Today, Emerson Maude joins the Prank Patrol. His mission,

to make his mate Jodie believe that our ghostly goings-on are real.

Prank Patrol is going for a smashing day out at the museum,

but will our prank run supernaturally well,

or will Jodie see right through us?

It's time to exhibit another outrageous prank.

Meet our newest prankster, 10-year-old Emerson Maude.

Emerson is an absolute football nut,

but he doesn't like to play outside when it rains.

When he grows up, he'd like to be a policeman. Hello, hello, hello.

Or an astronaut. But first, he's got some pranking on earth to do.

Here we go.

Welcome to the Prank Van, where the magic happens,

-but who are we are pranking?

-Jodie.

Well, she's always playing tricks on me.

Like at one New Year's Eve party, she absolutely soaked me.

I'm going to get revenge on her.

Revenge is my favourite word.

We can't have you getting soaked by your best friend!

But before we talk about the prank,

let's check ninja surveillance to see what we're dealing with.

Emerson has been mates with Jodie for four years.

Jodie is a drama queen who enjoys singing, acting and performing.

Thy play together on their games consoles.

Jodie always tries to get the upper hand,

but I don't think she will when she takes on the Prank Patrol.

Now, she is known as ripe for the pranking.

Have you thought of anything?

She's scared of ghosts, so something ghoulish.

The classic Hungarian delicacy, always a winner.

No, that's GOULASH.

Yes. OK, so we've got a scary prank.

I like scary pranks. That's that box ticked. What else can we do?

It needs to be embarrassing. How can we embarrass Jodie?

She could break a priceless vase.

Beautiful.

Yes, she could break a priceless vase. That's always a winner.

OK, so we have a ghostie prank,

-an embarrassing prank, where could we do this?

-In a museum.

If we're going to scare her, let's get a ghost in there.

How about if we get her to talk somebody at the museum

and using camera trickery, we can get rid of that person

out of the shot so it looks like Jodie is talking to nothing?

And the guy who she talks to is on one of the pictures.

So she sees the picture of the guy she was talking to,

who wasn't there because he was a ghost,

and then comes crashing through the canvas.

This is a top prank.

-Now, I think you know what to do.

a spooky 19th-century ghost,

add a priceless, but soon to be smashed, Roman vase,

one disbelieving security guard, a ghostly message,

and for good measure, yours truly making a bit of an entrance.

Welcome to the art department. This is Natalie and Zahid.

-Hi, Barney.

-Emerson.

-Hi, Emerson.

Now, the ninjas have told you we need a picture

of a guy who is going to be our ghost.

He looks about 100 years old. How's it going?

Yeah, it's going well. We arranged a photo shoot

with one of our Prank Patrol actors, and Zahid will show you the process.

-Hi.

-This is the image we got from our photo shoot.

We dropped it into an editing software,

removed the background and then dropped in this dark green colour.

We use filters for the shadow and the highlight,

and painted into it like you would with a paintbrush,

and that's the final result.

-Cool.

-How do you get the picture to disappear?

Jodie is going to be speaking to this guy

-so he has to disappear.

-Glad you mentioned that.

We traced around him, then removed him from the picture

and then painted in.

That's clever. I like that.

-It is.

-OK, so how do you take that picture on there

and turn it into a big canvas to go into a museum?

We've dropped the images on to a CD.

The ninjas printed it out onto a life-sized canvas.

-Here are the results.

-Brilliant.

-It's exciting, isn't it?

-Yeah.

Wow!

-That's massive.

-It's huge, isn't it?!

-Is that the final canvas?

-A few finishing touches.

We need to varnish it to make it look old.

You can help me with it now.

The painting is brilliant. It's much bigger than I expected it to be.

This is looking cool, Barn.

I'm most looking forward to when Barney jumps through the painting

and I just hope she does a massive scream, so I can tell everyone.

-OK. I'm nearly done up here, how about you guys?

-Et voila. Canvas done, are you happy?

Now, we're going to see some great pictures of our unsuspecting public,

courtesy of the ninjas. Take a look.

I don't think they're going to want to see those pictures

-any time soon.

-No, I wouldn't either.

We could use the help of our visual effects expert

who lives in the tech area. He's called Matt.

Don't be alarmed, he does live in a very, very dark room.

Why-y-y-y-y?!

-Hi, Barney.

-This is Emerson.

-Hi, Emerson.

Tell him what you need.

We need to make it look like someone's disappeared.

So Jodie, who we're pranking, thinks that she's been talking to a ghost.

-Let's do it.

-Wicked.

The ninjas told me what you're doing,

so we've done some filming to make this work.

These two ninjas are going to be the ghost and Jodie.

So this is the museum scene. So, Jodie, ghost, OK.

We take the ninjas out of the shot and just film the background.

Now, this is the cool bit.

Mix the two together, using a white,

and create our very special ghost Prank Patrol ghost effect.

-And there it is. That's awesome, isn't it?

-That is ace.

Excellent. We'll leave you to it. Thank you.

We'll get ready for our prank, and here's one you can do at home.

