And the Games begin with a bang with this spectacular opening ceremony.

From Usain Bolt to Mo Farah, there's no shortage

of big sporting names that are going to be competing here in Glasgow.

But how would you react if you came face to face with your idol?

Half an hour ago, we showed you the moment wheelchair racer

David Weir surprised 15-year-old Kieran, who idolises him.

Not only that but he even agreed to let Kieran interview him.

What was like when you are my age growing up in a wheelchair? It was

OK. Obviously I had my dog days like every disabled person does but I had

a strong family around me and good brothers that were strong and I

didn't dwell on it too much. Tell me how you came to realise about

wheelchair racing. Through the London Marathon, really. I was a fan

early on. I would go and watch it, even from the age of four upwards, I

always wanted to watch the marathon because it was the only race you saw

wheelchairs in and saw wheelchairs on TV. The dream was to win the

marathon and I have done that now. You have definitely done that! Do

you have any advice for not just me but anyone in a chair wanting to

become an athlete? Just really enjoy it. There are so many Paralympic

sports that you can do. Pick one that you really love doing. There

are so many. Try them all. I tried everything and found the one that I

absolutely loved. What are you expecting from the Commonwealth

Games? I will just do my best on the day. I don't want to put too much

pressure on myself. Obviously I train to win and I would love to win

a gold medal. That is the aim. Any medal will do. Thank you very much

for letting me interview you. You are very welcome. I can't believe

you kept this from me all day. This is... Thank you, so, so, so, so

much! Last night, Celtic Park hosted a

spectacular opening ceremony for the Thousands of volunteers practised

for ages ahead of the event and last night, they got

their time in the spotlight. It was a night of singing,

dancing and a little humour - a display of traditional costumes,

and even an appearance And this was the centrepiece

of the night - the arrival It's travelled 120,000 miles,

to the Cook Islands, Australia and Botswana, inviting

athletes from around the world to The athletes entered the stadium,

each team led by a Scottish Terrier and there were big cheers

for England and Scotland. There was a slightly sticky moment

when the Queen's message got stuck in the baton but it was eventually

released for the Queen to read. To finish off, some fireworks -

pleasure to declare the 20th Commonwealth Games open.
