And the Dachshund dogs getting all dressed up.

0:00:110:00:16

The Great Manchester Run is now under way.

0:00:250:00:27

Around 24,000 people have come to Manchester to take

0:00:270:00:29

part the 10km event.

0:00:290:00:31

The elite races have already finished.

0:00:380:00:40

It only took her just over 31 mins to complete the course.

0:00:400:00:46

Dathan Ritzenhein won his in under 30 mins.

0:00:460:00:48

The Monaco Grand Prix started earlier this afternoon,

0:00:480:00:50

with Britain's Lewis Hamilton currently in the top ten

0:00:500:00:52

with about half the race to go.

0:00:520:00:54

Finland's Kimi Raikkonen took pole position in qualifiers yesterday,

0:00:540:00:56

while Jenson Button makes his return to Formula 1 after being called up

0:00:560:00:59

to cover for Fernando Alonso.

0:00:590:01:03

Tomorrow evening Reading and Huddersfield Town face each

0:01:030:01:05

other in the Championship playoffs at Wembley.

0:01:050:01:07

A win would mean promotion to the Premier League,

0:01:070:01:09

which would be the first time ever for Huddersfield.

0:01:090:01:14

We've been asking fans from both clubs what it would mean to them.

0:01:140:01:17

# We are going up, say we are going up #.

0:01:170:01:20

I think the score is going to be 2-1 to Town.

0:01:200:01:23

I think the score is going to be 2-1 to Reading and I think Kermorgant

0:01:230:01:27

is going to score two goals.

0:01:270:01:29

Three!

0:01:290:01:30

1-0 to Town.

0:01:300:01:31

Well, my prediction is that Town will win 2-1.

0:01:310:01:33

I think the score will be 2-0 Reading.

0:01:330:01:36

I feel excited and if they win I think they will be writing history.

0:01:360:01:46

I hope we're going to the Premier League cos then we can

0:01:460:01:48

play against some really good teams like Arsenal and Chelsea.

0:01:480:01:51

We could beat almost everyone in the Premier League.

0:01:510:01:53

I want Reading to go up because I've been a Reading

0:01:530:01:56

supporter all my life.

0:01:560:01:57

It will mean everything to me and my family.

0:01:570:01:59

I really hope they get to the Premier League.

0:01:590:02:01

I've never seen Town do so well so I'm pretty excited.

0:02:010:02:04

Come on, you can do it.

0:02:040:02:05

Good luck.

0:02:050:02:06

I wish you the best luck and I hope we make it.

0:02:060:02:09

It will just be like my life is over cos I never expected such a thing.

0:02:090:02:13

# We love you, Reading, we do.

0:02:130:02:17

# Oh, Reading, we love you #.

0:02:170:02:19

Come on, Town!

0:02:190:02:23

Next the way you train for rugby sessions could change soon

0:02:230:02:25

to help reduce the risk of players getting hurt.

0:02:250:02:27

Here's Jenny to tell us more.

0:02:270:02:29

Rugby.

0:02:300:02:32

Everyone knows it's not the most...gentle of sports.

0:02:320:02:36

But it's been hitting headlines recently because of some really bad

0:02:400:02:43

head injuries professional players like Johnny Sexton and George North

0:02:430:02:46

have been suffering on the pitch.

0:02:460:02:53

Head and neck injuries happen a lot more often in rugby than other

0:02:530:02:56

sports because of the impact of tackling and scrummaging.

0:02:560:02:59

People have even asked whether contact rugby should be

0:02:590:03:01

played by kids at school.

0:03:010:03:04

Well, a research team have found a way of seriously reducing the risk

0:03:040:03:07

of head injuries to kids.

0:03:070:03:11

They found that by doing a special 20-minute exercise programme

0:03:110:03:14

at least three times a week, the risk of injury is

0:03:140:03:17

dramatically reduced.

0:03:170:03:18

In the schools where it was tested, there were less than half as many

0:03:180:03:22

neck and head injuries.

0:03:220:03:24

I feel more confident now that I've got these

0:03:240:03:26

injury-prevention exercises before the game, before training.

0:03:260:03:28

So I feel more confident to go into the tackles.

0:03:280:03:32

I've got more range of movement, I feel that

0:03:320:03:35

fitness-wise, I feel better.

0:03:350:03:38

I can play for longer.

0:03:380:03:39

And now the governing body of rugby in England, the RFU,

0:03:390:03:42

is looking to introduce the exercises into schools

0:03:420:03:44

and nonprofessional clubs in England from next season.

0:03:440:03:50

We put together this research project over three years,

0:03:500:03:53

which has just been published and it does show, actually,

0:03:530:03:55

these types of movement-control programmes do seem to have a really

0:03:550:03:58

good effect in terms of injury prevention in rugby.

0:03:580:04:01

So we are starting to roll this out in schools next month.

0:04:010:04:04

Well, it certainly looks like they're trying

0:04:040:04:06

to tackle this issue.

0:04:060:04:11

And it that time of the week again when things get a little weird.

0:04:110:04:15

It's time for Strange, Stranger, Strangest.

0:04:150:04:17

Strange!

0:04:170:04:19

What do you usually find in a vending machine?

0:04:190:04:22

Crisps, drinks...

0:04:220:04:23

Cars?

0:04:230:04:25

Yeah, that's right.

0:04:250:04:26

At this car showroom in Singapore they make the most of the space

0:04:260:04:29

by piling up cars like chocolate in a vending machine.

0:04:290:04:33

Once you've picked the one you want, a computer sets the machine

0:04:330:04:36

in action and brings the car to you.

0:04:360:04:38

I'll take a red one, please.

0:04:380:04:40

Stranger!

0:04:400:04:42

Have you ever seen twin baby pandas?

0:04:420:04:45

They're pretty cute, aren't they?

0:04:450:04:46

And they're the first to be born in captivity.

0:04:460:04:49

These brothers are a month old and doing well.

0:04:490:04:51

When they were born, they were even smaller and kept

0:04:510:04:54

warm and fed in hospital to get their strength up.

0:04:540:04:58

Now they're back with their mum and waiting for names.

0:04:580:05:00

How about Ricky One and Ricky Two?

0:05:000:05:02

No?

0:05:020:05:03

Strangest!

0:05:030:05:05

Now, be honest, would you rather walk up lots

0:05:050:05:07

of stairs or take the lift?

0:05:070:05:10

What about running a marathon up stairs?

0:05:100:05:12

More than 2,000 people took on what might be the most

0:05:120:05:16

challenging race of the year, the Great Wall Marathon in China.

0:05:160:05:19

The run involves 5,164 steps.

0:05:190:05:24

How many?

0:05:240:05:25

It makes me tired just saying 5,164 steps.

0:05:250:05:29

Superb effort.

0:05:290:05:32

Finally, who fancies seeing some little dogs

0:05:320:05:34

dressed in cute costumes?

0:05:340:05:35

Yep, me too.

0:05:350:05:37

This little devil is taking part in the fifth annual Dachshund Parade

0:05:370:05:40

in St Petersberg in Russia.

0:05:400:05:45

Outfits ranged from a Chinese emperor to what we think might be

0:05:450:05:48

Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean...?

0:05:480:05:50

That's all from me.

0:05:500:05:52

Newsround's back tomorrow with Whitney.

0:05:520:05:53

Bye.
