Good morning, I'm Hayley and I've got your morning Newsround.

0:00:030:00:06

Coming up:

0:00:060:00:08

The real life tiny dragons.

0:00:080:00:11

The helpers on hand at London's fire.

0:00:110:00:15

First, the fire brigade are still working to make

0:00:230:00:25

a tower block that caught fire yesterday safe.

0:00:250:00:29

The Grenfell Tower in North Kensington in west London

0:00:290:00:31

caught fire early on Wednesday morning and experts are still trying

0:00:310:00:36

to find out what happened.

0:00:360:00:39

The fire started just before one o'clock in the morning.

0:00:430:00:46

Emergency services arrived at the scene within six minutes,

0:00:460:00:51

with 40 fire engines and 200 firefighters coming to help get

0:00:510:00:54

people out safely and get the fire under control.

0:00:540:00:59

The London Fire Brigade said they were able to rescue

0:00:590:01:02

lots of people but, sadly, some have died and more than 70

0:01:020:01:05

people have been taken to hospital.

0:01:050:01:13

When fires start in flats like these, they don't usually

0:01:130:01:15

spread between the floors of a block.

0:01:150:01:17

Police are now investigating how the fire happened to make sure it

0:01:170:01:20

doesn't happen again.

0:01:200:01:21

People who live near the flats have been doing what they can to help.

0:01:210:01:24

Emergency centres have opened for those who can't go home,

0:01:240:01:26

with people bringing food, drink, clothes and toiletries

0:01:260:01:29

and donating money for those who have lost everything.

0:01:290:01:33

Supplies have also been donated to police and fire crews who have

0:01:330:01:36

worked through the night.

0:01:360:01:38

The Member of Parliament for Kensington said every

0:01:380:01:40

single person affected will be looked after.

0:01:400:01:46

People from all over London have been bringing water,

0:01:460:01:48

blankets and even toys for those people who've lost

0:01:480:01:50

everything in the fire.

0:01:500:01:54

Newsround's been speaking to some kids who've been helping out.

0:01:540:01:56

I came here with some food for them and some old toys

0:01:560:02:00

I don't play with any more.

0:02:000:02:02

I feel bad for them because there they are going to be homeless

0:02:020:02:06

but I'm actually kind of happy that people have been bringing

0:02:060:02:09

lots of food and toys and stuff for the babies

0:02:090:02:13

and, like, the kids.

0:02:130:02:15

So I'm proud of that.

0:02:150:02:18

I've got some fruit, I've got some food, I went

0:02:180:02:22

to the church and I started giving out some free food, like,

0:02:220:02:27

for the homeless people.

0:02:270:02:31

I came down here because I felt sorry for the people

0:02:310:02:33

who died or got injured.

0:02:330:02:35

I have clothes in the car that I was going to give to the people

0:02:350:02:39

who have lost theirs.

0:02:390:02:41

Later on, I'm going to get some of my things from home,

0:02:410:02:43

and I'm going to donate...

0:02:430:02:46

There are people that don't have anything anymore.

0:02:460:02:48

It is good that people are coming together to help the people in need.

0:02:480:02:52

And for more on this story, or for advice if you are upset

0:02:520:02:56

by the news, go online now.

0:02:560:02:59

Next to Australia, where scientists are trying to save a unique animal

0:02:590:03:02

called the Weedy Sea Dragon.

0:03:020:03:05

There are worries the creatures are now endangered.

0:03:050:03:11

Whitney's been finding out more.

0:03:110:03:13

Not far off the coast of Sydney in Australia is what's known

0:03:130:03:16

as dragon territory.

0:03:160:03:19

People diving here will find strange and beautiful creatures living

0:03:190:03:23

amongst the seaweed.

0:03:230:03:25

The locals call these guys weedies, otherwise known

0:03:250:03:29

as Weedy Sea Dragons.

0:03:290:03:31

Native to the coast around Australia, they are related to sea

0:03:310:03:34

horses and spend their time drifting in the water, blending

0:03:340:03:38

in with the seaweed around them.

0:03:380:03:42

The problem is, these colourful creatures are becoming harder

0:03:420:03:45

and harder to spot and not just because of their clever camouflage.

0:03:450:03:50

This is the best side in Sydney, you can still see them alive.

0:03:500:03:54

Other sides, particularly on the north side of Sydney,

0:03:540:03:57

where they used to be a common occurrence,

0:03:570:03:58

you're lucky to find one and sometimes you find none.

0:03:580:04:08

Marine biologists have come up with a clever plan to work out how

0:04:080:04:11

many weedies are left.

0:04:110:04:12

They are asking divers to snap a picture of

0:04:120:04:14

the creatures and send them in.

0:04:140:04:15

The researchers are then using a kind of facial recognition

0:04:150:04:18

software to identify each fish's unique patterns.

0:04:180:04:22

Every time they identify a new weedy, they give it a name

0:04:220:04:25

to help keep track of it, kind of like a Facebook for weedies.

0:04:250:04:28

And it will tell us if it is David or Greg or Alicia, because every

0:04:280:04:32

single new sea dragon that we have gets a name so we can follow

0:04:320:04:35

it over the years.

0:04:350:04:40

Weedy Sea Dragons are classified as near-threatened

0:04:400:04:43

but the scientists reckon this research could provide enough info

0:04:430:04:47

to have them relisted as endangered, which is more serious.

0:04:470:04:51

Scientists believe climate change could be a big part

0:04:510:04:56

of the problem for weedies.

0:04:560:04:58

They say rising sea temperatures are killing the seaweed,

0:04:580:05:00

which leaves them homeless.

0:05:000:05:03

Once we lose them, we will never get them back.

0:05:030:05:06

They were here hundreds of thousands of years ago.

0:05:060:05:08

With our impact, losing them would be really sad.

0:05:080:05:13

So if you find yourself diving in Australia,

0:05:130:05:17

snap a picture to make sure there are plenty of little weedies

0:05:170:05:20

swimming around in the future.

0:05:200:05:27

Two British Champions met on the court yesterday

0:05:270:05:29

in the run up to Wimbledon.

0:05:290:05:31

It was just for fun but world tennis number one Andy Murray and world

0:05:310:05:34

heavyweight boxing champ Antony Joshua met up

0:05:340:05:38

for a game of doubles.

0:05:380:05:40

Andy will start defending his Wimbledon title

0:05:400:05:43

in just over two weeks.

0:05:430:05:45

I think it'll be a bit tougher than that, Andy.

0:05:450:05:51

That's all from me,

0:05:510:05:58

Newsround's back at 4:20.

0:05:580:06:00
