Loads coming up today.

We catch up with two of Team GB'S

Winter Olympics hopefuls.

And...

We all love taking them, but who

actually invented the selfie?

We'll be finding out.

First up, if you're a big fan

of sports like skiing,

snowboarding, and ice skating,

then you'll probably be very excited

that there's now just 17 days

until the Winter Olympics begins

in South Korea.

Team GB has been announced this

morning, and we caught up with two

of our skeleton racers -

Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold

and first-timer Laura Deas.

They told us how much they're

looking forward to the Games.

I've been doing this sport

for nine years now and this has

always been my goal,

so to finally be on the plane

to Pyeongchang next week

is really exciting.

It's crazy, because if you told

ten-year-old me that I would be

selected for my second

Winter Olympic Games,

I would not have believed you!

So, I can't wait to go out there,

defend my title and do my absolute

best, and enjoy the Winter Olympics.

Good luck to them. Next, we have a

big question for you. Who invented

the selfie?

The selfie.

We all take them, some

of us more than others,

but the big question is,

who invented the selfie and why?

Now, that's a really

good question, John.

A really good big question,

so I've done some research and come

up with a few answers.

Lots of people claim to have

invented the first selfie.

Last year, celebrity Paris Hilton

claimed that this picture

was the first selfie ever taken.

Social media were not

happy about this -

they concluded that maybe

that was a bit crazy,

and of course, that she didn't.

I can now reveal the first selfie

was taken by a man named...

Robert Cornelius.

The 30 year old took it outside his

lamp shop in America in 1839,

so that is who invented the selfie.

But the word 'selfie' has

a different history.

So let's fast-forward to 2002,

when the word 'selfie' was born.

A guy in Australia took a photo

of his lip that he had cut

and wrote, "Sorry about the focus,

it was a selfie."

In Australia, I'm not sure

if you know, but they tend to add

'ies' at the end of their sentences,

ie barbies, sunnies,

so it's not that surprising, is it?

By 2012, the word 'selfie' became

widespread, and by 2013, it entered

the dictionary and became

the Word of the Year.

It even has its own day in June,

National Selfie Day.

So remember that the next time

you're taking a selfie.

Netball now, and England

face Australia tonight

in the Quad Series.

It's after a busy weekend

for the teams from all

of the UK's home nations.

Hayley's been taking a look.

On the weekend, Northern Ireland,

Wales and Scotland played

their qualifying matches for next

year's Netball World Cup,

that will take place in Liverpool.

After some gruelling

matches, Northern Ireland

secured their place,

as well as Scotland.

But unfortunately, Wales

didn't manage to qualify.

England didn't have to worry,

as they automatically have a place,

as the host nation.

But they still had a busy weekend

playing in the Quad Series,

a tournament with four of the best

teams in the world -

England, Australia,

New Zealand and South Africa.

And they started with a win.

It was a nail-biting

finish to this game,

where England beat New Zealand

in extra time 64-57.

The crowd's been really noisy,

getting behind their national team.

I can't really believe what's

just happened, in a way,

because of the extra time.

It's a small snippet

into what 2019's going to be like.

Obviously, the World Cup

launched this week for us,

and that build-up into Liverpool.

I think...

I just can't wait for

that moment, you know.

Coming and playing

in a home Test Series,

with the crowd behind you,

makes such a difference.

England take on Australia here next,

who are world number ones,

but a win here now tonight has given

a real boost to the national team.

It is loud there!
