Hi, I'm Leah, and this is Newsround.

0:00:110:00:13

On the way...

0:00:130:00:14

With summer holidays on the horizon, we ask where you guys like to go.

0:00:140:00:17

Why these boys are wearing skirts to school.

0:00:170:00:19

And way to glow, find out what causes this amazing sight.

0:00:190:00:29

First this afternoon, Liam Payne, Rita Ora,

0:00:310:00:33

Stormzy and Leona Lewis.

0:00:330:00:43

Just a few of the names who are helping to raise

0:00:480:00:51

money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower block fire

0:00:510:00:53

which happened last week.

0:00:530:00:54

The singers recorded Bridge Over Troubled Water

0:00:540:00:56

to support victims' families.

0:00:560:00:58

The song hit the number one spot on iTunes just two hours

0:00:580:01:01

after it was released.

0:01:010:01:02

X Factor judge Simon Cowell organised the track.

0:01:020:01:07

I was thinking at the time, raise some money, I also

0:01:070:01:10

thought raise awareness, and I also thought

0:01:100:01:12

raise some support.

0:01:120:01:12

I wanted it to be something that, you know, weeks, months later,

0:01:120:01:15

when you hear the record, you still remember what happened.

0:01:150:01:23

To the boys at a school in Exeter now who've decided to protest

0:01:230:01:26

about their strict uniform policy in skirts!

0:01:260:01:27

Confused?

0:01:270:01:29

Here's Ayshah...

0:01:290:01:32

Just another normal day walking into school, but wait,

0:01:320:01:34

are the boys wearing...

0:01:340:01:36

Skirts?

0:01:360:01:39

Yep, they certainly are.

0:01:390:01:41

But why?

0:01:410:01:42

Well, the during the recent heatwave, the boys complained

0:01:420:01:44

that they weren't allowed to wear shorts.

0:01:440:01:46

Then a teacher jokingly said, "Well, you could wear skirts."

0:01:460:01:50

Well, because five people did it yesterday, so then everyone was,

0:01:500:01:53

like, if everyone else does it, then they can't stop

0:01:530:01:55

anyone else doing it, so then they might bring shorts back

0:01:550:01:58

for the summer.

0:01:580:02:00

Girls are allowed to wear skirts all year round,

0:02:000:02:02

they get cold legs and we have to sit there sweating.

0:02:020:02:04

I think it's good.

0:02:040:02:05

If they can't wear shorts, then they have to wear skirts.

0:02:050:02:10

The school said, with hot weather becoming more normal,

0:02:100:02:12

they might consider a change in the future, but the protesters

0:02:120:02:15

didn't count on one thing - the heatwave is over.

0:02:150:02:23

And what could be the biggest ship in the world has docked

0:02:230:02:25

in the UK for the first time.

0:02:250:02:27

Dozens of people headed out to Felixstowe, Suffolk,

0:02:270:02:29

to watch it arrive all the way from Shanghai, China.

0:02:290:02:32

She stands at 194 foot tall, about four times the size

0:02:320:02:34

of Big Ben in London.

0:02:340:02:40

Next - to something that looks like it's from out of this world.

0:02:400:02:43

Algae, that glows in the dark.

0:02:430:02:45

Here's Ricky to explain why.

0:02:450:02:50

It's a rare sight, the ocean glowing in the dark.

0:02:500:02:53

Yeah, a couple of salmon at the back jumping out.

0:02:530:02:55

It was like fireworks sort of thing, the water.

0:02:550:02:57

It was pretty cool.

0:02:570:03:00

What you're looking at is Noctiluca scintillansmore, also

0:03:000:03:02

known as sea sparkler.

0:03:020:03:05

When you pick it up, it dribbles through your fingers.

0:03:050:03:07

Whenever it lands on something, it glows.

0:03:070:03:09

Just little splatters of bright blue, I suppose.

0:03:090:03:13

The glow is caused by a natural chemical reaction with algae.

0:03:130:03:17

When a boat drives through it or you put your hand through it,

0:03:170:03:20

the chemical reaction is initiated, as a result of which,

0:03:200:03:23

you get this emission of light.

0:03:230:03:26

Algae are tiny living things that are found in water all the world.

0:03:260:03:29

When the algae is touched, it changes colour from a dull pink

0:03:290:03:32

to a bright electric blue.

0:03:320:03:38

They are not observed as often in the colder waters off Australia

0:03:380:03:41

but more in the sub tropical and warm temperate waters.

0:03:410:03:45

This display was caught on camera at a beach in South Australia.

0:03:450:03:48

The glow is completely harmless, but what a sight!

0:03:480:03:58

It's getting closer to your summer holidays.

0:03:580:04:00

But when it comes to the destination, do you prefer

0:04:000:04:03

to visit the same place each year or go somewhere new?

0:04:030:04:05

Well, psychologist Oliver James says it's better for children

0:04:050:04:07

to go to the same place, because it's nice to know

0:04:070:04:10

you are going to a familiar place.

0:04:100:04:12

We asked what you think.

0:04:120:04:14

It's best if you travel when you're younger and when you're older.

0:04:140:04:17

I like going to the same place every year.

0:04:170:04:20

I think it is nice to go somewhere new after a bit,

0:04:200:04:22

but it's just relaxing to go to the same place and do

0:04:220:04:25

the same things often.

0:04:250:04:26

I personally like going different places, because it's good

0:04:260:04:28

to get new experiences.

0:04:280:04:36

Online, you've also been having your say about this.

0:04:360:04:42

That's all from me, Newsround's back from 07.40 tomorrow morning.

0:04:520:05:01

Yo, whassup? Do you watch CBBC shows on your phone or tablet?

0:05:040:05:07

Oh, wait.
