In Liverpool, hundreds of people have come here to remember the

Hillsborough tragedy. And the kit for Team GB

athletes heading to Rio, First, people have been

gathering in the city They're there to remember the 96

football fans who died in a disaster that happened in 1989,

High. Yes, all day, hundreds and hundreds of people have been coming

outside St George 's Hall here in the heart of Liverpool to remember

the 96 football fans who lost their lives 27 years ago. Lots of children

have been coming down here as well today looking at the candles, and

also wrapping their football scarves around the lamp posts. This comes

after a big investigation which ended yesterday into how and why

these football fans died 27 years ago. But before we find out about

that, let's take a look at what happened on that tragic day back in

1989. On Saturday the 15th of April, 1989,

Liverpool fans arrived at Sheffield Wednesday's Stadium to watch the FA

Cup semifinal. Too many fans were let into the stadium, and many of

them got caught up in a crush. 96 people died, and hundreds more were

injured. Because of this disaster, football stadiums have changed. Fans

all have seats, and there are no longer metal fences between the

pitch and the stands. This has made football ground is much safer, so a

disaster like this could never happen again.

Yesterday, a big investigation into how the 96 football fans

They found out that it was, of course, something very appalling.

It was decided they were unlawfully killed -

that means it wasn't an accident - and organisations including

the police and ambulance service made mistakes.

You can hear the rehearsals going on behind me right now. There is going

to be an event commemorating all those football fans who died, but

lots of schoolchildren have been coming down here today as well to

lay their own wreaths and flowers, and also to leave there and personal

messages. This is what some had to say.

You didn't deserve this. We all feel for you. We all hope your families

are OK. RIP those who died in the tragedy. They are in a happy place.

I hope all those who have sadly lost their lives can now rest in piece,

knowing that they have justice. My thoughts are with the family is

always. You will never walk alone. We

weren't around when it happened, but we know everything that has

happened, everything behind it. And what everyone has gone through to

get to this point. And everyone is overwhelmed and so happy about the

outcome. I think it is just something we have

all grown up with, knowing about Hillsborough, sort of one of those

main events that changed football. Families can be addressed and they

can grieve like they were meant to all those years ago.
