0:00:540:00:58

for a seaside spectacular.

0:00:580:00:59

We'll be meeting some Let's Goers who tell us what

0:00:590:01:02

it's like to live on an island.

I'll be making rainbow sandcastles in this week's quick trick

0:01:340:01:35

Let's go!

0:01:400:01:41

-Hello. I'm Kirsten.

-I'm Euan.

-I'm Hannah.

0:01:410:01:46

And this is Mum and Dad.

0:01:460:01:48

And we live on this island.

0:01:480:01:50

THEY GIGGLE

0:01:560:01:58

We have to wake up very early to get ready for school.

0:01:580:02:02

-Mornings are really busy in our house.

-Thanks, Dad.

0:02:020:02:06

We're always rushing around.

0:02:060:02:08

Hurry up, you'll be late for school.

0:02:110:02:14

Our friends Catriona and James also come to school with us.

0:02:180:02:21

But before we go to school we have to do something very different.

0:02:210:02:25

Come with us and we'll show you.

0:02:250:02:28

We have to get on the boat.

0:02:330:02:36

It's a real fun way to get to school

0:02:400:02:43

but sometimes it can be a bit bumpy.

0:02:430:02:46

Living on an island makes it a bit tricky getting out and about.

0:02:460:02:50

There used to be a school here but now children who live on

0:02:520:02:58

the island have to go to school on the mainland because it closed.

0:02:580:03:03

We're not on the boat for long. We always get to school on time.

0:03:040:03:10

See you after school.

0:03:100:03:12

At the end of the day, we have to catch the boat back home.

0:03:190:03:24

But if we need any shopping,

0:03:260:03:28

we have to get it before we go back to the island

0:03:280:03:32

because there's no shops on the island.

0:03:320:03:35

What did we need to get today?

0:03:350:03:37

Milk, toothpaste, and ham for my sandwich.

0:03:370:03:42

On the way home, the boat is really busy.

0:03:480:03:52

There are even dogs on the boat today.

0:03:520:03:56

It's not long before we're home again.

0:03:560:03:59

We love living on an island because there's so much stuff to do.

0:04:010:04:06

When we're not at school, we like to visit our granny, Cathy, and

0:04:060:04:10

our grandad, Arthur, who live on the island too.

0:04:100:04:14

Cow! Ow!

0:04:150:04:17

They have a farm with lots of animals.

0:04:170:04:20

We help give the cows some food

0:04:200:04:23

and we call the sheep to feed them too.

0:04:230:04:26

Hey! Giddy-iddy-iddy!

0:04:260:04:28

Here, Duckie.

0:04:370:04:40

I like the ducks that live here too. Duckie.

0:04:400:04:43

There are lighthouses on the island as well.

0:04:460:04:50

They have bright lights at the top and help to warn boats

0:04:500:04:54

if they are near danger.

0:04:540:04:56

Because we live on an island, there is lots of beaches to visit.

0:04:590:05:04

Today we're helping to bag the bruck.

0:05:120:05:15

Bruck is rubbish that washes up on the beach.

0:05:150:05:18

Bruck can be big or small.

0:05:180:05:20

We do this every year because it's good to keep the beach clean

0:05:200:05:25

and tidy, so that we can all enjoy it.

0:05:250:05:28

Living on the island is so much fun.

0:05:310:05:34

We hope you liked seeing where we live. This is what we do.

0:05:340:05:39

-# The Let's Go Club

-Let's go. #

0:05:390:05:42

Thanks, guys, for showing us what you do.

0:05:450:05:47

It must be so much fun to live on an island. The sound of the sea!

0:05:470:05:51

I loved the sheep feeding the best. They are so woolly!

0:05:510:05:55

-Yeah, but you're BAA-rmy about animals, Lizzie.

-Oh...

0:05:550:05:58

And you Let's Goers have been flocking to the website to show us

0:05:580:06:02

what you like to do too.

0:06:020:06:04

Let's Goer Olivia loves her rabbit, Rosie Snugglebottom.

0:06:040:06:08

She made her own wristband. Welcome to the club, Olivia.

