It's our best bits.

As well as looking back at some of our favourite bits,

we'll be flying high with some never-seen-before exclusives.

And taking a look at when things didn't always go to plan.

And most importantly, we've built loads of amazing dens.

Oh, my gosh, it's amazing.

We had thousands of applications for this series.

That is a lot of wannabe Dengineers.

And surprising our lucky ten to tell them they were going to be

getting their dream den was a tricky job.

I tell you what, you lot are clever, you know.

Yeah, there were a few times when we almost got caught, but, luckily,

we were able to keep the secret and deliver the good news

-to our Dengineers.

-That's what we do.

Before a Dengineers hit can go down,

we need to set up our super-sneaky hidden cameras.

But sometimes, they're not quite hidden enough for our eagle-eyed

Dengineers, like when we went to surprise

superstar DJ Joshua at his home in Cardiff.

Oh, Daddy's friend came round this morning,

he's thinking of doing some security system.

-Who's in?

-I don't know.

-LAUREN:

-Good save, Mum.

And that's not the only close shave we've had on this series of

The Dengineers.

(That was close.)

It's fine, it's fine.

After all the sneaking around is done,

it's surprise time, and we have had some belters this year.

-Hello!

-Hello!

How are you doing?

If this series has taught us anything,

it's that surprised faces come in a range of styles.

Surprise!

Eleanor, how are you?

There's the "smiley surprise" face.

The "is this actually happening?" face.

No, this isn't true.

And don't forget the

"I can't believe Mark and Lauren just popped out of a recycling bin"

face.

But the title of most shocked-face of the series goes to Lola

when we surprised her at school.

We're here to tell you - yes, you, Lola -

that you're going to be building your very own

dream Hollywood cinema den.

Oh, I tell you what,

it's nice to be able to just sit back and relax sometimes, isn't it?

Do you know what, it is pretty good, isn't it?

But it's not always like this.

There has been some serious graft on The Dengineers.

Yeah, you're right. Hard-working bunch, the old Dengineers.

-Oh, yeah.

-Salt or sweet, Loz?

Oh, I'll go for salted please, I think.

Wa-ha-ha!

SHE LAUGHS WEAKLY

Our Dengineers team work mega-hard from the second they arrive on-site.

Dengineers have landed.

And when the build gets going, no job is too big for the Dengineers.

We've said "see you later" to a ceiling.

It's coming. Yes!

Woo!

APPLAUSE

We've carried a roof weighing over 220kg around a house...

-LAUREN:

-Watch this corner here, though - it's really, really tight.

..through a garden, and up onto the structure of a den.

But the biggest challenge of the series was in Manchester,

when the Dengineers had to dig up not one,

but two sections of a community centre.

The team started by ripping up the ground in one area of the build

and digging a massive hole in another.

And the result of all this hard graft was the creation of an amazing

running track and an awesome sunken trampoline.

And the hard work doesn't stop there.

The Dengineers team only have four days on-site to build each den,

so we have to work our socks off every single second.

And there were times this series when we cut it really close

to the wire.

I'm a bit worried, but if Dengineers can't do it, nobody can.

SHE BELLOWS

I'm going to drop it, I'm going to drop it!

And the most dramatic finish of the series was in Cardiff,

where it was a race against time to get Joshua's DJ den done for

the Big Reveal.

This was a huge ask and the whole team had to put in a massive shift,

including me and Loz.

That's it. Perfect.

-LAUREN GRUNTS

Joshua's friends and family arrived at the house and,

despite work still being done on the den,

the team had no choice but to set for the Big Reveal.

But Dengineers work hard and never give up

and we all made one final push for the finish line.

And after a monumental effort, the DJ den was complete.

I tell you what, I'm getting a sweat on just watching that hard work.

We did loads, didn't we?

Oh, we did. It was a hard run, but it's safe to say, along the way,

we had a lot of fun. Wahey! SHE YELPS

Us Dengineers work hard, but we also love to have a laugh.

There we go, right? Here's for a ten.

What Sege lacks in footballing skills, he more than makes up for

on the dance floor.

And he's not the only one who caught the Dengineers Come Dancing bug

this year.

