You're watching Newsround this Monday afternoon with me, Ricky.

:00:00.:00:07.

Plenty to get through over the next five minutes.

:00:08.:00:10.

How free messaging apps are taking over the text message.

:00:11.:00:14.

And can you tell your blue tit's tweets from your robin's'?

:00:15.:00:17.

This is Newsround. First, we're talking about healthy

:00:18.:00:26.

eating and how we know what's good for us and what isn't. We all know

:00:27.:00:31.

that too many chocolates, fizzy drinks or crisps are a bad idea. But

:00:32.:00:35.

what about things like fruit juice? It comes from fruit and sounds

:00:36.:00:39.

healthy, but now a top health advisor is saying we should avoid it

:00:40.:00:42.

because many fruit juices contain unhealthy amounts of sugar. It's all

:00:43.:00:45.

very confusing. Leah has been looking into it.

:00:46.:00:48.

Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, health experts agree we

:00:49.:00:52.

should all be eating plenty of fruit and veg like this, to help keep us

:00:53.:00:58.

healthy. For the last ten years, the government's been telling us to eat

:00:59.:01:02.

five pieces of fruit and veg a day, but there is a debate about what

:01:03.:01:05.

should count towards that total. Almost all fruit and veg, like

:01:06.:01:09.

apples and carrots, are included. But now there are big question marks

:01:10.:01:12.

over whether drinking fruit juice should count. Dr Susan Jebb is a

:01:13.:01:16.

health advisor to the government, and she wants drinks like orange and

:01:17.:01:20.

apple juice to be taken out of the five-a-day guidance. That's because

:01:21.:01:24.

she says they contain as much sugar as other sugary drinks like Cola.

:01:25.:01:28.

Juice also contains less fibre than the actual fruit, and fibre is very

:01:29.:01:33.

important to help digestion. So instead of this, Dr Jebb recommends

:01:34.:01:42.

we have a piece of the real thing. Thanks, Leah. Well, I'm joined by

:01:43.:01:44.

Charlotte Evans. You're a nutritionist, so it's your job to

:01:45.:01:48.

know what's good for us and what isn't. Is drinking juice bad for us?

:01:49.:01:54.

Well, it's certainly not as good for us as fruit and vegetables, because

:01:55.:01:58.

then you get all the fibre and all the nutrients. There's just

:01:59.:02:04.

something about sugar in drinks that is bad for us. We can't tell the

:02:05.:02:10.

difference between a soft rink or fruit juice when it comes to the

:02:11.:02:16.

sugar in drinks. It all sounds quite confusing. Do we actually know what

:02:17.:02:22.

is good for us? There's been a lot about sugar recently. Really, the

:02:23.:02:27.

sugar in food isn't as bad. We eat more job because they are flavoured

:02:28.:02:32.

with Serie A -- flavoured with sugar, and breakfast cereals. So if

:02:33.:02:37.

you are only looking at one thing, look at your drinks. And more

:02:38.:02:43.

water? What about labelling. Should it be clearer what is in these

:02:44.:02:48.

juices? Yes, but it takes a lot of time, looking at these labels. I

:02:49.:02:52.

think the food industry should make it easier for us to make the right

:02:53.:02:56.

choice. Thank you for coming in. Some tech news now, and the number

:02:57.:03:00.

of SMS text messages sent in Britain fell for the first time last year.

:03:01.:03:03.

More people are using instant messaging apps like Snapchat.

:03:04.:03:06.

Research carried out by Deloitte - a group that monitors the latest

:03:07.:03:09.

trends - suggests we sent 160 billion instant messages in 2013,

:03:10.:03:12.

compared to 145 billion old-school texts. They reckon messaging apps,

:03:13.:03:16.

which are usually free, will carry more than twice the number of

:03:17.:03:20.

messages sent by text this year. Head to the website to let us know

:03:21.:03:28.

how you message. Let's get some entertainment news.

:03:29.:03:31.

Some of the biggest stars on the planet, including Taylor Swift,

:03:32.:03:35.

flocked to the red carpet in LA last night for the Golden Globes. The

:03:36.:03:38.

ceremony didn't get off to the best of starts, though. Just hours

:03:39.:03:41.

before, a water leak flooded the red carpet, and staff had to mop up the

:03:42.:03:45.

puddle. Once that was sorted, Disney's Frozen won the best

:03:46.:03:48.

animation, beating Despicable Me 2. 3D space thriller Gravity won best

:03:49.:03:52.

director! Next, can you guess which bird is

:03:53.:03:58.

making this sound? BIRD TWEETS.

:03:59.:04:03.

Well, that was the robin. What about this?

:04:04.:04:05.

BIRD TWEETS. That was the blue tit. And this?

:04:06.:04:13.

BIRD COOS. That was the wood pigeon. Don't

:04:14.:04:17.

worry if you didn't guess them - you're not alone. BBC Gardeners

:04:18.:04:20.

World asked 1,649 people to identify five different types of garden birds

:04:21.:04:23.

by their song. Only 11% of them could identify the call of a blue

:04:24.:04:27.

tit, 25% managed to recognise a robin's song, and 30% correctly

:04:28.:04:33.

guessed the song of a house sparrow. Blackbird song was recognised by

:04:34.:04:37.

less than a third. The only bird whose song was identified by more

:04:38.:04:43.

than half was the wood pigeon. And our website is the place to be

:04:44.:04:47.

if you want to find out even more about birdsong. While you're there,

:04:48.:04:54.

take the quiz to see how good you are!

:04:55.:05:00.

That's all from me. Newsround's back right here at 6:50pm.
