The Wildcats' Quest Begins Raven

Many moons ago, with the forging of six golden symbols,

magic returned to this land.

But with it came the evil sorcerer Nevar,

intent on taking this power for himself.

I stood against Nevar as the land's protector,

training the ultimate champions.

When the day came,

together, we defeated Nevar in the ultimate battle.

But, knowing my power,

Nevar had forged golden symbols of his own

and the spell that was cast to banish him reflected back,

sending us both to a far-off, desolate realm.

With the battle fought,

only one champion feared the return of Nevar and his demons.

This warrior sought out the golden symbols lost in the battle,

and, finding them, discovered my staff of power.

Its magic transformed her into the new protector of this land.

Now, it is her task to find the true warriors

to defeat Nevar and save us from his evil.

16 of the bravest and most worthy have answered my call.

Which of them will conquer the challenges?

Who will reach the Grand Tournament

and be named as a true warrior?

Nevar's evil sorcery has allowed his demons through into our land,

but there are a few who have the strength and courage to battle them.

Two groups of warriors have braved the journey here so far.

Two warriors have conquered the Last Stand

and found their place in the Grand Tournament.

Now comes the third group.

If the warriors are to face these challenges,

they must reach the warriors' banners.

But Nevar's demons are almost upon them.

They must make it to the shore and unravel their banners.

If the demons catch the warriors,

their quest will end before it begins.

They must work together now to defeat these demons.

and I'm looking forward to the water challenges.

I'm Teeja.

I will call on the spirit of the wildcat to help in my quest.

I think I've got what it takes to become a true warrior.

I listened to the stories of Raven defeating Nevar,

and now I will be part of those tales.

have the skills to reach the Grand Tournament.

You have travelled far and overcome much to reach here.

But, though you beat Nevar's demons to the shore,

your quest has only just begun.

From this moment, you are competing against your fellow warriors

for the chance to become a true warrior.

For some, the journey will end soon and you will return home.

For others, the road will lead to the Last Stand...

..the legendary trial that crowns this heat's challenges.

And it is only the warrior that conquers this race

who will go through to the final Grand Tournament.

Your chances of success will be determined

by your hoard of treasure rings.

Forged from ancient gold and protected by magic,

these treasures determine your fate.

You start with six rings.

Succeed in the challenges

and you will earn more.

Suffer defeat and you lose them.

Every ring counts,

for the warrior with the lowest number of rings

will leave this quest first,

and the warrior with the most

will have the greatest chance in the Last Stand.

Nevar and his demons pursue us still.

The quest to become a true warrior begins now.

you must pass through the gates in that fortified palisade.

You must use that battering ram

to break through the gates to reach safety.

No warrior can do this alone,

so you must work together to move that mighty machine to the gate

to break your way through.

But not all is danger here.

Look up and you will see golden treasure rings

to be collected along the way,

and more await once you've passed through the gate.

but these warriors are not safe until they've passed the gate.

The warriors must use their strength to smash through the gate

and reveal the portal.

The warriors can escape and claim a further ring.

-Yeah!

-Whoo!

-Yeah!

When we won the battering ram, it was a great feeling,

because fighting off the demon was a great achievement.

When the demon was chasing us, it was scary,

but, as long as we knew where he was,

we could just keep going forwards.

The most challenging part was probably making sure

that it was all lined up so that you didn't go squint,

cos it was quite easy to go squint.

When we smashed through the door, it was a great achievement,

because we smashed through wood

and it was really hard.

For their success in reaching the portal,

they each gain four rings to add to their treasure hoards,

taking each warrior to ten.

They worked well as a team,

but now they must challenge each other to win rings for themselves.

We cannot rest for long, as Nevar's demons roam this land.

They lurk where we might not see them,

so we must move with haste on to the next challenge.

We must make our way to the Demon Causeway.

Before you stands the perilous way known to all who must pass

over it as the Demon Causeway.

Around this path hangs golden treasure rings,

but taking them is fraught with danger.

To reach the rings, you must construct a causeway above it.

It may sound straightforward

but nothing is simple when Nevar's

perfidious mind is involved.

The demons will pursue you as soon as the challenge begins.

Should they reach you, or if you touch the ground,

or fail to reach the last ring,

then you will face the demons' wrath

and lose a precious ring from your hoard.

Rygo, Teeja - you will form one team.

Janra, Saris - you will be the second team.

Both teams will take on this challenge simultaneously,

but only one team can emerge victorious.

Warriors, are you ready to face the Demon Causeway?

-ALL:

Then step forward and let the challenge...begin.

The warriors must communicate and trust in each other.

One wrong move will awaken the demons.

Get this one back up. You wait...

This challenge tests both speed and agility.

