Hello, I'm Jenny, you're watching Newsround live on CBBC. | :00:00. | :00:07.
And we find out why things are on the up for Grizzly bears. | :00:08. | :00:28.
They're one of Australia's most famous species. | :00:29. | :00:31.
But koalas are having a bit of a hard time at the moment | :00:32. | :00:35.
at the moment as Ayshah's been finding out. | :00:36. | :00:37.
Since 2012, koalas have been listed as a vulnerable species, | :00:38. | :00:47.
and now their numbers have fallen further. | :00:48. | :00:51.
Today, there are fewer than 40,000 left in the wild. | :00:52. | :00:55.
Mainly because of things like dog attacks, cars, vanishing habitats. | :00:56. | :01:02.
Koalas have declined by 50% in the last 15 to 20 years. | :01:03. | :01:06.
The very area that they want to get in and absolutely hammer | :01:07. | :01:10.
is the very area that is the highest koala habitat colony. | :01:11. | :01:15.
So logging and deforestation is the big issue | :01:16. | :01:18.
Researchers say coastal gum trees where the koalas live | :01:19. | :01:25.
and eat could be affected by rising sea levels. | :01:26. | :01:29.
If that happens, the tasty leaves of the trees | :01:30. | :01:32.
But, there are a few ideas people are looking at to protect koalas | :01:33. | :01:39.
Like huge koala parks to help those at risk. | :01:40. | :01:47.
And stopping logging in certain areas. | :01:48. | :01:51.
So hopefully this will help them do what they normally do. | :01:52. | :01:54.
How cute are they? This rocket had a very busy weekend. The SpaceX | :01:55. | :02:16.
launched from Florida at the weekend. | :02:17. | :02:19.
Getting a satellite into space is a challenge. | :02:20. | :02:20.
But it's getting easier and a lot cheaper. | :02:21. | :02:26.
This is the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in action over the weekend. | :02:27. | :02:34.
It just completed two missions in 48 hours, delivering ten satellites | :02:35. | :02:39.
So what's so special about the Falcon 9 rocket? | :02:40. | :02:44.
Well, it can be used time and time again. | :02:45. | :02:47.
It is unmanned, once it has released all of its cargo. | :02:48. | :02:56.
It can return back to Earth, usually on the landing zone, | :02:57. | :02:59.
a floating ship on water like this one. | :03:00. | :03:02.
But SpaceX has now started to successfully land | :03:03. | :03:04.
The company continues to break boundaries. | :03:05. | :03:14.
They even have plans to send tourists around the moon. | :03:15. | :03:22.
And good news for the Yellowstone grizzly bear in America. | :03:23. | :03:25.
After years of being on the endangered species list, | :03:26. | :03:28.
with only 136 left in the wild, their population has risen. | :03:29. | :03:33.
Experts believe there are more than 700 now and they will soon | :03:34. | :03:36.
be taken off the list of animals in trouble. | :03:37. | :03:44.
Next, it's not just the grizzlies who have good news... | :03:45. | :03:48.
These birds behind me are called bitterns, | :03:49. | :03:49.
and they used to be endangered here in the UK. | :03:50. | :03:57.
like the new wildlife reserves, that have been created | :03:58. | :04:00.
along the Somerset coast, the bird's numbers are increasing, | :04:01. | :04:02.
and we'll be able to enjoy their strange booming call | :04:03. | :04:05.
Finally, meet Captain Megan Couto, from Canada. | :04:06. | :04:07.
She has become the first female ever to lead the Queen's Guard | :04:08. | :04:10.
While women in the British Army now serve in many front line duties, | :04:11. | :04:14.
until July last year they were banned from ground close | :04:15. | :04:17.
combat roles, so no female officer has served as Captain | :04:18. | :04:20.
I'm not sure if this will be symbolic for anybody | :04:21. | :04:25.
I know, certainly for myself, it is a great pleasure to be | :04:26. | :04:32.
considered an equal of my peers and any one of my peers would be | :04:33. | :04:37.
absolutely delighted to be the Captain of the guard here. | :04:38. | :04:40.
So I feel equally honoured to be given the opportunity, | :04:41. | :04:42.
That's all from the team today, but set your alarm clocks, | :04:43. | :04:47.
because I'll be back right here tomorrow morning at 7.40 am | :04:48. | :04:49.
And make sure you head online. Bye-bye. | :04:50. | :05:03.
Yo, whassup? Do you watch CBBC shows on your phone or tablet? | :05:04. | :05:09.
Well, you've got to do something really important, yeah? | :05:10. | :05:13. |
