Hello, Emily. Only me! | 0:01:40 | 0:01:43
-Oh! It's you, Jack. -I'm sorry. Are you all right? | 0:01:43 | 0:01:48
-I didn't mean to make you jump. -You know me. Tough as old boots! | 0:01:48 | 0:01:53
-I'll be all right once I get this sorted. -Can I help? | 0:01:53 | 0:01:58
You have enough pressing jobs to be getting on with. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
What are you up to today, then? | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
The handle's come off this Toby jug. Look at that. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
I'll glue it back on when I get back to the Rainbow. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
-You've fixed that a few times over the years. -Yes, I have. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:14
Before I fix it, how about an ice cream? | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
Oh, there's something wrong with my ice-cream maker today. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:22
Fingers crossed! | 0:02:22 | 0:02:24
IT GROANS | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
-Oh! Leave off. Look. -Thank you, Jack. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:30
Oh dear. Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in again? | 0:02:30 | 0:02:34
-Of course I have! -Do you mind if I take a look? -You're welcome. | 0:02:34 | 0:02:39
-It's a silly old machine. -Right. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:43
-Let's have a look. -Ah! What are you doing? | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
Hiding in there, you cheeky thing. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:51
Ack-ack! Ack-ack! | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53
-Seagulls! -I've never seen that before. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:59
You know what they say... | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
"When a seagull's playing peek-a-boo, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
"it'll be a good day if you're wanting to glue." | 0:03:04 | 0:03:08
-Are you sure they say that? -Positive. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
Right, well, this is certainly broken all right. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:14
I think you need to call Sam Spinnaker. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
-She'll know how to fix it. -That's a good idea. I'll do that. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:21
-You'd go better fix that Toby jug of yours. -That's a good idea. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:26
I'll see you later, Emily. Thank you. Good luck. Come on, Salty. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:31
There she is. The Rainbow. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:42
But what have you got for us today, me dear? | 0:03:42 | 0:03:46
SHE TOOTS | 0:03:46 | 0:03:48
Hey-hey! Come on, Salty. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:51
# Dee-dee-dee-dee. # | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
Here we are. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:54
Into your bed. Go on, into your bed. There's a good girl. | 0:04:02 | 0:04:07
Do you know, I have had a few drinks out of this old Toby jug. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:11
It's just good clean water and a hunk of ice. That's all you need. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:15
Yes. What about the time you wanted ice in your drink, Salty? | 0:04:15 | 0:04:20
Do you remember? Let me think. Ah, yes, I remember now. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:25
This'll crinkle your crab sticks, this will. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
Once upon a twinkly time, the Rainbow set off from Staithes, | 0:04:28 | 0:04:33
waved goodbye to Whitby and disappeared over the horizon. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:39

What a scorcher of a day it was. It was hotter than a fireman's whistle. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:03
What Salty needed was an ice cube to cool down her drink | 0:05:03 | 0:05:08
but, sadly, we didn't have any ice. | 0:05:08 | 0:05:11
And then, we heard a little "beep"! | 0:05:11 | 0:05:15
I looked over, and bless my Dover sole, there was a little penguin | 0:05:15 | 0:05:20