The warriors can navigate their own way through the course,

claiming any treasure rings they pass,

but winning this challenge is the only way to keep this treasure.

Reaching the last ring will claim victory.

gathering their first ring.

but one slip here could be the difference

between victory and defeat.

Defeat for Rygo and Teeja sees them fall to the demons' gaze.

Victory for Janra and Saris.

The challenging part of Demon Causeway

was keeping the communication together,

cos we had to talk to each other. And, then, we had to use the planks,

and sometimes we didn't know which way to go.

The tactics we used to win the game were communication and making sure

that we weren't too far ahead of each other.

It felt good to win the challenge,

cos I knew that we were working well together.

-BOTH:

Rygo and Teeja, I bring you back from Nevar's realm.

I found Demon's Causeway very challenging,

because we had to use the right wooden planks

to get over to the other side.

We did really well on our teamwork and we talked to each other

really well, but I think we just

needed to go a wee bit faster, maybe.

For claiming victory,

Janra and Saris keep the treasure they gathered along the way.

Each gain four rings, taking their totals to 14.

Teeja and Rygo's defeat comes at the cost of a precious gold ring

from each of their hoard.

Their total now stands at nine rings.

Welcome, warriors.

It seems we are free of Nevar's demons,

and can take the opportunity to add more rings to your hoard.

There, above the water, hang precious rings.

To reach them, you must demonstrate agility, balance and nerve.

You do not have to take the rings.

All you must do is reach the end of the tree trunk

and jump for the final ring.

But you know how precious these rings are to your chances.

Will you take the risk needed to take them?

For, if you fall off the tree, or miss the final ring,

you will forfeit a ring from your hoard.

Do you risk the plunge into the pool to take the treasure,

or do you try a safer line and lose the chance to gain these rings?

As a young warrior, I braved this challenge.

It is tough. Teeja must concentrate.

Keeping her balance is key.

The beam shakes with every move the warrior makes.

Teeja must concentrate.

One lapse and she will fall into the icy water.

You must aim for the last ring.

With two rings, Teeja is showing promise,

but, if she fails to claim the last ring,

she will forfeit those she has gathered

and a further ring from her hoard.

A lapse in concentration and Teeja plunges into the icy waters.

When I first went out on the beam, I was quite nervous

because of how thin it was

and also because, when you looked down,

the water was so deep. I didn't think it would be that deep.

Saris, are you ready to take the plunge?

-Yes, Raven!

-Then go forth, my young warrior.

Saris is the next warrior to brave the Pool Plunge.

Saris displays her agility on this treacherous beam.

With balance and determination,

Saris has taken the first ring.

The ring is dropped and lost to the river below.

She must keep her focus.

It is the final ring that will decide her fate.

Stay calm, warriors.

The leap is made, but the ring is missed.

When I grabbed the second ring, it plopped into the water.

It was a bit more difficult because, like,

we had to grab the ring from underneath it.

I felt a bit gutted.

Janra, are you ready to face this challenge?

Yes, Raven!

Then may the luck of the Raven's Eye be with you.

Janra has gathered the first ring.

This warrior seems amused -

a strange emotion for such a precarious position.

Courage, warrior.

You can face this challenge.

Janra comes close, but coming close offers treasure to no warrior.

The beam was quite shaky to start with,

but, once you got used to how to balance yourself, it was fine.

But I was quite annoyed that I missed the last ring.

Rygo, are you ready to face this challenge?

Yes, Raven.

Then go forth.

Rygo is the final warrior to face the Pool Plunge.

Can he succeed where his fellow Wildcats failed?

Nevar has bound this ring tight.

Rygo deems it a risk not worth taking.

A brave performance, but Rygo needs all his strength

to balance on the beam.

Rygo has gathered a ring, but unless he claims the last one,

this will count for nothing.

Be brave, warrior.

Unfortunately for Rygo,

his determination does not reap a reward.

That quest was very hard -

the hardest one I've faced yet, by far.

Nobody's done it, so I wasn't that unhappy about it.

Pool Plunge proved too difficult a challenge for the warriors.

Each must now sacrifice a golden treasure ring.

Rygo and Teeja both trail with eight rings,

while, with 13 rings each,

Janra and Saris boast a lead over their fellow warriors.

Warriors, you all took on this daunting challenge,

but though you walk away without any rings,

you must take pride in your attempt.

You have reached the end of today's journey.

You have battled Nevar's demons and outwitted them.

You have gathered treasure rings

and tested your skills against these challenges.

All four of you have proven to be both determined and

courageous. Now, you must rest,

for on the sun setting tomorrow,

the warrior with the fewest rings

will leave this quest and return home.

Gather your strength, for tomorrow the challenges will begin again.
