only the best records and record attempts from across the globe.

Again, fairly good, but I'd have smiled. That's just me.

Anyway, today we're witnessing a rather special

and unique flipping record attempt.

It's not one that involves me directly, but that doesn't mean that

I don't have the skills.

Yes, you don't want to miss these awe-inspiring Guinness World Records

title attempts, including...

Somebody stop this woman!

She's setting a load of doors on fire.

But fret ye not, it's for good record-breaking reason.

In America,

cowboy Will Roberts is going to attempt two Wild Western records.

But will it be yee-haw or rode-oh-no?

The Sizzler, US Ray and Mr Cherry really don't seem to like balloons

and you can see who likes them the least and pops them quickest

in today's Officially Competitive.

First, it's over to Al in America.

Uh-oh!

Argh!

Heh-heh-heh!

BIRDS CAW

-AMERICAN ACCENT:

-In the Wild West of America,

where the harsh sun stings your eyes

like when you accidentally get soap and conditioner in them

when you're washin' your hair...

-NORMAL VOICE:

-Oh, come on, Al, go with it.

'I'd be careful, Ben.

'Folks don't take kindly to your jokes around these parts.'

BULLET PINGS

-HARUKA:

-Yeah, it's not just round those parts, Al.

Um, can we focus on the real bandit round here, thank you?

Let me just get back into character. Ahem!

-AMERICAN ACCENT:

-We've rounded up a rootin' tootin', rope-swingin',

gunslingin' bandit and he's got breakin' records in his sights.

BIRD CAWS

-NORMAL VOICE:

-Can someone shut that crow up?

They've got some cliched cowboy staring to do.

BOING!

Um, I'm not quite sure you've got it, Al.

Howdy, partner!

I heard you got some officially amazing skills.

'Ah, boy!'

OK, he is good, and that's because he's Will Roberts,

one of the most highly skilled and trained cowboys in the West.

Just look at the moves!

Later on, Will's going to be trying a record with these specially adapted

safe performance guns.

But first, he's going for a record involving rope.

This type of rope is called a lasso.

And it was originally designed to help the cowboys catch and move cows,

hence where the cowboys get their name.

Mind the camera, Will!

Honestly, the things I get roped into on this show!

Will, here we are. Tell me a bit about, you have a rope in your hand,

-what's this record attempt about?

-So, it's called the Texas Skip.

It's basically about a 25-foot rope that I'm going to take

and spin out, get it vertical

and then jump through it.

This is going to spin. Now, you've got to move back a little bit.

There. That's it.

But this is it and I have to do as many as I can.

The record Will is attempting today is for the...

Out here in the Wild West,

the temperature is hot.

It's high noon and 43 degrees.

That's hotter than it's ever been in the UK. Phew!

Urgh, gross!

'That's water, Ben.'

While Will loosens up his lasso,

let's check out those rooting-tooting rules.

With each pass, Will must jump through the centre of the loop.

Each skip must be taken on a turn and a half of the rope.

That means he needs to twirl the rope 360 degrees...

..and then a further 180 before stepping through.

And he needs a minimum

of 45 skips to set the record.

Will, are you ready to rope your way into cowboy history?

-I am going to try. I'm telling you, it's so hot out here.

-All right.

Three, two, one...

Begin.

He's off to a smoking start.

-Oh!

-But oh, no!

He's barely begun before

his boot snagged the lasso.

That was a ropey first attempt.

But this cowboy won't let that or this heat hold him back.

While Will cools himself off and gets ready to go again,

let's hop over to Ben back in the UK.

SHE SIGHS

Argh! Ow!

Meet Thore, Luai and Lasse,

three of Germany's

most talented young gymnasts.

These guys can do anything on this gym apparatus

and so it comes as little surprise that today they're going to attempt

to set an incredible new Guinness World Records' title for...

It might sound like

it's just drinking some water,

but it's far from it.

Check this out!

This is a ridiculously difficult and unique record attempt.

These are expert gymnasts, working in a controlled environment,

so please do not try this at home.

The guys have to get exactly the right pace

to flip precisely the right height

and get the perfect angle over the glass to suck up some liquid,

all in a split second as they fly over the top.

They then have to run all the way back and join the line

to do it again.

Which point during the whole manoeuvre is the point

at which it could all go wrong?

When you're not, er, deep enough in the glass with the straw.

-Oh, right.

-So, you have to be very deep,

so you get the water.

And what about speed? Do you have to get up to a certain pace

in order to make the jump work?

Yeah, that's difficult because you have to be fast enough

so you can jump very good and, er, you are high enough,

because when you go too slowly, you don't get high enough.

Wow! But if you go too fast,

-you'll be...

-Yeah, you are too high and you'll not come into the water.

-Wow, so that's a difficult calculation to make.

-Yeah.

It looks STRAWFULLY tricky! Let's check out the rules.

