Hello, Emily. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:48
Yes, I'm at the stall. I've done all my chores | 0:01:48 | 0:01:51
and I shall keep an eye on things until you get back. Bye! | 0:01:51 | 0:01:56
You're on the move today, Miss Bowline-Hitch. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
Yes, Jack! You know me, busy-busy! | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
You need a break once in a while. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
That is exactly what I am doing! | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
I'm keeping an eye on Emily's stall this morning. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:10
That is perfect! You can take a breather and have a sit-down. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:14
I know what you can do, you can do a bit of bird watching. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
Oh, no time for bird watching. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
Nonsense! You need to relax. Come here a minute. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
Have a seat. There you are. | 0:02:22 | 0:02:24
Oh...too hard. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
Right. Well, how about that? There, look at that. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:30
Oh...too squishy. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
Oh, well, what about a deckchair, then? | 0:02:32 | 0:02:35
Oh, far too complicated! | 0:02:35 | 0:02:36
I never sit down unless it's on my bike. Never! | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
I'm not that sort of person. I'm far too busy-busy. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
I see. We should be getting busy-busy too. Eh, Salty? | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
Yeah, I've got a lot of ropes that need coiling over on the Rainbow. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:51
Right, so I'll...I'll see you later, Miss Bowline-Hitch. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:56
Try and relax! | 0:02:56 | 0:02:57
-No time, Jack! Bye! -Bye! | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
There she is! | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
The Rainbow! | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
What have you got for us today, me dear? | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
-WHISTLE -(HE LAUGHS) | 0:03:15 | 0:03:17
Come on, Salty. (HE HUMS) | 0:03:17 | 0:03:21
Here we are. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
WHISTLE | 0:03:28 | 0:03:31
All right? Yeah, you look comfy there, Salty. Yeah. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:36
Miss Bowline-Hitch didn't look like she'd be comfy | 0:03:36 | 0:03:40
on any of those seats I offered her. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:42
Here, do you remember the time we met the Seaweed Queen? | 0:03:42 | 0:03:46
She could never get comfy, could she? (HE LAUGHS) | 0:03:46 | 0:03:51
I'll do that later, all right? | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
Yes, I'll just see if I can remember that story. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
I think I'll get comfy, too. There we are. | 0:03:56 | 0:04:00
Are you comfy? Good. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:02
Well, once upon a twinkly time, we set off from Staithes, | 0:04:02 | 0:04:06
waved goodbye to Whitby, and disappeared over the horizon. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:11
And as we sailed, we sang. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:14
# Just Salty Dog and me | 0:04:14 | 0:04:17
# On the briny, shiny sea | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
# There's many odd jobs We know we should do | 0:04:19 | 0:04:22
# But the sun's in the sky And the sky is so blue | 0:04:22 | 0:04:25
# So we'll stay at our ease And do what we please | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
-# Just Salty Dog and me. # -WHISTLE | 0:04:28 | 0:04:31
Yeah, we were just getting really relaxed, | 0:04:31 | 0:04:35
when suddenly, "Ouch!" | 0:04:35 | 0:04:38
A beautiful crown flew out of the water | 0:04:38 | 0:04:40
and fell back down with a splash. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:44
"Fetch my crown," came an angry voice. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:49
Salty looked at me and I looked at Salty. | 0:04:49 | 0:04:51
Something was going on under the waves | 0:04:51 | 0:04:54
