Let's go!

0:01:390:01:41

-Hi, I'm Jamie.

-And I'm Adam.

0:01:410:01:43

Today, we're going to go looking for fossils.

0:01:430:01:46

BOTH: Let's go!

0:01:460:01:48

-This is Will.

-He knows everything about rocks and fossils

0:01:480:01:52

so he's going to show us how to be fossil hunters.

0:01:520:01:56

Hi, Jamie, hi, Adam. I've got a really special rock.

0:01:570:02:00

-There's something here. Can you see it?

-Is it a footprint?

0:02:000:02:04

It's a footprint? Can you see these footprints here?

0:02:040:02:07

One, two, three toes. They're dinosaur footprints.

0:02:070:02:11

Where do you think it came from?

0:02:110:02:13

The dinosaurs leave the footprints on the beach

0:02:130:02:16

and then they stay there for a long time and turn into this rock.

0:02:160:02:21

That's right, after the dinosaur made it in the soft sand,

0:02:210:02:25

it turned into rock, really deep,

0:02:250:02:27

and ended up in the top of the cliffs in the yellow rocks

0:02:270:02:30

at the top, dropped onto the beach, and we find them as fossils.

0:02:300:02:34

It's 165 million years old.

0:02:340:02:38

We're going to look at fossils from the bottom of the cliff

0:02:380:02:41

that are even older.

0:02:410:02:43

-Can we look for fossils now?

-That's a really good idea.

0:02:480:02:52

I've got special kit for you guys. A bucket each.

0:02:520:02:55

One for you, Adam. One for you as well, Jamie.

0:02:550:02:58

And I've also got a really nice checklist

0:02:580:03:00

with some pictures of the fossils we might find.

0:03:000:03:03

These are the fossils of seashells that used to live in the ocean

0:03:030:03:07

that once covered all of where we are today.

0:03:070:03:10

-Which rocks have fossils in?

-Great question.

0:03:100:03:13

We need to find some of the grey rocks on this page.

0:03:130:03:16

They might have the fossils in them.

0:03:160:03:18

Sometimes outside, but quite often inside.

0:03:180:03:21

If you find any grey rocks with lumps or bumps, funny shapes,

0:03:210:03:24

put them in your bucket and we'll have a look at them.

0:03:240:03:28

-Oh, what have you got, Jamie?

-I found this fossil.

0:03:330:03:36

See the heart shape here? This is one we call a bivalve.

0:03:360:03:39

Can you find bivalve on your checklist, guys?

0:03:390:03:42

Look at this one. This is really nice.

0:03:470:03:49

This is a coiled-up one we call an ammonite.

0:03:490:03:52

You see this one on your tick list?

0:03:520:03:54

When it was alive, a squid lived at this bottom end of the shell,

0:03:540:03:58

swimming around in our ocean.

0:03:580:04:00

Sometimes, some fossils are still hidden inside the rock.

0:04:000:04:04

So can we smash one of them open?

0:04:040:04:06

We could split a rock open, see if there's anything inside?

0:04:060:04:09

-Yeah.

-'Splitting rocks can be dangerous

0:04:090:04:12

'and should only be done by a grown-up.'

0:04:120:04:14

So you see some of the shell here, yeah?

0:04:190:04:21

-Yeah.

-This is the coiled ammonite.

0:04:210:04:24

You can see the coil quite nice on that one, the spiral.

0:04:240:04:27

'We're making notes about what we find.

0:04:270:04:29

'I'm drawing a picture of my fossil.'

0:04:290:04:32

These fossils are belemnites.

0:04:360:04:38

This rock is a bit big to carry off the beach so what can we do?

0:04:380:04:43

Take a picture of it.

0:04:430:04:44

Great idea. Here you go - over to you.

0:04:440:04:47

'Some fossils are in the ground

0:04:480:04:51

'but we can still remember them by taking a photo.

0:04:510:04:55

'And I'm making a rubbing of this fossil.'

