Hi, I'm Martin and this is Newsround.
First, America is waking up today to a new president, Donald Trump.
The billionaire businessman and former reality TV star has taken
charge of the US after a huge inauguration ceremony yesterday.
Leah was there in the capitol Washington.
This is the moment Donald Trump officially became the 45th president
of the United States.
I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that
I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States.
In his speech afterwards he told the crowds that he
would put America first.
I will fight for you with every breath in my body and I will never,
ever let you down.
The ceremony was also timed to say goodbye to outgoing
President Barack Obama who flew out in a helicopter.
Thousands of people came to watch Trump's inauguration.
Since he's going to be running our country, I want to help
support him and just come see him.
It was pretty exciting because this is the moment
only certain people see.
He can't really do anything too terrible so I'm interested
to see what he does.
It's an historical moment so I'm happy to be here.
We have a new president now.
Not everyone here is celebrating.
These people are protesting outside his new hotel in Washington, DC.
They are unhappy and they don't think he's the right
man to run the country.
There are more protests expected here, too.
I really have no idea how he will run this country.
So far it doesn't seem like he's been doing the best kind of job.
I hope that he doesn't, like, pick fights with other
countries and start a war.
Try not to mess America up that much in four years.
Then it was time for the big parade.
And now, for the first time, the new president of America,
Mr Donald Trump, is here along the parade route greeting people
for the very first time.
He's our new President, I can't do anything about it so...
I feel like he's a great businessman and will do a great
job as our president.
I feel the same way.
I think he's going to do a lot of things great.
So, as Donald Trump wakes up to his first morning in the White House,
the country is waiting to see if he can live up to his promises.
That's all from me.
Newsround's back just before 12.
