30 | 0:03:31
If you were to name a new planet,
what would you name it? | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
I'd have to see it first. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
I think you've got to see something
to be able to come up with a name. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:40
But, yeah, I mean, there's loads
of new planets out there and there's | 0:03:40 | 0:03:43
loads of potential for it. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:44
What about you? | 0:03:44 | 0:03:45
What's your question? | 0:03:45 | 0:03:46
So, what differences in, like,
experience is there from Earth's | 0:03:46 | 0:03:49
atmosphere to zero gravity? | 0:03:49 | 0:03:49
Wow. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:51 | |
I mean, coming back into Earth's
atmosphere is incredible. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
You get the re-entry,
you get the heat, the deceleration. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
Up in space it's really liberating. | 0:03:56 | 0:03:58
You're just floating around
and seeing the stars | 0:03:58 | 0:04:00
at night and the Earth
by day, it's beautiful. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
I'm going to squeeze one more in. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:04
What's your question? | 0:04:04 | 0:04:05
Who or what was your inspiration
to become an amazing astronaut? | 0:04:05 | 0:04:08
Well, I've had a lot
of inspirational characters | 0:04:08 | 0:04:11
throughout my life and the first
thing I wanted to do was become | 0:04:11 | 0:04:14
a pilot, test pilot. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:15
So people like Chuck Yeager
and reading books like | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
The Right Stuff for me
was very inspirational. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:25
Finally, it's national trick shot
day, and who better to take | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
on the challenge than one
of Harlem Globtrotters | 0:04:28 | 0:04:33
basketball team? | 0:04:33 | 0:04:36
Take it away. | 0:04:36 | 0:04:38
There's a bus on the
roof of the building. | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
You can't make this stuff up. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:42
Oh, yeah. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:43
Right there. | 0:04:43 | 0:04:44
Lovely shooting. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:46
Trick shot. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:47
From that bus. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:49
All aboard. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:56
Next stop World Trick Shot Day. | 0:04:56 | 0:05:00
Happy World Trick
Shot Day, everyone. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:12
That's how we do it! | 0:05:19 | 0:05:27
Happy World Trick Shot Day. | 0:05:27 | 0:05:29
Let's go! | 0:05:29 | 0:05:39
That's it from me for today. | 0:05:55 | 0:05:57
We'll be back tomorrow morning. | 0:05:57 | 0:05:58
Bye. | 0:05:58 | 0:06:00 | |
EPIC FANFARE | 0:06:04 | 0:06:06 |