0:04:550:04:58

It's time for the best thing about fossil hunting -

0:04:580:05:01

-hot chocolate time! What do you say?

-BOTH: Yeah!

0:05:010:05:05

# The Let's Go Club. #

0:05:080:05:11

Now, it's time to really big up the fun.

0:05:110:05:13

Is the Super-size Showdown!

0:05:130:05:16

CHEERING

0:05:160:05:17

And today's showdown is a dino special.

0:05:180:05:21

It's going to be ROARsome.

0:05:210:05:24

Oh, yes, and our Let's Go-ers getting their teeth into our game

0:05:240:05:28

are fearless. They are Georgia, Imam, Connor and Sophie.

0:05:280:05:32

Give me your best dinosaur faces.

0:05:320:05:35

THEY ROAR

0:05:350:05:36

And on the red team, we have Ethan, Precious, William and Maisie.

0:05:370:05:41

Show us your dino faces.

0:05:410:05:42

THEY ROAR

0:05:420:05:43

The aim is to collect the last four puzzle pieces

0:05:450:05:48

along the course to complete your giant dinosaur picture.

0:05:480:05:52

They can be hidden anywhere on the course,

0:05:520:05:54

and watch out for those dinosaur bones.

0:05:540:05:57

Let's see what you've got to tackle.

0:05:570:05:59

First, slide down Lizzie's Slippery Slide.

0:05:590:06:02

Then search for a puzzle piece inside the giant inflatable maze.

0:06:020:06:06

Next, onto Martin's Messy Muddle.

0:06:060:06:08

And this is definitely my favourite part of the showdown.

0:06:080:06:12

What each team has to do is get through

0:06:120:06:14

these slimy tunnels of gunge,

0:06:140:06:16

but they must not forget the missing puzzle pieces

0:06:160:06:19

on the way through. Once they've done that,

0:06:190:06:22

it is onto Abe's Big Ball Pool Bonanza.

0:06:220:06:25

So dive in and look for the third puzzle piece,

0:06:250:06:28

which will be hidden underneath all of these.

0:06:280:06:31

Once you've got that - Joanna's Jump And Grab.

0:06:310:06:34

You need to reach up and pull the ropes to get the puzzle piece.

0:06:340:06:38

But beware - these buckets are full of slime and confetti.

0:06:380:06:41

The two teams need to work together to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

0:06:410:06:45

The team that does this first are the winners.

0:06:450:06:49

Time to play in a big, big way.

0:06:490:06:52

Are you lot ready?

0:06:520:06:54

CHEERING

0:06:540:06:55

OK. Three, two, one, let's go!

0:06:550:07:00

First down Lizzie's Slippery Slide are the Blues.

0:07:000:07:03

And under, and under. Under you go.

0:07:030:07:06

Find your piece. Come on.

0:07:060:07:09

It's even stevens into Martin's Messy Muddle.

0:07:100:07:13

But the Blues tunnel into the lead.

0:07:180:07:21

But Reds have clawed it back.

0:07:230:07:25

And they leap together into Abe's Big Ball Pool.

0:07:250:07:29

Blues are in front again.

0:07:330:07:35

And that's a giant gunging!

0:07:370:07:41

That's it. But where's the puzzle piece?

0:07:410:07:45

Get your puzzle.

0:07:450:07:46

There's nothing between the teams

0:07:460:07:48

as they race to finish the final jigsaw.

0:07:480:07:51

Who's going to win?

0:07:510:07:52

But the pieces aren't easy to place.

0:07:520:07:55

And the blue team have done it.

0:07:580:08:00

Stop it. We've done it.

0:08:000:08:02

Congratulations!

0:08:020:08:04

The blue team are the winners.

0:08:040:08:07

-Show us your dinosaur faces.

-CHEERING

0:08:070:08:11

Show us your dinosaur face.

0:08:110:08:13

THEY ROAR

0:08:130:08:14

That was a T-rex-rrific showdown.

0:08:140:08:17

Hey, Craig, do-you-think-he-saurus? GROWLING

0:08:170:08:21

-Hello, Let's Go-ers. ALL:

-Hello, Martin.