and we thought we'd better find out. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:56
Well, as soon as we got under the water, | 0:04:56 | 0:04:59
we saw lots of fish rushing here and there in a great panic. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:03
And it wasn't long before we heard another, "Ouch!!" | 0:05:03 | 0:05:07
And again the crown went whizzing past | 0:05:07 | 0:05:10
followed by a cushion. Oops! Whoa! | 0:05:10 | 0:05:12
Eventually, we came to a pair of enormous golden gates | 0:05:14 | 0:05:19
and a large grim codfish with cotton wool in his ears | 0:05:19 | 0:05:23
was standing beside the gate on guard. | 0:05:23 | 0:05:27
Salty and I explained that we were interested in going inside the gates | 0:05:27 | 0:05:32
to see what was going on. | 0:05:32 | 0:05:34
"In there?" said the guard. "It's just noise and shouting. | 0:05:34 | 0:05:38
"That's why we have cotton wool in our ears. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:41
"You can go in if you like, but you'll only get shouted at. Ouch!", | 0:05:41 | 0:05:45
just as another cushion went flying past. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:49
Well, inside the gates was a beautiful underwater garden. | 0:05:49 | 0:05:54
An old gardener fish was raking up seashells nearby. | 0:05:54 | 0:05:59
We heard another shout from the other end of the garden. | 0:05:59 | 0:06:03
"Ouch! This is no good!" | 0:06:03 | 0:06:06
Well, the old gardener ducked as the crown flew past again. | 0:06:06 | 0:06:10
We asked him what was going on and he looked at us sadly. | 0:06:10 | 0:06:14
"It's the Queen of Seaweed, she loves her garden and she likes | 0:06:14 | 0:06:18
"to sit on her throne and gaze out at all the beautiful plants." | 0:06:18 | 0:06:24
Well, Salty and I thought she sounded nice. | 0:06:24 | 0:06:28
"Oh, she's not," said the gardener quietly. "She's a stinker." | 0:06:28 | 0:06:32
"She's rude and tells everyone off. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:35
"And no-one knows why she throws cushions all day. | 0:06:35 | 0:06:38
"Every time she sits down her crown flies off the top of her head." | 0:06:38 | 0:06:44
Well, this was very peculiar. | 0:06:44 | 0:06:47
And Salty and I, we decided that we had better go and see | 0:06:47 | 0:06:51
the Queen of Seaweed right away. | 0:06:51 | 0:06:53
So we walked over, ducking the odd flying cushion as we did so. | 0:06:53 | 0:06:59
Well, finally we arrived at a large and very elegant golden throne. | 0:06:59 | 0:07:05
"Try another cushion!" It was the Queen of Seaweed. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:11
She was very serious looking with seaweedy hair, | 0:07:11 | 0:07:14
a long flowing dress and she was wearing the crown. | 0:07:14 | 0:07:18
And beside her was a rather sad little fish carrying a cushion. | 0:07:18 | 0:07:25
"Put it on the throne!" she ordered. "And this time it had better work!" | 0:07:25 | 0:07:30
Well, the sad little fish did so. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:34
Then the Queen sat down... rather gingerly on the throne. | 0:07:34 | 0:07:40
"Ouch!" she shouted. | 0:07:40 | 0:07:42
And the crown shot off into the air. | 0:07:42 | 0:07:45
Two soldier fish appeared and raced after it. | 0:07:45 | 0:07:48
"Not again!" shouted the seaweed queen hurling the cushion. | 0:07:48 | 0:07:52
Then she saw us standing there watching her with open mouths. | 0:07:52 | 0:07:56
"What are you staring at?! Go away!" barked the Queen. | 0:07:56 | 0:08:01
Well, I bowed low and said, "Ma'am, we heard your shouts | 0:08:01 | 0:08:05
"and we thought we might be able to help find out what the problem is." | 0:08:05 | 0:08:10
"I know what the problem is!" snapped the Queen. "It's that!!" | 0:08:10 | 0:08:15
The Queen was pointing at a spiky little creature. | 0:08:15 | 0:08:21
It was a tiny sea urchin | 0:08:21 | 0:08:23
which was sitting quietly in the middle of her throne, | 0:08:23 | 0:08:27
right where the Queen wanted to place the royal bottom. | 0:08:27 | 0:08:32
"It's a nasty, prickly, spiky thing | 0:08:32 | 0:08:34
"and I can't sit down on my throne because of it." | 0:08:34 | 0:08:38
"Every time I do it hurts and my crown goes flying in the air." | 0:08:38 | 0:08:42
"I've tried putting cushions on it, | 0:08:42 | 0:08:45
"but I can still feel those pointy little spikes!" | 0:08:45 | 0:08:48
Sad little fish with the cushion said in a quiet voice, | 0:08:48 | 0:08:53
"We've tried to move it, | 0:08:53 | 0:08:55