They can't use their hands at all during the flip.

Spill any water from the container and the attempt is over.

The guys have a two-minute limit

to complete their attempt

and they need to remove a minimum of 50ml from the container

to set a new record.

Are we ready to see a record broken?

ALL: Yes!

Course we are. Guys, off you go. Best of luck.

In case you're worried, that is water. 384ml of it, to be precise.

But it's been coloured blue to look all pretty on your telly.

'Thore is up first.'

Ooh, it's a good start.

'and then it's back to the start to go again.

'Lasse up next, and oh, no!'

-Ooh!

'Luai a bit too fast there, he just couldn't get the angle.'

'Remember, the guys only need to remove 50ml of water.

'and a measure of just how difficult this is.'

'is happy, but it's a nervous wait while she measures.

and I can tell you that today you removed...

'a sensational straw-sucking success

'that confirms Luai, Thore and Lasse are officially amazing.'

Ah! Ohhh...

Heh-heh-heh!

Welcome back to the hot, hot heat of California.

Earlier, we met cowboy Will Roberts, who's trying to break a world record

for the most Texas Skips in 30 seconds.

-During his first attempt...

-Oh!

..the strength-sapping heat and the little catching of his boot

meant that the record was over

almost as soon as it had begun.

But Will is determined to go again.

Remember, he needs 45 skips to set the record.

As you can see, it's very difficult.

He's getting his breath and he's ready to go again.

Three, two, one, begin!

'Yee-haw! Look at Will go!

'It's so hot! He must feel like he's jumping through a ring of fire!

'The scorching sun makes this very physically challenging.

'But can Will take the heat and take home a new world record?

'The average summer temperature in the UK is 19 degrees.

'It's more than twice as hot here.

'But despite the sweltering climate, Will's not giving up.'

-Stop!

-All right.

'Well done, Will. That was really hot stuff.'

Take a second, catch your breath.

We have some water on the way for you. Have some water. All right.

Will's lasted the full 30 seconds doing those sizzling skips,

but did he do enough to get the record?

So, as you know, the minimum requirement for

this category was set at 45 skips.

With that attempt, you achieved a total...

..of 40 skips!

Oh!

Oh-ho! Sometimes it's worse to get that close.

So, Will narrowly missed out on the record by just five skips,

a truly great effort.

But the heat has proven too much for Will, so he won't be trying again.

Just seems like it's just too hot out here.

It's hot, but I had to try, you know.

He's not done yet - Will has another cowboy skill ready to go.

He's determined to break a record,

by spinning these specialised performance pistols.

So, let's get inside, out of the heat, and find out exactly

what the record is.

The gun spin that I'm going to do for the record

looks like this - single action,

you're going to basically take the gun

and you're going to put it back in like this.

This movement is what cowboys call unholstering.

And this one is called holstering.

Will is going to be attempting the record for the...

So, are you ready to do this record?

-You mean break the record?

-Break the record, that's right,

'Yeah! Let's do this! Let's break a record, let's...

'Urgh! Not get hit by the door!

'While I go recover, why don't you guys go check out the rules?'

Will must remove the gun from the holster completely,

spin it for at least 360 degrees

and place it back in the holster for it to count.

He must remove his hand from the gun after each spin,

to show that it stays in the holster unaided.

And he needs at least 30 repetitions to set a new record.

Guns are lethal weapons and not toys,

which is why Will is using specially adapted pieces of kit

made for spinning.

'We're all rooting for you, Will.'

Three, two, one...

Go!

'He's off and he's on a roll -

'or a spin in this case!

'Although these are performance guns, they are extremely heavy.

'Each one is like spinning a litre of water.

'Oh, he's dropped it!'

Oh, man! The gun falls apart.

'These aren't the rugged real guns you'll find in the Wild, Wild West.

'He was a little too gung-ho there.

'But he does have one more performance pistol.

'If that breaks, it's all over. This really is his last chance saloon.'

'It's a strong start, but can this cowboy keep his cool

'in the desert heat?

'He has to hit the spin exactly right each time or he might drop it again.

'Look at the pain etched on his face.'

-I'm in pain.

-Fight through it, you got it!

'The repetitive action he is doing is really making his arm ache.

'Remember, he's got to do more than 30, but can he keep it going?

You got about three seconds left.

Bring it home.

'Come on, cowboy!'

-So excellent! All right!

-Whoo!

'That was officially fast

'and Will's arm has officially turned to jelly.'

-Yeah, ask me to wave.

-All right, let me see you wave.

That's all you got left!

'Hopefully, he hasn't just waved goodbye to the world record.'

Ben, how did he do?

So, as you know, the minimum requirement for this category

-was set at 30 repetitions.

-Yeah.

has walked through a door completely unnecessarily,

and the lady he's here to meet isn't impressed.

