On the way this morning: Jessie J talks to Newsround about Brit

nominations and best friends. And we check out some very lucky

runners. This is Newsround! At the beginning of January 2014,

people from the Eastern European countries Bulgaria and Romania

gained the right to work in the UK with no restrictions. When both

countries joined the European Union in 2007, controls were placed on the

number of people who could seek jobs in other EU countries. But there's

been a lot of public concern about immigration in the UK and some

people are worried that extra people will have an impact on jobs, housing

and schools. I've been looking into it.

Here at this school in Boston in Lincolnshire, on the East of

England, 65% of kids don't have English as their first language.

Most people in the UK want less immigration. A recent survey found

nearly eight out of ten people want a cut to the number of people coming

in. Some are worried about the pressure on housing, jobs and

schools. The if we have a number of children who require places, we

would love to give them a place, but we are pretty much full. One in ten

people in this town from Eastern Europe. In 2004 people from

countries like Poland, this eyes-macro Lithuania and Latvia made

Boston their home. After the EU, which groups together 28 countries,

including the UK, said they could live wherever they wanted. What has

it been like for these children? It is difficult. A lot of English

children were coming up to me and saying things in English and I

didn't understand them. I'd just like walked away because I didn't

get what was said. I didn't understand any words in English. I'm

getting better at English so I will get friends. And now Romanians and

Bulgarians have the same right to live and work in the UK with no

restrictions. This girl is Romanian but she has been here since she was

five years old. What are some of the negative stereotypes? That we are

all poor people who want to take away everything the British have,

like jobs. How does that make you feel? I don't like it because they

should not make assumptions. We don't know how many Romanians and

Bulgarians will come to the UK and here in Boston, as well as in the

rest of the country, they will have to wait and see their town will

change again. Three quarters of the world's large

carnivores - the likes of lions, wolves and bears - are in massive

decline, according to a new study. Scientists studied 31 big meat

eaters and found numbers are most at risk in the Amazon, South East Asia,

southern and east Africa. They say the decline is due to the animals

losing their habitat, being hunted by humans and not being able to find

enough food. Now the scientists are calling for a worldwide programme to

help protect the animals affected. Next, lots of excitement in the

world of pop last night as the stars nominated for a Brit Award were

announced by Radio One's Nick Grimshaw at a party in London. Pop

acts Disclosure and Bastille are in front with four nominations each,

closely followed by Ellie Goulding and dance act Rudimental with three.

There are two nominations for One Direction - Best British Group and

Best British Single. Jessie J is nominated for a fourth

year in a row, this time for Best British Female, where she's up

against her best mate Ellie Goulding. Martin was at the

nominations party in London, and caught up Jessie J herself.

One of my best friends is in the category of Best female. She has had

the best year this year. She is amazing. I am so proud of her. I

know she is a bit behind me on the red carpet. I think she is going to

win something. Martin will be here at 8.15 with

man who runs the fastest. Around 5,000 men dashed through a shrine

hoping to win good luck for the year ahead. The winner was 19-year-old

runner Seiki Kyoda. He looks pretty pleased with himself!
