Whose family are we going to meet today?

Raphael and Eli's.

Raphael is five, Eli is three and they're brothers.

They live with their mum, dad and little sister Suki

on the edge of the city.

I wonder what they're up to today.

This morning, Raphael, Eli

and the family are off to pick some fresh vegetables.

THEY SHOUT

The vegetables are in an allotment, that's a bit like a garden.

This one belongs to the family's neighbour Judy.

And she has grown all sorts of things.

-Hello, Judy.

-Hi there.

-We've come to help.

-Have you come to help today?

-We have, haven't we, boys?

-Do you know what they are?

-Cucumber.

It's a courgette, actually, but it looks like a cucumber.

-Who likes courgette?

-Not me.

-You do, don't you, Raphael?

To pull vegetables you've got to be very strong.

Who can show me their muscles? Have you got strong muscles?

I wonder what they'll find first.

-ALL:

-Whoa!

-It's a beetroot.

-THEY GASP

-Eli.

-I told you I was strong.

-You told us you were strong, you're right.

-Oh, that's a big one.

Oh, look at that one.

It's massive.

THEY LAUGH

That vegetable is called a butternut squash.

Whoa!

I picked this for you, Suki.

Whoa, thank you, Eli.

It's so heavy, I can't even hold it.

-Come on, come on.

-Oh, yummy.

Suki will be looking forward to having some butternut squash

for her tea.

-Thank you, Eli.

-Raphael is going to give it a go.

Raphael is pushing the wheelbarrow.

-I'm stronger.

-You're stronger? Go on, then, you show us.

They're digging holes to plant onions.

Pop them in and cover them up.

To help the vegetables grow, first, Raphael waters them.

I want you to grow like a giant.

And then, Eli talks to them.

-Whoa, how big is he?

He's enormous, isn't he?

-HE GASPS

-Look at that.

-Oh, what creature is that?

-That's a beetle.

I don't think it's a beetle. Is it a woodlouse?

-Yeah, look at that.

-Look at him run.

-And another one, two wriggly worms.

That must be the mummy one.

We could call the baby one Suki.

-We could call the baby one Suki.

-No, we can call him Frank.

-Frank, great name.

-Fred!

Frank and Fred the worms. Pleased to meet you.

We've got some lovely things there. Let's go and see what we can make.

The family has taken the freshly picked beetroot home.

Eli and Raphael are getting ready to make something special.

Cook's hats and aprons on.

-I'm a chef.

-I'm the biggest, so I'm the chef.

-Are you?

-No, I'm the chef.

Why don't you both be chefs?

-Right, are we all ready, chefs?

-Yeah!

So, chefs, what dish are you going to make with the beetroot?

Beetroot chocolate brownies!

"Beetroot chocolate brownies?" Oh, I hope you know the recipe.

Mum helps with the peeling and chopping.

Yay!

Look at that. Wow.

Don't touch me, please.

Argh!

You've got purple beetroot juice all over your hands, boys.

I'm holding your arms.

It's time to add some more ingredients.

Chocolate that needs to be gently broken up.

HE SINGS TO HIMSELF

Now your hands are covered in beetroot and chocolate.

Beetroot chocolate hands! Yum!

Next, it's three eggs.

Whoops! Whoopsies.

SHE LAUGHS

Raphael does the stirring.

What does look it like when you're stirring it?

Cool. It looks like a jelly.

Jelly? I hope it's jelly.

-Oh, yeah.

ELI GASPS

Eli does the singing.

Oh, it looks like not all of the chocolate chips

are finding their way into the bowl.

-Chocolate!

-Ooh!

The mixture is ready.

Into the baking tins.

Add some chocolate chips

and they're ready for the oven.

See you in a minute. I want to eat you right now.

It'll take a little while to bake, Eli.

Dad has a great idea for something else the boys can do.

We're going to make a robot. What does that look like, Eli?

-Nothing.

-What does it look like?

-Eyes.

-It looks like eyes, doesn't it?

-Could that be the robot's head, do you think?

-No.

No?! But it's got eyes in it.

-Shall we make a body out of this?

-Yeah.

I want to draw on paper.

Raphael is making the body.

Yeah, shall we wrap him up in foil, so he looks like a robot?

-Yeah.

-Does that look good? Yeah?

Eli tests the robot's movements.

And Dad puts the different parts together.

Shall we try and put a light on his head?

A light for the eyes, good idea.

Now, that's too heavy for his head.

Shall we get one of the... Ooh!

Whoops! Good catch, Raphael.

-Do you think those make good arms?

-Yeah.

-Do you think so?

That looks like a cheese man.

What?!

We don't want to get this on your fingers.

You've got it on my fingers.

That's a good way to make robot hands.

Shall we see?

-That's a big hand.

-Argh!

-Oh, no!

Some finishing touches and the robot's nearly ready.

He's got big hands, hasn't he?

DAD LAUGHS

What've you made?

-A robot.

-That is super cool. Wow, he's...

What are we going to call him?

OK, Mr D2, show us what you can do.

-He wants to look around.

-HE IMITATES ROBOT VOICE:

The beetroot chocolate brownies are ready.

-Here you go, Daddy!

-Ooh!

-Look at these, Daddy.

-They look lovely.

These are our beetroot and chocolate brownies.

-Which one for Daddy, do you think, boys?

-That one!

-Maybe this one.

-Oh, OK.

-Yeah, it's got nice chocolate bits on it.

-Yeah.

So, how do they taste?

Mm! Very yummy.

They're nice and soft inside, aren't they?

-Suki!

-Oh, you've got some.

-Can you taste the beetroot, Eli?

-Does it taste nice and chocolaty?

-I can just taste the chocolate.

-I want to eat them every day.

We'll have to go to the allotment every day then.

Suki helps herself.