-Hello.

0:08:230:08:26

Well, I love a good Super-size Showdown.

0:08:260:08:29

0:08:290:08:32

check out the website. It is definitely worth a watch.

0:08:320:08:36

OK, Let's Go-ers, what else do we love at the Let's Go Club?

0:08:360:08:39

-ALL:

-Send-ins.

0:08:390:08:41

You guys definitely know your stuff.

0:08:410:08:44

Let's take a look at some of yours.

0:08:440:08:46

Lots of Let's Go-ers tried our fab fruit feast, including Poppy,

0:08:460:08:51

Melina, Annabel and Cezanne and Austin.

0:08:510:08:54

Here's Taya with her autumn leaf picture.

0:08:540:08:57

She collected the leaves and made it all by herself.

0:08:570:09:00

This is Daniel with his decorated treasure chest,

0:09:000:09:03

ready to keep all his precious things.

0:09:030:09:06

Poppy used egg cartons to make a super spotty caterpillar.

0:09:060:09:11

Zaqvika and sister Naseema made a puppet theatre using lolly sticks.

0:09:110:09:17

Arianna has built her very own zoo

0:09:170:09:20

from lots and lots of building blocks.

0:09:200:09:22

And Thea has been dancing my chicken noodle soup.

0:09:220:09:26

-Chicken noodle soup!

-Cool move.

0:09:260:09:29

Oh, thank you very much. We love seeing what you guys get up to.

0:09:290:09:33

Grab a grown-up, head to the CBeebies website

0:09:330:09:35

and keep sending those send-ins in.

0:09:350:09:39

OK, guys, it's time for a dino quiz.

0:09:390:09:42

-Who's up for it? ALL:

-Me!

0:09:420:09:44

Good. I'll go with the first question.

0:09:440:09:47

What is the fastest dinosaur?

0:09:470:09:49

-Stegosaurus.

-T-rex.

0:09:490:09:52

No. It is actually a PRONTOsaurus.

0:09:520:09:56

THE CHUCKLE Has anyone else got any questions?

0:09:560:09:59

What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?

0:09:590:10:02

No idea. What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?

0:10:020:10:06

A dinoSNORE.

0:10:060:10:07

LAUGHTER

0:10:070:10:09

A dinoSNORE.

0:10:090:10:11

I like that one. That was good.

0:10:110:10:12

-Any more?

-Why did the T-rex wear a plaster?

0:10:120:10:15

No idea. Why did the T-rex wear a plaster?

0:10:150:10:19

Because he had a dinoSORE.

0:10:190:10:21

LAUGHTER

0:10:210:10:22

A dinoSORE.

0:10:220:10:24

Fantastic. That quiz was tricera-tops

0:10:240:10:28

and there's an utterly T-rex-ific clip on the CBeebies website.

0:10:280:10:32

Just click on the Let's Go Club. OK, here are some dino facts.

0:10:320:10:37

Fact fans, today, we're finding out all about dinosaurs.

0:10:380:10:43

Super-sharp claws, gigantic jaws,

0:10:430:10:47

scales and spikes

0:10:470:10:49

and teeth that bite.

0:10:490:10:51

Flying, soaring, plodding, roaring.

0:10:510:10:54

Feathers and horns, some small, some long.

0:10:540:10:59

The fiercest creatures, now gone forever.

0:10:590:11:02

Let's get to those facts.

0:11:020:11:05

First up, nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were.

0:11:050:11:09

I di-know!

0:11:090:11:11

Dinosaur remains have been found in rocks called fossils.

0:11:110:11:15

But their colour didn't keep after being buried in rocks

0:11:150:11:19

for millions of years.

0:11:190:11:20

People weren't alive at the same time as dinosaurs,

0:11:200:11:24

so no-one could take a dino photo to remember their colours.

0:11:240:11:28

Maybe there was a stripe-eratops or a spotty-o-saurus!

0:11:280:11:31

Next, some dinosaurs had skulls that were as long as a car.