Here's a prank that will make you smile, literally.

Here's how. Take an orange, cut it into sections, eat the fruit

and cut notches into the peel.

Slide the peel under your upper lip

with the white side facing out

and voila,

instant goofy smile.

-Amuse your friends, or scare them...

-Aggh!

..with some creepy jagged teeth.

Now, "orange" you glad I showed you how to do that?

Doh?

What?!

So, here we are, Emerson.

Prank location. What does that say?

-Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

-That's where the prank will be.

The ninjas have picked this place

as there is a little bit of history with ghosts -

perfect for what we need.

They've also given us free reign of the museum just for the prank.

-That's ace.

-Is Jodie going to fall for it?

-Without a doubt.

-Less talk, more walk.

Emerson, this is the room where your prank is going to happen.

A few things to talk about - the three things to sort out.

-The canvas.

-The canvas with the ghost in it.

-The artwork.

-The artwork you and Jodie were going to do, yep.

-And the...

-Vase?

-Which is going to smash everywhere.

This area may be a good place to do the canvas.

It's massive, you and Jodie can do some artwork here.

What about the vases?

-What about over here?

-Yeah. OK.

Nice empty space for the vase to smash in and make a real mess.

-Perfect.

-The pictures - there's one here, and one on that side.

We thought we'd put the canvas in the middle.

-It blends in it with it.

-Yeah.

-They can build a front to hide it.

And I can hide behind the canvas, that's the whole point.

-What's going to be on our canvas?

-A ghost.

Who is going to talk to Jodie right here.

That security camera is the thing that will record that.

-When Jodie looks at it, what will she see?

-No ghost.

No ghost in the footage. Matt showed us how to do it. Clever stuff.

-When she comes to look at the canvas, what will happen?

-It's gone.

It's gone. No ghost.

When she looks closely, I'll punch through the canvas

and give her the prank of her life. Sound good?

because it wasn't ready for the prank. As you can see, it now is.

All of the props are in place and the hidden cameras.

There's one here in reflective glass,

one hidden in the flower and another one over there.

The cameras are set to record Jodie's face.

Now, David is the actor playing the ghost. He's the guy in the portrait.

Good to see you. This is Emerson.

-How are you feeling about the prank?

-Well, a wonderful prank.

-It could be one of the best.

-She's going to be shocked.

-Oh, yes, yes.

-Any questions for David?

-No, he isn't here.

Good point, you're a ghost. Into position.

Jodie's nearly here. Thanks, David. Over here, the Roman vases are set.

They're made out of wax so when they fall over,

they're going to smash everywhere. This prank is going to be smashing.

That's the second time I've used that joke. Moving on.

This is our security room.

This is where Jodie will see the footage of her talking to a ghost.

As always, we've had some top helping.

This is Rob, our security guard.

He'll keep a vigilant eye over all the action today.

Isn't that right, Rob?

-How are you doing? Back to work, please, if you would.

Now, these mirrored glasses have got cameras behind them.

This will capture Jodie's face when she thinks she's seen a ghost.

Will she fall for this?

-Without a doubt.

-Ninjas, hide the van.

she is about to be seriously spooked by the Prank Patrol.

This is where we set up a canvas.

It's an unusual set-up because you've got

a good hour to sit down. If you want to sit down here, Jodie.

Emerson, if you can sit over there.

What we're looking for is a reflection of the kind of art

that will reflect Salford. I'll leave you to it, you can't go wrong,

just have some fun on the canvas.

to show the video of Jodie's ghostly conversation.

First, the ninjas need to remove the ghost

so it looks like Jodie has been talking to thin air.

Rob's doing his best to stall them, but they're on their way!

We've added a message at the bottom

which can only be seen under UV light.

It's complete gibberish, but it will get Jodie nice and close up

for when I burst out.

Yeah, we are. So, now, it's time for the grand finale.

Emerson knew about the prank

He was a ghost. He's actually an actor. Rob's an actor as well.

He is an old friend of Prank Patrol.

My heart's still going from him coming through, that was terrifying!

It went fast. That was brilliant. So, we got you.

Well and truly pranked, there. Well done.

-A round of applause for Jodie, everybody.

-APPLAUSE

I loved the prank, it was ace. Jodie's reaction was priceless.

When I saw the portrait and he said, "Did he look like this?"

And I'm like, "Yeah, an awful lot, yeah." So, he went...

-He's been dead for years.

-And I'm, like, "What's going on here?"

Favourite part of the prank? That's easy, right there.

I've never jumped through canvas so I just launched myself

and it made a terrifying sound, as Jodie and Emerson discovered.

They both screamed. He knew it was coming!

I was really scared, I didn't expect him to come through that fast.

I thought he'd do it quite slow.

I was really happy that I was on Prank Patrol.

I'd always wanted to be on,

but I never presumed that today would be the day.

That's got to be the best reaction we've had on Prank Patrol, Jodie.

-Are you OK?

-Yeah.

-Are you a smiling person?

-Yeah.

-That's good.

And who knows? Soon, you could be on Prank Patrol.
