when we have Luis Suarez. Make sure you are their! | :00:00. | :00:00.
It's Friday 10th January and you're watching Newsround with me, Ayshah. | :00:00. | :00:09.
On the way this morning: Jessie J talks to Newsround about Brit | :00:10. | :00:14.
nominations and best friends. And we check out some very lucky | :00:15. | :00:15.
runners. This is Newsround! At the beginning of January 2014, | :00:16. | :00:34.
people from the Eastern European countries Bulgaria and Romania | :00:35. | :00:38.
gained the right to work in the UK with no restrictions. When both | :00:39. | :00:40.
countries joined the European Union in 2007, controls were placed on the | :00:41. | :00:44.
number of people who could seek jobs in other EU countries. But there's | :00:45. | :00:48.
been a lot of public concern about immigration in the UK and some | :00:49. | :00:51.
people are worried that extra people will have an impact on jobs, housing | :00:52. | :00:54.
and schools. I've been looking into it. | :00:55. | :01:08.
Here at this school in Boston in Lincolnshire, on the East of | :01:09. | :01:13.
England, 65% of kids don't have English as their first language. | :01:14. | :01:18.
Most people in the UK want less immigration. A recent survey found | :01:19. | :01:21.
nearly eight out of ten people want a cut to the number of people coming | :01:22. | :01:26.
in. Some are worried about the pressure on housing, jobs and | :01:27. | :01:31.
schools. The if we have a number of children who require places, we | :01:32. | :01:36.
would love to give them a place, but we are pretty much full. One in ten | :01:37. | :01:40.
people in this town from Eastern Europe. In 2004 people from | :01:41. | :01:44.
countries like Poland, this eyes-macro Lithuania and Latvia made | :01:45. | :01:49.
Boston their home. After the EU, which groups together 28 countries, | :01:50. | :01:53.
including the UK, said they could live wherever they wanted. What has | :01:54. | :02:03.
it been like for these children? It is difficult. A lot of English | :02:04. | :02:06.
children were coming up to me and saying things in English and I | :02:07. | :02:10.
didn't understand them. I'd just like walked away because I didn't | :02:11. | :02:16.
get what was said. I didn't understand any words in English. I'm | :02:17. | :02:23.
getting better at English so I will get friends. And now Romanians and | :02:24. | :02:27.
Bulgarians have the same right to live and work in the UK with no | :02:28. | :02:31.
restrictions. This girl is Romanian but she has been here since she was | :02:32. | :02:34.
five years old. What are some of the negative stereotypes? That we are | :02:35. | :02:41.
all poor people who want to take away everything the British have, | :02:42. | :02:45.
like jobs. How does that make you feel? I don't like it because they | :02:46. | :02:52.
should not make assumptions. We don't know how many Romanians and | :02:53. | :02:56.
Bulgarians will come to the UK and here in Boston, as well as in the | :02:57. | :03:00.
rest of the country, they will have to wait and see their town will | :03:01. | :03:15.
change again. Three quarters of the world's large | :03:16. | :03:18.
carnivores - the likes of lions, wolves and bears - are in massive | :03:19. | :03:21.
decline, according to a new study. Scientists studied 31 big meat | :03:22. | :03:25.
eaters and found numbers are most at risk in the Amazon, South East Asia, | :03:26. | :03:28.
southern and east Africa. They say the decline is due to the animals | :03:29. | :03:31.
losing their habitat, being hunted by humans and not being able to find | :03:32. | :03:35.
enough food. Now the scientists are calling for a worldwide programme to | :03:36. | :03:38.
help protect the animals affected. Next, lots of excitement in the | :03:39. | :03:42.
world of pop last night as the stars nominated for a Brit Award were | :03:43. | :03:45.
announced by Radio One's Nick Grimshaw at a party in London. Pop | :03:46. | :03:49.
acts Disclosure and Bastille are in front with four nominations each, | :03:50. | :03:51.
closely followed by Ellie Goulding and dance act Rudimental with three. | :03:52. | :03:55.
There are two nominations for One Direction - Best British Group and | :03:56. | :03:57.
Best British Single. Jessie J is nominated for a fourth | :03:58. | :04:01.
year in a row, this time for Best British Female, where she's up | :04:02. | :04:04.
against her best mate Ellie Goulding. Martin was at the | :04:05. | :04:06.
nominations party in London, and caught up Jessie J herself. | :04:07. | :04:10.
One of my best friends is in the category of Best female. She has had | :04:11. | :04:13.
the best year this year. She is amazing. I am so proud of her. I | :04:14. | :04:18.
know she is a bit behind me on the red carpet. I think she is going to | :04:19. | :04:21.
win something. Martin will be here at 8.15 with | :04:22. | :04:25.
more gossip from the nominations party. And head to the Newsround | :04:26. | :04:28.
website to see him chatting to the big stars like Ellie Goulding and a | :04:29. | :04:31.
very excited Rudimental. You can also see a list of all the nominees | :04:32. | :04:35.
there, too. Now, we all want to be lucky. Do you | :04:36. | :04:39.
cross your fingers? Or have a lucky number? In Japan, luck goes to the | :04:40. | :04:43.
man who runs the fastest. Around 5,000 men dashed through a shrine | :04:44. | :04:46.
hoping to win good luck for the year ahead. The winner was 19-year-old | :04:47. | :04:51.
runner Seiki Kyoda. He looks pretty pleased with himself! | :04:52. | :04:55.
That's all from us for now, but I'll be back at 8.15 with your next | :04:56. | :04:58.
update. See you all in a bit. Bye! | :04:59. | :04:59. |
