Hi, I'm Martin, it's Sunday and this is Newsround.

0:00:080:00:10

Coming up: We visit the island known as the rubbish dump.

0:00:100:00:13

And the Dachshund dogs getting all dressed up.

0:00:130:00:15

First up, it was a record-breaking night for Arsenal, who became

0:00:230:00:26

the first team to lift the FA cup for the thirteenth time.

0:00:260:00:29

Alexis Sanchez gave the Gunners the lead after only four minutes.

0:00:290:00:32

And, while Diego Costa revived Chelsea's hopes in the second half,

0:00:320:00:35

Ramsey scored the winner with a late header.

0:00:350:00:39

The win means Arsene Wenger becomes the first manager to win

0:00:390:00:43

the FA Cup seven times.

0:00:430:00:47

I'm very proud because you see what kind of fight you have

0:00:470:00:50

when you want to win one and you have to go

0:00:500:00:53

for another round.

0:00:530:00:54

And if nobody has done it before, you know, I'm proud for having done

0:00:540:00:57

two things that have not been done.

0:00:570:01:01

To win the Championship without losing a game

0:01:010:01:03

and to win seven FA Cups.

0:01:030:01:04

So it's not easy, believe me.

0:01:040:01:09

And in Glasgow, Celtic have won the Scottish Cup with this

0:01:090:01:12

goal from Tom Rogic.

0:01:120:01:13

Aberdeen had scored first, but were soon equalled

0:01:130:01:15

by Stuart Armstrong, and the winning goal came in

0:01:150:01:18

the final minutes to secure the Cup.

0:01:180:01:23

Britain's Lewis Hamilton will start back in 13th position

0:01:230:01:25

at the Monaco Grand Prix later.

0:01:250:01:27

Finland's Kimi Raikkonen took pole position in qualifiers yesterday,

0:01:270:01:29

while Jenson Button makes his return to Formula One after being called up

0:01:290:01:34

to cover for Fernando Alonso.

0:01:340:01:38

The way you train for rugby sessions could change soon to help reduce

0:01:380:01:41

the risk of players getting hurt.

0:01:410:01:43

Here's Jenny to tell us more.

0:01:430:01:47

Rugby.

0:01:470:01:48

Everyone knows it's not the most gentle of sports.

0:01:480:01:53

But it's been hitting headlines recently because of some really bad

0:01:570:02:00

head injuries professional players like Johnny Sexton and George North

0:02:000:02:03

have been getting on the pitch.

0:02:030:02:07

Head and neck injuries happen a lot more often in rugby than other

0:02:070:02:10

sports because of the impact of tackling and scrummaging.

0:02:100:02:15

People have even asked whether contact rugby should be

0:02:150:02:18

played by kids at school.

0:02:180:02:21

Well, a research team have found a way of seriously reducing the risk

0:02:210:02:24

of head injuries to kids.

0:02:240:02:25

They found that by doing a special 20-minute exercise programme

0:02:250:02:27

at least three times a week, the risk of injury is

0:02:270:02:30

dramatically reduced.

0:02:300:02:31

In the schools where it was tested, there were less than half as many

0:02:310:02:34

neck and head injuries.

0:02:340:02:36

I feel more confident now that I've got these

0:02:360:02:39

injury-prevention exercises before the game, before training.

0:02:390:02:41

So I feel more confidence to go into the tackles.

0:02:410:02:43

I've got more range of movement, I feel that

0:02:430:02:48

fitness-wise, I feel better.

0:02:480:02:51

I can play it for longer.

0:02:510:02:54

And now the governing body of rugby in England, the RFU,

0:02:540:02:57

is looking to introduce the exercises into schools

0:02:570:02:59

and nonprofessional clubs in England from next season.

0:02:590:03:00

We put together this research project over three years,

0:03:000:03:02

which has just been published and it does show, actually,

0:03:020:03:06

these types of movement-control programmes do seem to have a really

0:03:060:03:09

good effect in terms of injury prevention in rugby.

0:03:090:03:16

So we are starting to roll this out in schools next month.

0:03:160:03:19

Well, it certainly looks like they're trying

0:03:190:03:21

to tackle this issue.

0:03:210:03:28

Now to the Pacific Ocean and the tiny island that's

0:03:280:03:30

in the middle of what's been nick-named the rubbish

0:03:300:03:32

dump of the ocean.

0:03:320:03:34

I've been finding out more.

0:03:340:03:37

Henderson Island in the South Pacific.

0:03:380:03:39

This desert island lies 3,000 miles off the coast of South America.

0:03:390:03:42

And it is far from paradise.

0:03:420:03:44

No-one lives here and it's littered with plastic people throw away.

0:03:440:03:47

Research teams spent three months here and say

0:03:470:03:49

they found so much rubbish, nearly 17 tonnes of it dumped

0:03:490:03:53

along the coastline.

0:03:530:04:01

So, what is going on?

0:04:010:04:03

Well, when plastic ends up in the sea, it gets carried

0:04:030:04:06

by currents that are constantly swirling around in our oceans.

0:04:060:04:08

Plastic doesn't always break down, so eventually,

0:04:080:04:10

it enters one of our ocean's massive rubbish dumps.

0:04:100:04:12

The biggest is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is halfway

0:04:120:04:16

between Hawaii and California.

0:04:160:04:20

And some people think that Henderson Island is suffering

0:04:200:04:23

because of where it sits on the planet.

0:04:230:04:29

It's really shocking because as you step along

0:04:290:04:31

the beach, the plastic is absolutely everywhere.

0:04:310:04:33

No place is without it.

0:04:330:04:34

Could this help to clean up the world's biggest rubbish dump?

0:04:340:04:37

A floating barrier designed to attract plastic in the ocean,

0:04:370:04:39

while still allowing marine life to pass by without getting caught.

0:04:390:04:43

The team say their technology, ready in 12 months, could remove

0:04:430:04:48

half of all the rubbish in the Pacific in five years.

0:04:480:04:51

Plastic pollution in the ocean causes a big environmental issue.

0:04:510:04:56

Over 100 species are already threatened by extinction thanks

0:04:560:04:58

to this plastic pollution.

0:04:580:05:01

And also, it becomes more hazardous over time.

0:05:010:05:04

But right now, back on Henderson Island,

0:05:040:05:10

the wildlife has had to adapt, making plastic tubs

0:05:100:05:13

and bottle tops their home.

0:05:130:05:18

And with thousands of new items washing up every day,

0:05:180:05:20

this protected site, for now, will remain

0:05:200:05:26

the planet's dumping ground.

0:05:260:05:28

Finally, who fancies seeing some little dogs

0:05:290:05:31

dressed in cute costumes?

0:05:310:05:32

Yep, me, too.

0:05:320:05:34

This little devil is taking part in the fifth annual Dachshund parade

0:05:340:05:37

in St Petersburg in Russia.

0:05:370:05:39

Outfits ranged from a Sphinx and Chinese emperor to what we think

0:05:390:05:42

might be Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

0:05:420:05:46

Good work, hounds!

0:05:460:05:50

That's all from me. Newsround's back just after 2:00pm.

0:05:500:05:52

See you then. Bye!