We've seen some brilliant Bollywood moves.

We've seen some less-than-brilliant dad dancing.

And, as you can see, I'm not afraid to throw some shapes, either.

Yeah, I...I've got other talents.

Dancing isn't one of them.

Whilst Lozza was showing her limited skills on the dance floor,

I was showing my prowess with, well, let's just say, a wind instrument.

A lot's been done, to be fair. We got the old chalkboard done.

-Well done.

-Um, did you hear that?

I just farted as I said "chalkboard".

It came out by accident!

And as well as doing all of that really cool stuff,

we met some amazing people along the way.

It's been a celeb-fest on this series of The Dengineers.

We've met superstar names from music, radio,

TV and only, like,

one of the biggest authors in the world.

Yeah, budding writer Eleanor got the surprise of her life when she got to

meet her hero, Jacqueline Wilson.

It's lovely to meet you, sweetheart.

-LAUREN:

-You are getting an actual signed copy

of Jacqueline Wilson's new book.

-How does that sound?

-Sounds amazing.

I don't think Eleanor will forget that experience in a while.

And who can forget Joshua's face

when he found out he was getting

VIP access to his favourite radio station?

around the Radio 1 studios?

but my fave famous meet of the series has to be when Carrie got

VIP tickets to see Jess Glynne perform at Wembley Arena in London.

And our Carrie didn't just get to see her favourite artist

perform live, she also got to meet Jess backstage to tell her about

her amazing gingerbread house den.

It is day one of Whitney's eco-den build and the Dengineers

have arrived. And when they arrive, they arrive in style.

I think I'd better go give them a hand.

And the thing is, even when we get it right, things can still go wrong.

That couldn't have gone any worse.

Thing is, they're all helping each other, I'm here on me own.

We do make a good team, don't we, Lozza?

Yeah, we do, actually. We really do.

And it's great that you don't mind that I beat you

Well, I...I think it's great that you, you know,

you're such a good loser. It's amazing.

Seems to me that you've got some kind of, like, selective memory loss

or something, Mark. Better...better get that checked out, mate, yeah?

'Me and Lozza have pitted our wits against each other at, well,

'pretty much everything this series.'

HE LAUGHS

'But, whatever the challenge, you can be sure of one thing -

'Mark likes to think he's the best.'

'But after months of den building,

'we finally found Mark's Achilles heel.'

There is no better painter on the Dengineers than moi.

Oh.

-Yeah?

Unlucky, Marky boy.

Speaking of challenges,

there's been one this series that has been totally

out of our control...

..the weather.

Yeah, we've had our fair share of rain this year.

We had showers in Surrey when building our plane den.

We had bucket-loads of rain in Manchester on our community den.

And in Cardiff, we had torrential rain storms to contend with

when building Joshua's DJ den.

These downpours threatened to wash out our builds,

but it was in Leeds, at Carrie's gingerbread house den,

where we faced our most dangerous weather challenge.

If the wind gets too strong,

we'll have to just stop doing the shingles today, cos it could

genuinely get quite dangerous.

There's stuff we can still be doing inside,

so we've not really thought about that yet. As you can see,

it's really windy.

Fortunately for the Dengineers, though,

the fierce winds eventually died down

and the team were able to push on.

Building complicated dens

comes with loads of engineering challenges too

and this series, we've had plenty.

We've seen the engineering behind a retractable dome in the style of the

Taj Mahal in India.

We've found out how wind turbines work.

And we've seen how a staircase can support the weight of 20 people

despite looking like it's floating in thin air.

But our favourite engineering explanation had to be on

the plane den when Sege used a couple of bricks and some card

to show me why a curved roof is stronger than a flat one.

This is your flat top - that's not your roof, OK?

But if I place that brick on there...

-Yeah.

-..you can see what happens to it.

-Yeah, yeah.

-Very, very weak.

-Yeah.

-It has no support of its own to speak of, so it just caves in.

However, if I take this card and bend it into an arch,

into the shape of a Nissen hut,

and then I place this half-brick on top.

-Ta-da!

-Magical!

-You see?

-That is really clever.

