Hi, I'm Hayley and

this is Newsround.

0:00:040:00:06

Keep watching for all of this.

0:00:060:00:16

# Stood a lonely cattle shed...#

We catch up with boys

0:00:160:00:19

from the King's College Choir.

0:00:190:00:20

And all the action from

the Last Jedi premiere!

0:00:200:00:30

What will you be doing

on Christmas Eve?

0:00:330:00:36

Watching festive films,

maybe putting out a mince pie

0:00:360:00:38

for Father Christmas?

0:00:380:00:41

Well, these boys have a very

important job to do before they can

0:00:410:00:44

go to bed.

0:00:440:00:46

They are singing for people

all around the world!

0:00:460:00:48

Let's meet them.

0:00:480:00:51

Hi, Newsround.

0:00:510:00:54

We sing in King's College choir

which started over 500

0:00:540:00:57

years ago.

0:00:570:00:58

Christmas is a very special time

for us because we sing

0:00:580:01:04

in a service called

Nine Lessons and Carols.

0:01:040:01:06

And it takes place right here in

King's College Chapel in Cambridge,

0:01:060:01:09

it first took place in 1918.

0:01:090:01:11

This service is broadcast live on

0:01:110:01:13

the radio in Christmas Eve

and millions of people listen to it

0:01:130:01:16

every year.

0:01:160:01:26

The service starts with a boy

singing a solo of Once In

0:01:300:01:36

Royal David's City.

0:01:360:01:37

Nobody knows who's going

to do the solo until

0:01:370:01:39

right before it begins

when the conductor

0:01:390:01:41

at somebody to do it.

0:01:410:01:42

Before the service I feel

excited and nervous.

0:01:420:01:44

Yeah, it's all mixed

emotions, really.

0:01:440:01:49

There is always something

to help you with

0:01:490:01:51

your nerves.

0:01:510:01:52

I usually take really deep

breath and think about how

0:01:520:01:54

amazing the service

is going to sound.

0:01:540:01:56

I used to love how I can just

imagine when we are singing people

0:01:560:01:59

just smiling on the other

side of the radio.

0:01:590:02:02

Before the service I feel proud

to sing with this choir

0:02:020:02:04

because it's really, really famous.

0:02:040:02:05

I feel really Christmassy because

it's just really building up to

0:02:050:02:08

Christmas.

0:02:080:02:10

We can't wait for Christmas Eve.

0:02:100:02:12

Merry Christmas Newsround.

0:02:120:02:18

Thanks, boys.

0:02:180:02:22

Next up, mobile phones in school -

should they be allowed?

0:02:220:02:25

In France a new law is aiming

to ban phones in primary

0:02:250:02:28

and secondary schools.

0:02:280:02:29

Kids wouldn't be able

to look at or touch them

0:02:290:02:31

until after school has finished.

0:02:310:02:32

Should that be the law here?

0:02:320:02:35

We'll want to know what you think.

0:02:350:02:37

Head to our vote at Newsround

online to have your say.

0:02:370:02:44

And now we're heading

to a galaxy far, far away.

0:02:440:02:46

Get your light sabers ready,

because Star Wars is back!

0:02:460:02:48

Ayshah's got more.

0:02:480:02:49

Watch out for the flashes.

0:02:490:02:52

Newsround.

0:02:520:02:53

May the Force be with you.

0:02:530:02:54

I only know one truth.

0:02:540:03:04

It's time for the Jedi to end.

0:03:050:03:10

Guess where we are,

we are at the Star Wars

0:03:100:03:12

European premiere!

0:03:120:03:14

CHEERING

0:03:140:03:22

I used to watch

Newsround all the time.

0:03:220:03:27

What do they have to look forward

to in this movie from you?

0:03:270:03:30

Some fun fights.

0:03:300:03:36

Some fun creatures I get

to work with, and, some

0:03:360:03:42

fun new spaceships.

0:03:420:03:43

They are the real fun stuff.

0:03:430:03:45

What does this film mean

for the new generation of fans?

0:03:450:03:47

These films from the beginning

were meant for children.

0:03:470:03:49

People forget that.

0:03:490:03:51

They say No, it is for

48-year-old nerds.

0:03:510:03:54

No, it's for children.

0:03:540:03:58

It just so happens that it appeals

to the child in all of us I

0:03:580:04:02

guess.

0:04:020:04:04

I was seven when I first saw

Star Wars and Princess

0:04:040:04:07

Leia meant the world to me,

because I hadn't seen many

0:04:070:04:11

iconic female superheroes.

0:04:110:04:16

And now I get to be part of a group,

a tribe of very powerful

0:04:160:04:19

female characters.

0:04:190:04:26

I've got my nephews here

who are young and they

0:04:260:04:30

are passionate Star Wars fans,

and they are the children

0:04:300:04:33

of my brother who's nearly 50

and he is the world's

0:04:330:04:36

greatest Star Wars fan.

0:04:360:04:37

So it is for such a wide audience.

0:04:370:04:39

Despite the

fact that I am in it I think

0:04:390:04:41

it is one of the best

Star Wars films ever made.

0:04:410:04:51

I can't wait for that!

0:04:510:04:53

That's all from me for now,

but I'm back with more top stories

0:04:530:04:57

in just over half an hour.

0:04:570:04:58

Bye bye.
