First to a very talented chap. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:19
No, not this fella - but Paddington writer Michael Bond. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
Today he died at the age of 91, but I don't think his creation | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
will ever leave our screens. | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
Michael's first book was published almost 50 years ago, | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
it then became a TV series and a film in 2014. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:34
He was inspired by a teddy bear he saw in a shop window. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
But don't worry, there's still more Paddington to come as a sequel | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
to the movie will be out next year. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
Next, chatting to friends online or on social media can be fun, | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
but a new feature from Snapchat has got people worried that we could be | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
sharing too much information. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:50
I've been finding out more. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
Snapchat is a popular way to contact your friends online | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
and send them pictures showing what you're up to. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
But recently a new feature has been added. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
It shows people where you are in the world. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
The Snap Map shows a user's bitmoji, their cartoon avatar | 0:01:02 | 0:01:06
within Snapchat, pinpointed on a world map. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
Users can then zoom into the map to see the exact | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
location of their friends. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
It is worrying that Snapchat are encouraging users | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
to share their location through the app, potentially | 0:01:16 | 0:01:18
with everyone on their contact list. | 0:01:18 | 0:01:20
The NSPCC wouldn't recommend that anyone shares their location, | 0:01:20 | 0:01:23
particularly with people they don't know. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
And that's why we are calling for all young people to be able | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
to have safer accounts, with privacy settings | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
set as default. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:32
What young people can do with Snapchat is actually use | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
a setting called ghost mode, which allows them to | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
hide their location. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:38
And we would encourage all young people to do that. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:40
It's really, really simple to setup. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
If you turn on ghost mode, you can still see your friends, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
but they won't be able to see whereabouts you are. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
When in photo taking mode, pinch the screen to open Snap Map. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:52
Touch the setting cog in the top right corner of the screen, | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
and tap ghost mode to switch off the location sharing. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:59
A spokesperson for Snapchat has told us... | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
Over 100 million people use Snapchat all over | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
the world, every single day. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:18
But if you want to make sure your friends don't know | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
exactly where you are, then turn the location off. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:26
Fatbergs! | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
The super gross collections of fat that join together | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
and clog up our sewers - ewww! | 0:02:30 | 0:02:37
Well, it's gone from yuck to useful as this sewer fat is now | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
being turned into something a lot more valuable. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
Jenny's got this one. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:43
Deep below our feet in the sewers underground, something nasty lurks. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:48
When people pour fat and grease from cooking down the drain, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:53
the fat clumps together to create massive horrible fatbergs! | 0:02:53 | 0:02:59
Some fatbergs are huge and can create big problems, | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
costing water companies a lot of money to clear away. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:07
That's about four foot deep down there. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:09
But now this sewer sludge is about to be changed | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
into something really valuable. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
A fuel company is going around sucking up the fatbergs. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:17
They're then taken to a special processing plant where they can be | 0:03:17 | 0:03:22
turned into a type of car fuel called biodiesel. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
So we've collected a fatberg from a water company sewer. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
The vehicle's travelled down, he's come to side, he's now tipping. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:34
There's a lot of solids in this one so, actually, | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
he's using the tipping truck to tip that in there. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:39
This is where we receive all those raw materials to turn into biofuel. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:42
The fat gets heated, pumped and filtered, | 0:03:42 | 0:03:44
removing all the sludge and slime. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:49
So we've removed all of the solids, all of the liquids and we're left | 0:03:49 | 0:03:53
with a clean oil that looks a little bit like this. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:55
From this... | 0:03:55 | 0:03:56
To this. | 0:03:56 | 0:03:58
Pretty remarkable! | 0:03:58 | 0:04:00
Biodiesel is way cleaner for the environment than regular | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
diesel, and this plant can make up to 90 million litres a year. | 0:04:03 | 0:04:13
But are there enough slimy fatbergs around? | 0:04:13 | 0:04:14
I guess it's difficult to say. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:16
As a part of the trial we've been taking about 30 tonnes | 0:04:16 | 0:04:19
a week out of Birmingham. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:20
That's 30 tonnes of fatberg from just Birmingham every week. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:23
I don't know whether to be disgusted or impressed. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:27
So from yuck to useful. | 0:04:27 | 0:04:30
Fatbergs are being turned into something pretty nifty. | 0:04:30 | 0:04:34
Finally, who's up for a little live moo-sic?! | 0:04:36 | 0:04:41
Five-year-old Bella decided to entertain these cows | 0:04:41 | 0:04:46
with her ukelele whilst on holiday at her grandparents' | 0:04:46 | 0:04:48
caravan, in Wales. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:50
She built up quite an audience. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:53
That's all from me. | 0:04:56 | 0:04:57
Newsround's back tomorrow with Jenny. | 0:04:57 | 0:04:58
Bye for now. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:00
Hi, guys, we've important news for you today. So important. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:07
Really important. Extremely important. Incredibly important. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:10 |
