Last time, Elevate and The Sweets made it onto the leaderboard.

Will today's groups finish in the top five

and cement their place in the semi-final?

This is Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012.

Please welcome your hosts, Sam and Mark.

Hello, and welcome to our talent search

for the UK's best young glee club, all in aid of Sport Relief.

We've been up and down the country, to every nook and cranny,

auditioning hundreds of acts from the Isle of Wight to Stirling.

We were blown away by the talent, but only the top 24 acts have the chance

to perform right here on this stage in front of our studio audience.

They'll be putting their own twist on some hits

and singing their hearts out, but only one act will win

and take home the title of Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012.

Now, deciding the fate of our glee clubs - our resident expert judges,

who loved the show so much last year, they've only come back for more!

Carrie and David are the UK's best-known vocal coaches.

They've worked with artists like Take That and The Saturdays.

Sisco is an artistic director and choreographer.

He's worked with stars like Cher Lloyd and Kylie Minogue.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

Look at them! Look at them! Lovely people! Welcome back, guys.

You look amazing. Looking forward to today, Carrie?

I'm really looking forward to today, can't wait to get to see the talent.

-Oh, yeah. David?

-I am expecting to be impressed.

-We've done the auditions

-and now we're ready to see some action on stage.

-Oh, I like it!

Oh, that got me all excited! OK, now for the important bit.

24 groups have made it through to the heats.

Today, three of those acts will battle it out for our experts,

who will be scoring them on vocal ability, creativity and performance.

In the unlikely event of a tie, head judge Carrie

will decide who goes through.

The acts with the top five scores across the heats

will then compete in the live finals,

where it will be up to you at home to vote for your favourite.

And the winners will take home this fantastic

Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012 trophy.

OK, enough of the business side of things.

We have three glee clubs waiting nervously backstage,

so let's meet them.

Today's groups were shortlisted by our expert judges from auditions

around the UK and given advice on how to improve their performances.

ALL: We're The Tempests and we're from Sussex!

We're so excited. We all do musical theatre,

and it's completely different to telly, so, yeah, really excited.

Expect the unexpected, that's all I'm saying!

ALL: We're CM1 and we're from Essex.

I can't possibly put it into words how excited we all are feeling.

-You'll be begging for more.

-Yeah.

-You will.

ALL: We are The Real Deal from East London! Whoo!

It's not every day we get to come and do this sort of thing.

We're fulfilling our dream already.

Welcome, guys, lovely to have you on the show.

You all look really nervous. Don't be, don't be. You'll be brilliant.

Let's find out about your first challenge.

Round One - Singing Together.

All group members must sing at the same time.

Points will be deducted for any featured vocals.

-Sounds like a challenge to me.

-Yeah, singing together, for Round One,

a song from one of my favourite artists.

-No, Coldplay's Viva La Vida.

-Ah.

-Well done, guys, fantastic start to the show.

Shall we see what the judges thought?

-All go, "Yes, yes, please!"

-Carrie, what did you think to the vocals?

I'm actually going to go backwards.

The Real Deal, we asked you to sing better in your unison singing,

and you really have pulled that off.

However, there was a bit of solo singing in there,

and we did say in this round, no solo singing.

Unison singing - very good, though.

For our guys in the middle here,

the blending needed to come through a little more, the voices together,

but there's something very raw about you that I really like.

And as for The Tempests, so rehearsed,

unison singing - amazing, harmony coming across as one big voice,

which is just what you're looking for.

OK. Sisco, were you entertained there?

I was entertained. What it is, it must be so nerve-wracking

when the competition's on stage with you,

so I think you all dealt with it very well.

But I think that all of you have your fortes, which is good,

so it's going to be an interesting one.

Difficult. Let's see what the judges thought.

Now, David, did any of the groups

stand out and manage to make the song their own?

The purpose of this round is to show, for each individual glee club,

who the soloists are, who can stand out and who can deliver.

And one of them really did it exceptionally well.

OK, and Carrie, how difficult is it to be a featured vocalist?

It's really difficult and I think that we've seen

how difficult it is with the three groups.

I didn't feel like I heard soloists, particularly in The Tempests.

In our middle group, I heard too many.

There were weak links and strong links. Stick to your strengths.

The Real Deal?

That was a masterclass in soloists. Amazing.

scoring our glee clubs on vocal ability, creativity and performance.

Round three is the last chance to deliver a stand-out performance.

For me, it's between The Tempests and The Real Deal.

The Tempests, there's raw talent there,

it's very good, you look great

and it's polished, but no strong soloist.

The Real Deal, raw talent, awesome soloist,

it's unpolished, so it's quite difficult.