floating towards us on a piece of ice, blowing his emergency whistle. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:26
"Ahoy there, young man, are you lost," I asked. | 0:05:26 | 0:05:30
The penguin nodded, so we helped him up onto the Rainbow. | 0:05:30 | 0:05:35
He explained that he was a member of the 123rd South Pole Rangers. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:41
He'd been on a sponsored waddle and waddled too far out on his own. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:46
He didn't notice that the ice behind him had cracked. | 0:05:46 | 0:05:50
He'd been separated from his friends. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:53
"We must get you back home," I said. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:56
"Will I earn a badge," asked the penguin. | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
Salty wasn't sure, were you? No! | 0:05:59 | 0:06:02
The penguin had an address label tied to one of his toggles. | 0:06:02 | 0:06:07
"123rd Penguin Ranger Troop, | 0:06:07 | 0:06:10
"Outer Edges of the Antarctic Continent," it read. | 0:06:10 | 0:06:14
Well, I opened my map of the world | 0:06:14 | 0:06:17
and that was near the South Pole, which was right at the bottom, | 0:06:17 | 0:06:21
a long way from Staithes and very, very cold. "Come on, Rainbow. | 0:06:21 | 0:06:26
"It's time to set sail," I said. But the Rainbow wasn't moving. | 0:06:26 | 0:06:31
Poor boat. Its engine had conked out in the heat. | 0:06:31 | 0:06:36
Salty suggested we give the Rainbow a rest | 0:06:36 | 0:06:39
and we waved down a taxi instead. Good idea. | 0:06:39 | 0:06:43
Salty had a card which read, "Dolphin Cabs - just whistle." | 0:06:43 | 0:06:47
So we did. | 0:06:47 | 0:06:49
And bam! A dolphin taxi whizzed up, just like that. | 0:06:49 | 0:06:55
What excellent service! | 0:06:55 | 0:06:57
"Hey, the meter's running. Get on board", said the taxi driver, | 0:06:57 | 0:07:01
whose name was Donnie. | 0:07:01 | 0:07:04
So, we all got on board. The penguin was very excited. | 0:07:04 | 0:07:08
"Can I get a badge for this?" Salty wasn't sure, were you? No, no. | 0:07:08 | 0:07:14
"Where are you guys going," asked the dolphin. "South," I said. | 0:07:14 | 0:07:19
"Oakley-doakley." And then, before I could say any more... Whoa! | 0:07:19 | 0:07:24
..the dolphin sped off through the ocean. "Beep beep!" shouted Donnie. | 0:07:24 | 0:07:29
"Out of the way!" | 0:07:29 | 0:07:31
And then, quite suddenly - eek, screech! - | 0:07:31 | 0:07:35
- we came to a halt. | 0:07:35 | 0:07:38
Ahead of us was a crowd of fish. | 0:07:38 | 0:07:40
"Come on, come on, come on, what is this, a tea party?" | 0:07:40 | 0:07:44
yelled Donnie to the fish. The penguin was absolutely thrilled. | 0:07:44 | 0:07:48
"That was a brilliant ride," he cried. "Do I get a badge for this?" | 0:07:48 | 0:07:53
Salty wasn't sure, were you? No, no. | 0:07:53 | 0:07:57
Well, the shoal of fish briefly parted to reveal a traffic light. | 0:07:57 | 0:08:02
It was stuck on red and nobody could drive through it. | 0:08:02 | 0:08:06
"Well, that's it, then, I can't take you guys no further. | 0:08:06 | 0:08:10
"You got to go on your own." | 0:08:10 | 0:08:12
And with that, Donnie flipped us into the water! | 0:08:12 | 0:08:15
"Good luck!" he shouted, before zooming off. | 0:08:15 | 0:08:19
Well, there we were, floating in the sea, completely lost. | 0:08:19 | 0:08:25
And then suddenly, | 0:08:25 | 0:08:26
a snorkel appeared in the water in front of us. | 0:08:26 | 0:08:30
It was the famous explorer, Sir Francis Fear-Not. | 0:08:30 | 0:08:34
He had a waterproof map round his neck and knew exactly where we were. | 0:08:34 | 0:08:39
We explained that we needed to get to the South Pole. "The South Pole? | 0:08:39 | 0:08:44
"Why, I travel there all the time. You can do anything if you try." | 0:08:44 | 0:08:49
He gave a loud whistle and a submarine rose | 0:08:49 | 0:08:54
from behind some sea petals. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:56
"All aboard!" he cried. | 0:08:56 | 0:08:58
The next thing we knew, we were on board a submarine. | 0:08:58 | 0:09:02
The submarine headed off to the South Pole. | 0:09:02 | 0:09:05
We could feel it getting colder and colder. | 0:09:05 | 0:09:08
"Nearly there," said Salty to the little penguin, | 0:09:08 | 0:09:12