And that's why an arch is so much stronger.

It's self-supporting.

Ah, that's fascinating.

So that's what it's going to be like on Philip's den.

-Without the half-brick.

-Let's take the bricks away.

-We'll take the bricks away.

-We don't want the bricks.

-That's magical!

-So Philip's den's going to look like that.

-Amazing.

We have made some absolutely brilliant dens this series.

-They have been amazing, haven't they?

-They've been so, so good.

But imagine one great, big, huge,

ultimate den!

Our dream den would have to have the size and scale of our amazing

community den in Manchester.

Well, there's no doubt about it - it's got to get finished.

We're not even going to consider a backup,

we're just going to get it done.

And for the outside of the den,

we'd have to go for the colourful retro exterior

of Soibi's journalism den.

We'd cover the roof in the stylish shingles from

Carrie's gingerbread house den.

CHEERING

And on said roof,

we'd have the solar panels and wind turbine from Whitney's eco-den

to allow our den to make its own electricity.

The inside of our super den would have the laser effect lighting

from Joshua's DJ den.

The mega-cool hidden desk from Eleanor's magical library den.

And the pilot's chair from Philip's plane den.

This den needs extra seating for when our mates come round,

'so we'd take Aaron's magnificent throne from his Bollywood den.'

Oh, this looks ace! Look at that!

And there would deffo be a place for the

humongous projector from Lola's cinema den.

'And last but not least,

'we'd have the awesome trap door from Rufus' adventure den.'

-Hello, trap door!

-Whoa!

Now, that, Lozza, really would be the ultimate dream den.

None of our brilliant dens would have been possible without our

brilliant designers.

Yeah, we've had five of the top creative minds in the world

-working on our dens.

-And, boy, did they do good.

Our five awesome designers have been responsible for producing

some of the most complicated and ambitious builds ever.

You just want it to move that way slightly, towards Greg.

And they each bring a unique style and creativity to their dens.

She's a master of designing huge-scale dens

which make her builds stand out from the crowd.

-What do you reckon?

-It's fantastic.

-You like it?

-Yeah.

-You like the colours?

-Yes.

-Yes!

And Olga's not afraid to take a risk,

as we saw on the journalism den when

she decided to use a material so delicate

that one false move with a drill would spell disaster for the den.

I'm looking a bit worried cos this is the most important part

of the den.

So, literally, every single screw can damage the acrylic and it can

snap. And if it snaps, we have nothing to replace it with.

And when she's not designing and building dens,

our Olga loves to throw some shapes on the dance floor.

This is the best bit.

Next up...

With over 30 years' experience in the building industry,

he's the daddy when it comes to designing dens.

Easy! Easy! Come on, let's get cracking.

Do you think that one needs to go back...?

Sege's attention to detail is legendary,

as we saw with the plane den,

when he combined Philip's two favourite World War II planes

into the den of his dreams.

-Wow!

-You like it?

-This looks incredible!

-It's cool, isn't it?

Sege is a busy man on his builds and likes to keep his energy levels up

whenever possible.

She's an awesome architect who loves to think big with her designs.

I've started looking at your ideas and I've come up with

a woodland theme den.

Maral's got loads of creative flair, as we saw in Lola's cinema den

when she turned a fun photo shoot into personalised film posters

for the outside of the den.

Maral loves getting stuck in, but she also runs a tight ship.

Lauren, you can't be eating all of the popcorn!

Get out!

And last but not least, we've got the tremendous twosome.

The great thing is, it's all made out of recycled materials,

or reclaimed materials.

And the other thing we've done is, we've got a wind turbine

on the corner that captures the wind...

-Oh, yeah!

-..so that will help to power it.

These architects and lecturers have over 40 years' experience designing

amazing structures.

These guys love pushing the boundaries of den building

and showed this with their crooked and wonky designs for Carrie's

gingerbread house den.

I think the wonkiness, like, really paid off.

I think it looks amazing.

Proper wonk factor, innit?

As well as designing some amazing dens,

Tony and Satwinder have also given us some mega LOLs.

This naughty little knob won't go on!

We have absolutely loved building these fantastic dens.