0:11:330:11:38

What a honking fact!

0:11:380:11:40

But even though they were such huge creatures,

0:11:400:11:43

most dinosaurs had tiny brains.

0:11:430:11:46

Like the Stegosaurus,

0:11:460:11:48

who was the size of a bus but had a brain no bigger than a lemon.

0:11:480:11:53

Definitely not a brainy-o-saurus!

0:11:530:11:57

Next, the word dinosaur means "terrible lizard".

0:11:570:12:01

That sounds like a tall tale.

0:12:010:12:03

Dinosaurs didn't look much like lizards.

0:12:030:12:06

In fact, scientists now think that velociraptors

0:12:060:12:09

were covered in feathers and about as big as a turkey.

0:12:090:12:13

-Gobble, gobble!

-But watch out -

0:12:130:12:15

those little legs could travel as fast as a car.

0:12:150:12:18

Maybe that's why velociraptor means "speedy robber".

0:12:180:12:22

And finally, dinosaurs were one of the first creatures to use toilets.

0:12:250:12:30

Let's flush out the truth.

0:12:300:12:32

Millions of years ago,

0:12:320:12:34

dinosaurs shared the spot where they did their business.

0:12:340:12:37

They pooped in the same place to mark out their land

0:12:370:12:41

and keep other dinosaurs away.

0:12:410:12:43

Researchers now this because they found lots and lots of dino dung

0:12:430:12:47

clung together in fossils in South America.

0:12:470:12:51

The collection of poop was so large that it was deposited in a museum.

0:12:510:12:56

A POO-seum!

0:12:560:12:58

Fact.

0:12:580:13:00

# The Let's Go Club Let's go! #

0:13:020:13:05

It's Excellent Experiment time

0:13:050:13:07

and I'm going to be making a fizzy lava lamp.

0:13:070:13:12

All you need is a clear plastic jar...

0:13:120:13:14

..which you are then going to fill half full of cooking oil.

0:13:170:13:21

Next, add some water, while leaving some space at the top.

0:13:280:13:33

Next, pop in some food colouring.

0:13:340:13:37

Remember, food colouring can stain

0:13:400:13:42

so you may want to wear an apron, like me!

0:13:420:13:45

Next, for the fizz, add one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda...

0:13:450:13:51

..and watch your fizzy lava lamp.

0:13:530:13:56

You can use any colour you like

0:13:560:13:58

and if you shine a torch behind your lava lamp, watch it glow.

0:13:580:14:03

It looks great! Hopefully, that's inspired some of you to have a go.

0:14:050:14:10

Head to the website for more info

0:14:100:14:12

and send us a snap of you and your fizzy lava lamp.

0:14:120:14:15

Some of you have already tried our clubhouse activities,

0:14:150:14:18

from Excellent Experiments to Super Skills

0:14:180:14:21

and Quick Tricks to Table Tops.

0:14:210:14:23

Let's see what you've been up to.

# The Let's Go Club Let's go! #

0:14:260:14:29

Lots of you were inspired by our Children In Need bake sale.

0:14:290:14:33

Like Sadie, who has made an egg-free strawberry sponge cake.

0:14:330:14:38

Emily is very proud of her princess cakes,

0:14:380:14:42

which she helped to bake.

0:14:420:14:44

Bella loved baking chicken and tomato smiles

0:14:440:14:47

for her family for dinner.

0:14:470:14:49

And Nene has made her favourite Nigerian meat pies,

0:14:490:14:53

kneading, rolling and cutting the dough.

0:14:530:14:56

Dee-lish!

0:14:560:14:58

Here is Kayla, with Bobby the rabbit.

0:14:580:15:00

They love watching the Let's Go Club together.

0:15:000:15:03

And Isla has made this brilliant triple-decker wristband.

0:15:030:15:07

Welcome to the club, Isla!

0:15:070:15:09

Don't forget to head to the website

0:15:090:15:12

to see more of your brilliant send-ins. Here's some Let's Go-ers
