And welcome to our quest to find Britain's ultimate young Glee Club.

We've auditioned hundreds of brilliant performers across the UK

-and the standard was breathtaking.

-He's right - breathtaking.

24 of the best acts have been invited to strut their stuff

on this very stage,

and they'll be performing plenty of pop hits for you at home.

But who has got what it takes to survive

and be crowned the winners of Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012?

Our panel of expert judges have the power to decide

who will make it through to the next stage. And here they are.

'Carrie and David are the UK's best known vocal coaches.

'They've worked with artists like Take That and The Saturdays.

'Sisco is an artistic director and choreographer.

'He's worked with stars like Cher Lloyd and Kylie Minogue.'

Hello. Tell me, today, are you going to be nice judges or nasty judges?

Hmm, well, we'll be celebrating the good and critiquing the not so good.

Interesting.

-We'd best be good, then.

-Yeah!

Thank you. Now, listen up, because this is the important part.

24 groups have made it through to the heats.

Today, three of those acts will battle it out for our experts,

who will be scoring them on vocal ability, creativity and performance.

In the unlikely event of a tie,

head judge Carrie will decide who goes through.

The acts with the top five scores across the heats

will then compete in the live finals

where it will be up to YOU at home to vote for your favourite.

And the winners will take home this fantastic

Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012 trophy.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

We love a good trophy, us.

-We will give it a polish, though.

-Obviously.

Our Glee Clubs are ready and raring to go, so let's meet them.

'And here are our three glee clubs competing today.

'They were selected by our judges from auditions all over the UK

'and given feedback on areas to work on.'

-ALL:

-We're Serenade and we're from Preston. Whoo!

-We've all got varied qualities.

-We're all different personalities.

-We all mess around together.

-We all know how to get each other laughing.

Definitely these two.

ALL: Hi, we're The Sweets and we're from Essex. Whoo!

We've been counting down the days until we came,

so it's really exciting.

We would describe ourselves as a fresh mini version of The Saturdays.

-ALL:

-Hi, we're Elevate and we're from County Durham. Whoo!

It's just amazing.

I don't think excited is the word. We're ecstatic.

We're really connected so we'll feel each other's energy

-and that'll help us perform.

-We're cool. And connected.

Wow! I tell you what, guys.

I don't mind saying I got goosebumps at the end of that.

Fantastic. What did the judges think? Carrie?

I loved it, and how we've got three different sized groups.

It makes our judging really challenging.

Our first group, Serenade.

Really lovely unison sound, but you look a bit terrified.

Just lighten up on the faces, but the sound is really good.

Our middle group, The Sweets. Really nice and confident

in the way that our first group weren't.

But there was a bit of soloing in there, which we shouldn't have had.

And our final group, Elevate. You look like a glee club.

I think that was a real courageous thing to do.

You chose to go for an individual sound, like a soloist sound,

but you made it sound really good as a group, so I'm impressed.

There is another challenge on its way - it's Round 2.

The groups will each perform a different song,

featuring at least one solo vocal.

Thanks, Mr D. The songs in this round will be from the pop genre.

Not a lot of people know this, but pop - short for popular music -

originated as a distinctive genre in the 1950s. Fact.

-David, was that the standard you were expecting?

-Yeah, it was.

I have to say that, Serenade,

you were really good.

I liked the fact that each of you sang

and there were some really good voices in there.

You need to be careful with the end harmony,

but this is about the solo voices

and you gave everybody a shot.

You guys had the hardest job.

One of the most popular songs recently -

a million and one covers, you kind of get bored with it.

I thought you did it really well. You made it sound really fresh.

APPLAUSE

You handled it sensitively. Well done.

Elevate, I thought you guys were really good,

but I needed to hear more of the solo singer.

You didn't play to the strength of the fact that this section

is about the solo singer -

there wasn't enough solo in it for me, sadly.

Sisco, any of the soloists stand out for you?

Yeah, definitely. On Serenade, the blonde lady,

definitely, your voice was great and I wish you sang more.

APPLAUSE

I believe that... I'm going to slightly disagree with David.

I don't think that everyone was a soloist,

but definitely your voice stuck out for me.

Now, remember our judges have been scoring our glee clubs

on vocal ability, creativity and performance.

at the overall scores and see who's currently in the lead.

But with another 90 points available to each group in the last round,

Round 3 is the last opportunity

for our groups to deliver a stand-out performance.

They need to score as many points as they can to secure a top spot

on the Glee Club leaderboard.

Remember, only the top five from the heats will go through

to the live finals.

in their final chance to build those all-important points.

Sisco, how difficult has it been for our groups to sing and dance?

It's very difficult. Maybe what people don't realise

is stamina, breathing techniques,

and also control,

because we can't have the moves overpower the vocal,

so it's extremely hard and you all did very well.

What has made today's contest so tight and so difficult to call

is that no one group dominated all the events.

The Sweets had bags of personality jumping out, very good.

Then Elevate, very good but a little inconsistent.

But when you're great, you're really great.

So it's hard, very hard.

..with a total score of 142,

it's Elevate!