Before we meet her properly,

what record do you think she'll be attempting? Is it the record for...

Or the quickest time to run through burning locked doors?

Well, it's the quickest time to run through burning locked doors.

Obviously.

German stuntwoman Sandra Kier set the record at 23 seconds

a couple of years ago, so that's the target for today.

And who's going to try and beat it?

Step up, roller derby jammer, Vanessa Mayer.

As a jammer in roller derby, it's my job to break through that pack

and get up each time I get knocked down,

which prepares me for this world record of slamming down those doors.

Wow, she's a little scary!

Let's light it up!

Ten doors all on fire and locked, like a postman's worst nightmare!

Plus, they haven't got any letterboxes.

Can Vanessa deliver or will her dreams go up in flames?

She's ready to go, sensibly wearing a lot of safety gear.

Can she stand the heat?

-AL AND BEN: Who's there?

Nobody, I've burst through your door already!

She's just like Al running to get his morning doughnut.

Oh, apart from door nine.

But let's find out officially if Vanessa Mayer was on fire.

Here on Officially Amazing, we believe in the rule of three,

and these three certainly rule when it comes to world record breaking -

Cherry, US Ray and our very own Sizzling Steve are here in the UK,

battling it out to break some new world records

that you can try at home.

Three events in

and Mr Cherry's on one point,

Sizzling Steve's on two

and US Ray is on zero.

This is intense.

This is exciting.

This is Officially Competitive!

..er.

Today, our competitors have no idea what the record is

that they're going to be attempting.

You might have spotted a clue at the top of the show,

but for them, it's a puzzle.

And speaking of puzzles, as usual,

earlier on, Haruka, Al and I took part in a challenge

to decide the order in which Ray, Cherry and Sizzler would compete

in the mystery record attempt.

Whoever completed the puzzle fastest won.

Haruka was slow.

I was faster.

But somehow, Al was fastest.

'Yeah!'

-And I'm done.

-Anyway,

as a result, Ray chose to go last,

to learn from Cherry and then Steve's attempts. Wise choice,

as they still have no idea what record they'll be attempting,

which also means that our usual pre-match chats are about

their general competitive thoughts and preparation.

What does the Sizzling Steve package entail?

Well, it entails bacon.

Yeah.

-A lot of practising.

-Yeah.

And...

..just great skill.

-Yeah?

-And eloquence.

-Hmm.

AL: So, somehow, Steve is relying on sizzling bacon. I have no words.

Argh!

But what is US Ray thinking?

What kind of ways have you trained to get ready for this year?

A lot of push-ups, a lot of chopstick using,

a lot of whoopee cushions, a lot of just everyday things,

just making sure I'm better,

cos you never know what to expect on Officially Amazing.

That's right, and the fact that whoopee cushions and chopsticks

are everyday things to you, tells you you live a great life.

Exactly.

-HARUKA:

-Meanwhile, for Mr Cherry, it's all about the fans.

It's time to finally reveal what today's record attempt is.

What we're about to do is the record for the...

THEY CHEER

Yes!

Well, Cherry wants to know how we need to break it

because, as you know...

-Yeah.

-Boom, boom!

Yeah, a man with a specific set of talents.

Well, Mr Cherry will be pleased to learn that he can use his bum,

but he's not obliged to.

The 20 balloons can be burst using any part of the body,

but no additional objects, such as pins or hedgehogs, can be used.

The quickest time to burst them all wins

and they have to do that in under eight seconds to set the record.

If you're going to give this a go at home,

it's recommended you tie the balloons together

and even attach them to the floor,

else it'll make it an even trickier challenge

when they go flying off in every direction.

We've got the rules and we've blown up the balloons.

As Haruka completed her puzzle the slowest,

Cherry's up first.

Good luck, Mr Cherry. Are you ready?

-OK?

-OK, pop!

Go on, Cherry! Whoo! Come on!

'From his crouched starting position,

'Cherry launches himself headfirst into the balloons.

'until Sizzler and Ray have had their turns.'

Yeah! Unorthodox, but beautiful.

He's watched them go, picked up some tips,

and, as he's the only one without a world record this series,

'he wants this bad - under eight seconds the target.'

'Takes one out with his knee there almost instantly.'

'He's jumping for joy, but nothing's official yet!'

who basically had no idea what they were about to do.

who narrowly missed the target

with 8.17 seconds.

So, Steve,

-but then Ray beat you and he's got the new Guinness World Record!

-Yeah!

'Incredible and worthy of this romantic celebration.

'Steve achieved the record

'with 7.95 seconds.

'But with 3.94 seconds, Ray smashed it to smithereens!

'Let's see how that affects the scores.'

Team USA and Team Japan are level pegging with one point apiece,

and one world record apiece too!

Team UK is narrowly out in front on two points,

but sadly, no world records yet.

Although Sizzler was pretty close to getting one today.