who had an icicle on his beak. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:14
Well, Sir Francis stopped and raised the periscope to check | 0:09:14 | 0:09:18
if there was anything on top. | 0:09:18 | 0:09:20
He was very surprised to see four penguins, staring back at him! | 0:09:20 | 0:09:26
Hooray! It was the rest of the 123rd Penguin Ranger Troop. Ha-ha! | 0:09:26 | 0:09:33
They had been fishing and the periscope | 0:09:33 | 0:09:36
had come up through their ice hole. We had done it. Yeah! | 0:09:36 | 0:09:41
The penguins were back together again. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:44
The Head Ranger thanked us and awarded our little | 0:09:44 | 0:09:48
penguin friend with special badges for bravery, | 0:09:48 | 0:09:52
adventure and waddling. | 0:09:52 | 0:09:54
He was really thrilled. "Thank you for getting me home," he said. | 0:09:54 | 0:10:00
And one by one, the penguins slid on their tummies into the sea. | 0:10:00 | 0:10:06
Sir Francis Fear-Not jumped back into the submarine. | 0:10:06 | 0:10:09
"Happy exploring!" he shouted. And he whizzed off. | 0:10:09 | 0:10:14
That left Salty and me all alone, standing on a large chunk of ice. | 0:10:14 | 0:10:20
What were we going to do? | 0:10:20 | 0:10:23
Salty reminded me of what Sir Francis had said. | 0:10:23 | 0:10:28
"You can do anything if you try." | 0:10:28 | 0:10:32
With that, Salty picked up the fishing rods the penguins had | 0:10:32 | 0:10:37
left behind and started to paddle home with gusto. Good old Salty! | 0:10:37 | 0:10:43
-What a survivor. She deserved a badge for that. -I -think so. | 0:10:43 | 0:10:47
Anyway, the ice started to melt all around us as it reached | 0:10:47 | 0:10:51
warmer sea, so you can imagine how happy we were to spot a rainbow. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:56
We had made it! | 0:10:56 | 0:10:58
Salty was very thirsty when we climbed on board, | 0:10:58 | 0:11:02
and do you know what? | 0:11:02 | 0:11:04
That slab of ice we were travelling on had melted down to just | 0:11:04 | 0:11:08
a tiny ice cube. Perfect to cool down Salty's drink. | 0:11:08 | 0:11:15
And once we had fixed the engine, | 0:11:15 | 0:11:17
we were ready to set sail for Staithes and home. | 0:11:17 | 0:11:22
HE CHUCKLES | 0:11:22 | 0:11:25
Did you like that story, Salty? Yeah? All true, of course. | 0:11:32 | 0:11:37
Mind you, my stories always are. | 0:11:37 | 0:11:39
Oh, look! | 0:11:42 | 0:11:43
Come on. | 0:11:45 | 0:11:47
-Can you deliver this to Sam? -Ooh! | 0:11:59 | 0:12:02
-Ho-ho! Look out, we've got company. -Can't stop, Jack. -Eh? | 0:12:04 | 0:12:08
-Sam's fixed Emily's freezer. -Oh! | 0:12:08 | 0:12:11
Well, it looks like the ice cream is back on. | 0:12:11 | 0:12:14
-HE WHISTLES -Come on! | 0:12:14 | 0:12:17
Hello there, you two. Look, I've been selling ice creams all morning! | 0:12:17 | 0:12:23
So, the ice cream is nice and frozen, is it? | 0:12:23 | 0:12:25
Oh, yes, everything running like clockwork. Thanks to Sam. | 0:12:25 | 0:12:30
She is a clever girl. | 0:12:30 | 0:12:32
-We've sold everything! -Oh, no! | 0:12:32 | 0:12:35
Well, you know what they say, | 0:12:35 | 0:12:38
make hazelnuts while the sun shines. | 0:12:38 | 0:12:42
And I'm watching them seagulls like a hawk. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:45
They'll let me know when the weather is starting to turn. | 0:12:45 | 0:12:49
When seagulls swoop the loop the loop, | 0:12:49 | 0:12:53
under your brolly you must stoop. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:56
Ah, that means rain! You'll need your brolly, Jack. | 0:12:56 | 0:13:00
Oh, well, in that case, we'd better be off. Come on, Salty, teatime. | 0:13:00 | 0:13:04
Oh, you won't be wanting this then, eh, Jack? | 0:13:04 | 0:13:08
Oh, I would not say no, would I? Oh, that's marvellous. | 0:13:08 | 0:13:12
-And what a wonderful Toby jug! -It matches your other one. | 0:13:12 | 0:13:16
-I couldn't resist. -It's great, thank you. | 0:13:16 | 0:13:19
Oh, I haven't forgotten you, Salty. Here you are. | 0:13:19 | 0:13:23
One of your favourite dog biscuits. | 0:13:23 | 0:13:25
Emily, come here. Mwah! | 0:13:25 | 0:13:28
You're a marvel. Look at that, Salty. Go on, girl! | 0:13:28 | 0:13:31
-Good girl, go on. -See you later. -Yes, thank you! | 0:13:31 | 0:13:35
