Good morning.

It's Thursday, I'm Ayshah, and here's what's

coming up on Newsround.

The bats taking over an Australian town.

And.

Winnie The Pooh turns 90, with a new book.

First, this morning.

Prime Minister David Cameron wants people to decide

whether the UK should stay in, or leave an important club

of countries in Europe called the European Union.

Let's take a really quick look at what it's all about.

The European Union in 60 seconds.

In 1973, people dressed like this.

Slade ruled the charts.

And Newsround was only one-year-old.

That is when the UK joined what is now known

as the European Union, or EU.

It's a club of 28 countries from around Europe who work together.

This is its symbol.

It has its own Parliament, its own anthem, and its own money,

the euro, used by most of its numbers, but not the UK.

Countries want to join the EU because they think it will help

bring Europe closer together.

Now, Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has promised a vote

on whether the UK should stay in, or leave the EU.

Supporters of the EU think the UK is stronger as part of it.

That is because we buy and sell lots of things with

European countries.

People who want to leave the EU say it forces too many rules on Britain.

They say leaving will give British people more control over

issues like immigration.

It will be up to adults around the UK to decide what is best

when they vote this summer.

So, that's what the EU or European Union is.

It wouldn't be Newsround without a quick round-up of some top

animal stories today.

To Dallas Zoo in Texas in America where they're celebrating the birth

of a new African elephant weighing a whopping 79 kilograms.

Keepers say the calf, who's still not been named,

will now spend time bonding with his mother and the rest

of the other elephants, before he goes on show

to the public.

Staying in the US, three one-month-old wolf puppies have

also made their debut at a zoo near Chicago.

The Mexican grey wolf puppies were born last month,

but have just emerged from their den.

Two other pups born in the same litter have been placed with a wild

wolf pack in the state of Arizona, as part of a conservation effort

to save the species in the wild.

And, have a look at these stunning glow fish.

These bio-flourescent fish have been specially bred to glow

different colours.

They were originally created, about ten years ago,

by scientists who wanted to detect pollutants in the water where

the fish's scales would glimmer if the water contained toxins.

Now, having bred and inherited the bright colours, they're proving

hugely popular at pet stores in California in America.

To Australia, and the town plagued with bats!

More than 100,000 of them, known as flying foxes,

have made their home in the coastal town of Bateman Bay,

south of Sydney.

They're a protected species, so, getting them to move isn't easy.

But locals want them gone because they say they're

causing lots of mess.

This is the biggest, this is unprecedented,

it has never been seen in these numbers.

The bats came, and they are just out of control.

We just can't do anything because of them.

We can't open windows, we can't use the clothes line.

It is just...

You can't study because the noise goes constantly,

you can't concentrate.

It's not fun.

Tennis now.

And Andy Murray survived a huge scare in the second

round of the French Open, losing eight games in row.

The match went to five sets, with Britain's number one finally

defeating Mathias Bourgue, ranked 164th in the world,

and book his place in the third round in Paris.

I started the match pretty good.

And then, yes, just lost my way.

Hopefully, that doesn't happen again throughout the tournament.

I am hitting the ball well in practice.

Obviously, had perfect preparation, really.

Yes, the matches aren't going to get any easier.

So, if you have those drop-offs against higher ranked or more

experienced opponents, they will make you pay for it.

Finally, it's a big year for the Queen and Winnie

The Pooh this year.

They both celebrate their 90th birthdays this summer.

And, now, a new Winnie The Pooh adventure is being released,

with a starring role for the Queen.

Winnie travels to the Palace with his friends, and meets a certain

young prince in the gardens.
