Welcome to a ROARsome Let's Go Club.

Today's club is jam-packed full of dinosaur fun.

Let's Go-ers Jamie and Adam

go fossil hunting and see a giant dinosaur footprint.

We've got a dinotastic Super-size Showdown.

And I'll be showing you how to make a fantastically fizzy lava lamp.

-Hi, I'm Jamie.

-And I'm Adam.

Today, we're going to go looking for fossils.

BOTH: Let's go!

-This is Will.

-He knows everything about rocks and fossils

so he's going to show us how to be fossil hunters.

Hi, Jamie, hi, Adam. I've got a really special rock.

-There's something here. Can you see it?

-Is it a footprint?

It's a footprint? Can you see these footprints here?

One, two, three toes. They're dinosaur footprints.

Where do you think it came from?

The dinosaurs leave the footprints on the beach

and then they stay there for a long time and turn into this rock.

That's right, after the dinosaur made it in the soft sand,

it turned into rock, really deep,

and ended up in the top of the cliffs in the yellow rocks

at the top, dropped onto the beach, and we find them as fossils.

It's 165 million years old.

We're going to look at fossils from the bottom of the cliff

that are even older.

-Can we look for fossils now?

-That's a really good idea.

I've got special kit for you guys. A bucket each.

One for you, Adam. One for you as well, Jamie.

And I've also got a really nice checklist

with some pictures of the fossils we might find.

These are the fossils of seashells that used to live in the ocean

that once covered all of where we are today.

-Which rocks have fossils in?

-Great question.

We need to find some of the grey rocks on this page.

They might have the fossils in them.

Sometimes outside, but quite often inside.

If you find any grey rocks with lumps or bumps, funny shapes,

put them in your bucket and we'll have a look at them.

-Oh, what have you got, Jamie?

-I found this fossil.

See the heart shape here? This is one we call a bivalve.

Can you find bivalve on your checklist, guys?

Look at this one. This is really nice.

This is a coiled-up one we call an ammonite.

You see this one on your tick list?

When it was alive, a squid lived at this bottom end of the shell,

swimming around in our ocean.

Sometimes, some fossils are still hidden inside the rock.

So can we smash one of them open?

We could split a rock open, see if there's anything inside?

-Yeah.

-'Splitting rocks can be dangerous

'and should only be done by a grown-up.'

So you see some of the shell here, yeah?

-Yeah.

-This is the coiled ammonite.

You can see the coil quite nice on that one, the spiral.

'We're making notes about what we find.

'I'm drawing a picture of my fossil.'

These fossils are belemnites.

This rock is a bit big to carry off the beach so what can we do?

Take a picture of it.

Great idea. Here you go - over to you.

'Some fossils are in the ground

'but we can still remember them by taking a photo.

'And I'm making a rubbing of this fossil.'

It's time for the best thing about fossil hunting -

-hot chocolate time! What do you say?

Now, it's time to really big up the fun.

And today's showdown is a dino special.

It's going to be ROARsome.

Oh, yes, and our Let's Go-ers getting their teeth into our game

are fearless. They are Georgia, Imam, Connor and Sophie.

And on the red team, we have Ethan, Precious, William and Maisie.

The aim is to collect the last four puzzle pieces

along the course to complete your giant dinosaur picture.

They can be hidden anywhere on the course,

and watch out for those dinosaur bones.

Let's see what you've got to tackle.

First, slide down Lizzie's Slippery Slide.

Then search for a puzzle piece inside the giant inflatable maze.

Next, onto Martin's Messy Muddle.

And this is definitely my favourite part of the showdown.

What each team has to do is get through

these slimy tunnels of gunge,

but they must not forget the missing puzzle pieces

on the way through. Once they've done that,

it is onto Abe's Big Ball Pool Bonanza.

So dive in and look for the third puzzle piece,

which will be hidden underneath all of these.

Once you've got that - Joanna's Jump And Grab.

You need to reach up and pull the ropes to get the puzzle piece.

But beware - these buckets are full of slime and confetti.

The two teams need to work together to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

The team that does this first are the winners.

Time to play in a big, big way.

Are you lot ready?

OK. Three, two, one, let's go!

First down Lizzie's Slippery Slide are the Blues.

And under, and under. Under you go.

Find your piece. Come on.

It's even stevens into Martin's Messy Muddle.

But the Blues tunnel into the lead.

But Reds have clawed it back.

And they leap together into Abe's Big Ball Pool.

Blues are in front again.

And that's a giant gunging!

That's it. But where's the puzzle piece?

Get your puzzle.

There's nothing between the teams

as they race to finish the final jigsaw.

Who's going to win?

But the pieces aren't easy to place.

And the blue team have done it.

Stop it. We've done it.

Fact fans, today, we're finding out all about dinosaurs.

Super-sharp claws, gigantic jaws,

scales and spikes

and teeth that bite.

Flying, soaring, plodding, roaring.

Feathers and horns, some small, some long.

The fiercest creatures, now gone forever.

Let's get to those facts.

First up, nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were.

I di-know!

Dinosaur remains have been found in rocks called fossils.

But their colour didn't keep after being buried in rocks

for millions of years.

People weren't alive at the same time as dinosaurs,

so no-one could take a dino photo to remember their colours.

Maybe there was a stripe-eratops or a spotty-o-saurus!

Next, some dinosaurs had skulls that were as long as a car.

What a honking fact!

But even though they were such huge creatures,

most dinosaurs had tiny brains.

Like the Stegosaurus,

who was the size of a bus but had a brain no bigger than a lemon.

Definitely not a brainy-o-saurus!

Next, the word dinosaur means "terrible lizard".

That sounds like a tall tale.

Dinosaurs didn't look much like lizards.

In fact, scientists now think that velociraptors

were covered in feathers and about as big as a turkey.

-Gobble, gobble!

-But watch out -

those little legs could travel as fast as a car.

Maybe that's why velociraptor means "speedy robber".

And finally, dinosaurs were one of the first creatures to use toilets.

Let's flush out the truth.

Millions of years ago,

dinosaurs shared the spot where they did their business.

They pooped in the same place to mark out their land

and keep other dinosaurs away.

Researchers now this because they found lots and lots of dino dung

clung together in fossils in South America.

The collection of poop was so large that it was deposited in a museum.

A POO-seum!

Fact.

It's Excellent Experiment time

and I'm going to be making a fizzy lava lamp.

All you need is a clear plastic jar...

..which you are then going to fill half full of cooking oil.

Next, add some water, while leaving some space at the top.

Next, pop in some food colouring.

Remember, food colouring can stain

so you may want to wear an apron, like me!

Next, for the fizz, add one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda...

..and watch your fizzy lava lamp.

You can use any colour you like

and if you shine a torch behind your lava lamp, watch it glow.

It looks great! Hopefully, that's inspired some of you to have a go.
