Hello, I'm Hayley with your Newsround update this Friday.

0:00:040:00:07

Coming up:

0:00:070:00:10

What you think about the golf club that won't allow women to join.

0:00:100:00:13

Plus:

0:00:130:00:15

The dog making mayhem in our studio.

0:00:150:00:18

First, the search is continuing to find out what happened

0:00:280:00:31

to a plane that went missing early yesterday morning.

0:00:310:00:34

Earlier, search teams found debris floating in the Mediterranean sea.

0:00:340:00:39

Here's the full story.

0:00:390:00:41

The EgyptAir flight was carrying 66 people

0:00:410:00:44

on a journey from Paris in France to Cairo in Egypt

0:00:440:00:47

when the radars that keep track of aircrafts

0:00:470:00:51

as they travel lost touch with it.

0:00:510:00:54

Boats, including a team from the Royal Navy,

0:00:540:00:56

have been looking for any signs of a wreckage

0:00:560:00:59

in the Mediterranean Sea, where the plane went missing.

0:00:590:01:01

Earlier today, debris from the plane was found floating in the sea.

0:01:010:01:05

No-one yet knows exactly what caused the plane to crash

0:01:050:01:08

and security experts say nothing has been ruled out.

0:01:080:01:13

Now it's not impossible that this plane could have been brought down

0:01:130:01:16

by a terrorist putting a bomb on it or having a fight on board,

0:01:160:01:21

but we don't know yet.

0:01:210:01:23

What I would say is that the screening, the checks,

0:01:230:01:28

the safety measures that are put in place in most airports

0:01:280:01:32

around the world are tighter now than they've ever been.

0:01:320:01:36

It's very, very difficult for a bad person to get a bomb

0:01:360:01:40

or a weapon on board a plane.

0:01:400:01:42

And it's been that way now since 2001.

0:01:420:01:44

Millions of flights take place every year and events

0:01:440:01:47

like this are extremely rare.

0:01:470:01:49

The answer to what happened could be found in the black box -

0:01:490:01:52

a special device that records what happens inside a plane.

0:01:520:01:56

Investigations can be very complicated but more information

0:01:560:01:59

is expected to be announced over the next few days.

0:01:590:02:03

Remember, if there's anything in the news that upsets you,

0:02:030:02:06

you can head online and take a look at our special guide

0:02:060:02:09

for advice on what to do.

0:02:090:02:10

And, of course, we'll keep you updated on this story.

0:02:100:02:14

Next, an historic golf club in Scotland has voted

0:02:140:02:16

to keep its rule that women can't become members.

0:02:160:02:20

Female golfers can go to the course at Muirfield but only as visitors,

0:02:200:02:24

but some people think that's unfair and old-fashioned.

0:02:240:02:28

Here's what you guys think.

0:02:280:02:31

I think it is quite rude for girls, and it is like bringing them

0:02:310:02:35

back to Victorian times, where girls had to do all of the tidying,

0:02:350:02:38

they were not allowed to play any games.

0:02:380:02:40

I think it is sexist and disgraceful,

0:02:400:02:41

because women are already overlooked

0:02:410:02:44

and if you tell women they can't play golf -

0:02:440:02:47

or a different sport, for that matter -

0:02:470:02:49

then it could just knock their confidence.

0:02:490:02:51

I think it is good if some clubs are separate, some for boys

0:02:510:02:55

and some for girls, because girls like to talk with each other,

0:02:550:03:01

girls amongst girls, boys amongst boys.

0:03:010:03:04

If the girl wants to be maybe a world-class golf player,

0:03:040:03:09

that would be one of the places where they would go to play golf

0:03:090:03:15

and that means, if they can't do that,

0:03:150:03:18

it is just putting them down.

0:03:180:03:20

It is just...

0:03:200:03:21

It is a passion, really.

0:03:210:03:22

Somebody who can't do that,

0:03:220:03:24

it is just stopping them from their abilities,

0:03:240:03:26

and that might be something they really enjoy,

0:03:260:03:27

so it's just not nice.

0:03:270:03:33

You've been heading online to have your say.

0:03:330:03:38

Hope in Aberfeldy says thinks clubs should let anyone join,

0:03:380:03:41

whatever their gender.

0:03:410:03:43

But Cody in Tamworth disagrees.

0:03:430:03:45

He thinks it's nice to have some places just for men

0:03:450:03:47

and some for women.

0:03:470:03:49

And one member of the year five class at Kingfisher Primary

0:03:490:03:52

thinks it is OK, because some sports suit men and some suit women.

0:03:520:03:57

Thanks to everyone who joined in with the debate.

0:03:570:04:01

Finally, in case you missed it,

0:04:010:04:03

Ricky was joined by a special guest

0:04:030:04:04

in the Newsround studio this morning.

0:04:040:04:06

Arthur, the dog who crossed the Amazon rainforest

0:04:060:04:09

to find himself a new home.

0:04:090:04:11

I think he was quite excited about his appearance on TV.

0:04:110:04:14

Take a look at this.

0:04:140:04:17

See, he's getting a bit cheeky now.

0:04:170:04:19

He's off, he's been having a look around the studio today,

0:04:190:04:22

and he's really interested in the Newsround studio.

0:04:220:04:24

Join us.

0:04:240:04:25

This is your show, this is your moment.

0:04:250:04:29

He's got to behave.

0:04:290:04:30

He's trying to play with the camera.

0:04:300:04:37

He's too cute, he's too cute!

0:04:370:04:39

And now you've got this book, haven't you?

0:04:390:04:43

Oh!

0:04:430:04:45

You can see the full story of Arthur the dog over on our website,

0:04:450:04:50

as well as the rest of today's news.

0:04:500:04:53

That's all from the Newsround team for today.

0:04:530:04:55

We'll be back tomorrow.

0:04:550:04:56

Have a great evening.