"but it's so spiky that none of us can pick it up." | 0:08:55 | 0:08:58
The sea urchin blinked and stared at us. | 0:08:58 | 0:09:01
I scratched my beard. Now, here was a pretty problem. | 0:09:01 | 0:09:06
And then for the first time the sea urchin spoke. | 0:09:06 | 0:09:12
"Ask her to say please," it said in a tiny voice. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:17
The Queen looked like thunder. | 0:09:17 | 0:09:22
In all of her born days, | 0:09:22 | 0:09:24
she had never, ever, ever had to say please! | 0:09:24 | 0:09:28
She was a queen, queens didn't say please! | 0:09:28 | 0:09:33
"Well, perhaps that's the problem, Your Majesty," I suggested. | 0:09:33 | 0:09:37
All the fish that work for you are unhappy | 0:09:37 | 0:09:41
because you shout all the time. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:43
Maybe if you were a little bit nicer... | 0:09:43 | 0:09:47
Well, I thought the Queen was going to explode. | 0:09:47 | 0:09:51
But instead...she took a careful look around her garden | 0:09:51 | 0:09:58
and she saw the sad faces of all her fish with cotton wool in their ears | 0:09:58 | 0:10:02
from all the shouting. | 0:10:02 | 0:10:04
And she wondered if maybe, just maybe, | 0:10:04 | 0:10:07
she could try being a little bit more polite. | 0:10:07 | 0:10:11
So after a deep breath, | 0:10:11 | 0:10:14
she bent down and said in her best and most polite voice... | 0:10:14 | 0:10:20
"Mr Sea Urchin, could you move somewhere else?" | 0:10:20 | 0:10:26
"Please." | 0:10:26 | 0:10:29
It was the first time the fish of the seaweed queen's garden | 0:10:29 | 0:10:34
had heard her say please. | 0:10:34 | 0:10:36
And do you know what? It worked! | 0:10:36 | 0:10:40
"Of course," said the sea urchin. | 0:10:40 | 0:10:43
And he rolled off the throne. | 0:10:43 | 0:10:45
"Thank you," said a rather surprised Queen. | 0:10:45 | 0:10:49
And she looked out at all her fishy gardeners and guards and said, | 0:10:49 | 0:10:54
"Erm... thank you...everybody! Hmm!" | 0:10:54 | 0:11:01
And with that, she sat down on her throne. | 0:11:01 | 0:11:04
There was no shouting, no cushion throwing, | 0:11:04 | 0:11:08
no crowns whizzing through the air, | 0:11:08 | 0:11:10
just the quiet sounds of a beautiful undersea garden. | 0:11:10 | 0:11:16
The seaweed queen sighed a happy sigh | 0:11:16 | 0:11:19
and decided there and then to always say please and thank you, | 0:11:19 | 0:11:25
because it obviously worked wonders. | 0:11:25 | 0:11:29
And she gave the sea urchin a special medal | 0:11:29 | 0:11:32
which he proudly wore on one of his spikes for ever after. | 0:11:32 | 0:11:36
Wasn't that nice of her? (HE CHUCKLES) | 0:11:36 | 0:11:39
WHISTLE | 0:11:39 | 0:11:41
You like that story, Salty? Yeah? | 0:11:46 | 0:11:48
All true, of course. | 0:11:48 | 0:11:50
Mind you, my stories always are. (HE LAUGHS) | 0:11:50 | 0:11:53
(HE SIGHS) | 0:12:04 | 0:12:05
I wonder if Miss Bowline-Hitch found time to relax | 0:12:05 | 0:12:09
and do a bit of bird watching, eh? | 0:12:09 | 0:12:11
(HE CHUCKLES) | 0:12:11 | 0:12:13
-Well, I never! -(SHE SNORES SOFTLY) | 0:12:13 | 0:12:16
Well... | 0:12:18 | 0:12:20
Come on, Salty. | 0:12:20 | 0:12:22
(HE HUMS) | 0:12:22 | 0:12:24
-Hello there, Miss Bowline-Hitch. -Oh! | 0:12:24 | 0:12:27
-Ah! Jack! -Yeah. Having a quick snooze? | 0:12:27 | 0:12:30
Never! I was just resting my eyes. | 0:12:30 | 0:12:34
Oh, yes(!) | 0:12:34 | 0:12:36
I was doing...a bit of... bird watching. | 0:12:36 | 0:12:38
-Yes, that's it. -Yeah(!) | 0:12:38 | 0:12:41
-Have you seen any yet? (HE LAUGHS) -No, I've not. | 0:12:41 | 0:12:45
GULL SCREECHES | 0:12:46 | 0:12:48
-Oh. -(HE CHUCKLES) | 0:12:51 | 0:12:53
-Well, perhaps I dropped off briefly. -Yes. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:57
The deckchair was more comfy than I realised. | 0:12:57 | 0:13:00
I think you deserve a break. Everybody deserves a break. | 0:13:00 | 0:13:04
Oh, thank you, Jack. | 0:13:04 | 0:13:06
You won't tell anyone. I don't want people thinking I'm not busy-busy. | 0:13:06 | 0:13:11
No, no, I won't tell. See you soon. (HE CHUCKLES) | 0:13:11 | 0:13:15
Bye, Jack. Bye, Salty. | 0:13:15 | 0:13:18
GULL SCREECHES | 0:13:22 | 0:13:26
(SHE SIGHS) Seagulls! | 0:13:29 | 0:13:32
Well, Salty, that's it for today. | 0:13:35 | 0:13:38
We'll see all our friends again next time. | 0:13:38 | 0:13:40
Oh, and we'll see you next time as well. | 0:13:40 | 0:13:45
Bye-bye. | 0:13:45 | 0:13:47
Come on, girl. | 0:13:47 | 0:13:49
