Hi, Whitney here,

with your Friday Newsround.

First up, the new Zimbabwean

president Emmerson Mnangagwa has

been sworn in today,

in a packled stadium which had

the atmosphere of a pop cconcert.

He replaces Robert Mugabe,

who had been president for 37 years

until the army took control

of the country earlier this month.

Mugabe did not attend the ceremony.

Next, if you've seen

lots of queues around shops today,

it's because it's Black Friday!

What is that?

Well, It's when adults spends loads

of money on big sales.

It's something that started

in America and then came here.

People in the UK are expected

to spend over £1 billion

on online shopping today.

Next, meet the world's best teacher!

Maggie from Canada won this year's

famous Global Teacher prize.

She teaches at a school

in the Arctic Circle

where the children walk for miles

through snow just to get to class.

Every day when my students come to

is school, and they come in my

classroom, I I thank them for

getting there that day, I know they

have run a marathon, they have gone

through all sorts of obstacles to

get to the classroom door. My name

is Maggie and I teach in the Arctic.

As a teacher in the Arctic, the

definition of a teacher is very very

broad, you are not only instruct

lessons in the lass room, but you

really have to engage with your

student outside of the classroom,

you have to make the class and

school welcoming to them, they have

to see you in the community, often

you take on roles such as social

worker, or a councillor or maybe a

family friend.

I think that in a student from the

UK or India were to drop into my

classroom, one think they might be

surprised about is that not every

classroom has four walls. As much as

possible, I try to take my students

outside of the traditional school,

and into the community, where we can

do project based learning, authentic

learning and I think that is what

the powerful about the style of

teaching I have been working on. As

much as possible I love integrating

students into the community,

creating opportunities for them to

offer community service, and

basicically create opportunities for

them to see themselves not as

problems, but as agents of change in

their community.

Time for some sport now,

and down in Australia,

the Aussies are fighting back

against England in

the Ashes test series.

The Australian captain

is doing well on 64 runs.

The score is now 165-4.

But the Aussies still have a target

of 137 runs to catch up.

And in Rugby League news,

England will be up against Tonga

this weekend in Saturday's World Cup

semi final.

It's a big match for England,

because if they manage

to beat Tonga this weekend,

it will be the first time in 25

years they have made it

to the World Cup final.
