Good morning.

0:00:040:00:04

I'm Hayley with all the latest stories.

0:00:040:00:06

Here's what's coming up.

0:00:060:00:09

How virtual reality is bringing a disaster zone to life.

0:00:090:00:14

And what the Tottenham result means for Leicester's

0:00:140:00:16

Premier League dream.

0:00:160:00:18

First this morning, junior doctors across England aren't turning up

0:00:270:00:30

to work today and tomorrow.

0:00:300:00:33

They are protesting or striking because of a row

0:00:330:00:35

with the government.

0:00:350:00:37

I've been looking into what's going on.

0:00:370:00:40

Junior doctors in England are striking because they are unhappy

0:00:400:00:43

with government plans to change their pay

0:00:430:00:44

and working hours.

0:00:440:00:51

The government says it wants to improve hospital services

0:00:510:00:54

at weekends, but many doctors believe the changes are unfair

0:00:540:00:56

and will affect patient safety.

0:00:560:01:01

The row has been going on for years and neither side can agree

0:01:010:01:04

on a deal.

0:01:040:01:07

This is the fifth strike this year but the first one to affect accident

0:01:070:01:10

and emergency departments.

0:01:100:01:13

Thousands of appointments and operations have been cancelled.

0:01:130:01:17

But more senior doctors are stepping in to make sure those

0:01:170:01:20

who need care can get it.

0:01:200:01:25

Leicester are now just one win away from the Premier League title

0:01:250:01:29

after Tottenham could only manage a draw against West Brom last night.

0:01:290:01:33

Craig Dawson equalised for West Brom in the second-half after netting

0:01:330:01:37

an own goal in the first.

0:01:370:01:39

It means Spurs are now seven points behind the Foxes

0:01:390:01:43

with three games left to play.

0:01:430:01:46

Mathematically it is possible and we need to believe.

0:01:460:01:50

Nothing to say, nothing to complain.

0:01:500:01:52

Only that we need to be strong in our mind and try now

0:01:520:01:56

to prepare the next game.

0:01:560:01:59

Imagine a city left deserted for 30 years.

0:01:590:02:02

Well that's what happened after a nuclear disaster

0:02:020:02:04

in Ukraine in Eastern Europe.

0:02:040:02:07

Scientists have spent a week inside the exclusion zone,

0:02:070:02:11

where nobody lives, taking pictures.

0:02:110:02:13

So now everyone can experience a virtual look around the Chernobyl

0:02:130:02:16

nuclear power plant.

0:02:160:02:18

Leah's been to check it out.

0:02:180:02:22

The Six O'Clock News from the BBC.

0:02:220:02:24

The cloud of radiation from Chernobyl power station.

0:02:240:02:28

It was the world's worst ever nuclear accident.

0:02:280:02:33

30 years ago, part of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded.

0:02:330:02:37

It released harmful radiation into the air

0:02:370:02:40

in Ukraine in Eastern Europe.

0:02:400:02:43

People can't touch, smell or even taste radiation but if there's

0:02:430:02:47

lots of it around someone, it can be dangerous.

0:02:470:02:52

This material was spread for miles and nearly 100,000 people had

0:02:520:02:57

to leave their homes because of the danger

0:02:570:02:59

to their health.

0:02:590:03:00

A large no-go zone was set up in the area to stop people

0:03:000:03:03

from staying there and Chernobyl became a ghost town.

0:03:030:03:08

Even now people aren't allowed to live there.

0:03:080:03:12

And now kids from across the UK are getting the chance to see

0:03:120:03:15

what life is like inside the disaster zone now using one

0:03:150:03:19

of those, a virtual reality headset and it's not what you think.

0:03:190:03:25

I also saw a few animals that walked around.

0:03:250:03:27

The buildings.

0:03:270:03:29

Different animals, different trees, they changed all the time.

0:03:290:03:31

What did you make of it?

0:03:310:03:33

I thought it was very interesting and very fun.

0:03:330:03:35

It's very realistic and it's quite interesting to see

0:03:350:03:37

all the different sites.

0:03:370:03:41

As I was looking around, I turned around and I saw a bear

0:03:410:03:44

and that really shocked me.

0:03:440:03:45

It's really interesting and everyone should know about it because it's

0:03:450:03:48

a disaster as well.

0:03:480:03:50

It's really good.

0:03:500:03:51

It's an amazing experience.

0:03:510:03:55

It actually felt like I was there.

0:03:550:03:59

Although people were forced to leave because of the radiation,

0:03:590:04:02

the area's wild animal population is booming.

0:04:020:04:03

It's now home to wolves, wild horses and wild boar.

0:04:030:04:07

It was just remarkable to see how much is there.

0:04:070:04:09

The wildlife is thriving, and we thought that after this

0:04:090:04:12

fallout that it would be to the complete

0:04:120:04:14

detriment of animals.

0:04:140:04:16

Virtual reality is a game changer for scientists because it just

0:04:160:04:18

allows people to come into the places where

0:04:180:04:20

they were which otherwise wouldn't be possible.

0:04:200:04:24

Chernobyl will be too dangerous to live in for hundreds of years

0:04:240:04:28

but, with virtual reality, people can catch a glimpse

0:04:280:04:31

of the life returning in the area.

0:04:310:04:37

And finally a story that is truly quackers!

0:04:370:04:39

These tiny ducklings have been rescued from a drain by firefighters

0:04:390:04:43

in the American state of Oklahoma.

0:04:430:04:45

The team had to climb into the small roadside drain,

0:04:450:04:48

but after some good teamwork, the little cuties were

0:04:480:04:51

reunited with their mum and waddled off to safety.

0:04:510:04:54

Well done, guys.

0:04:540:04:55

That's all from me.

0:04:550:04:57

Newsround's back right here in half an hour.

0:04:570:04:58