0:06:080:06:11

Meet brave Let's Goer three-year-old Winnie.

0:06:110:06:14

Even after breaking her elbow,

0:06:140:06:17

she's still been practising the club dance.

0:06:170:06:19

This is six-year-old Shayan who has made a super rainbow salad in a jar.

0:06:190:06:25

Yummy!

0:06:250:06:26

Check out five-year-old Heather riding her cool cart.

0:06:260:06:30

Pedal power, Heather.

0:06:300:06:32

Five-year-old Jazzi has been practising the running man

0:06:320:06:36

cool move. Looking good, Jazzi.

0:06:360:06:38

And this is William and his brother George.

0:06:380:06:40

They met the Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, who won a silver medal.

0:06:400:06:44

Let's Golympics!

0:06:440:06:46

Super send-ins, everyone. Thank you.

0:06:460:06:49

And keep your pictures and videos coming.

0:06:490:06:51

We want nothing more than for you to get in touch and be part of

0:06:510:06:55

-the club.

-Yup, just grab a grown-up,

0:06:550:06:57

go to the CBBC website and look for the Let's Go Club.

0:06:570:07:01

It's time to big up the beach fun, it's the super-size showdown.

0:07:070:07:12

CHEERING

0:07:120:07:14

Joining me, I have Andy and Rebecca from the CBeebies house. Hey, guys.

0:07:140:07:19

-Hi, Abe.

-We can't wait to get messy.

-Excellent, right, well,

0:07:190:07:23

get to your stations whilst I introduce the two teams.

0:07:230:07:26

On the red team we have John, Ben, Alysia and Leighton.

0:07:260:07:30

-Show us your game faces, guys.

-Argh!

0:07:300:07:33

And on the blue team we have Ella, Alenie, Kalichi and Ruby.

0:07:330:07:37

-Show us what you've got, guys!

-Argh!

-Excellent.

0:07:370:07:40

The aim of the game is to collect four puzzle pieces

0:07:400:07:44

like this and put them together to make a picture.

0:07:440:07:47

These puzzle pieces could be hidden anywhere along the obstacle course.

0:07:470:07:51

Let's take a look at what you've got to tackle.

0:07:510:07:54

The first step is to slide down Lizzie's slippery slide.

0:07:540:07:58

Search for the puzzle piece in the giant inflatable maze.

0:07:580:08:01

Next, the wriggly, wiggly tunnels.

0:08:010:08:03

Our teams have to crawl through our slimy gunge tunnels

0:08:030:08:07

to find their puzzle piece. Once they've found it,

0:08:070:08:10

-it's on to Andy's big ball-pool bonanza.

-Thanks.

0:08:100:08:13

This is where they'll find the third piece.

0:08:130:08:16

They're hidden under the beach balls - then it's on

0:08:160:08:19

-to Joanna's jump and grab.

-Cheers, Andy.

0:08:190:08:22

Reach up and pull the ropes to find the puzzle

0:08:220:08:24

piece but, beware, the buckets are full of surprises and slime.

0:08:240:08:28

The teams need to work together to complete their jigsaw puzzle

0:08:280:08:32

and the first team to do this are the winners.

0:08:320:08:35

-It's time to play in a big, big way. John, Ruby, are you ready?

-Yes!

0:08:350:08:39

OK. Three, two, one, let's go.

0:08:390:08:43

Come on, everyone.

0:08:430:08:44

The Let's Goers are off to a flying start.

0:08:440:08:48

-Keep it going.

-The blue team are just ahead down the slippery slide.

0:08:480:08:52

Come on, Ella. Oh, she's right through there.

0:08:520:08:55

-Oh, she's in the gunge tunnel. Come on, Ella.

-Slime time.

0:08:550:09:00

He's catching up. Has he got the puzzle piece? Come on, Ella.

0:09:000:09:04

-Oh!

-What a dive!

0:09:040:09:06

Go on, find the puzzle piece, find the puzzle piece.

0:09:060:09:09

Go on, Alenie, you can do it. Get in there, find the puzzle piece.

0:09:090:09:14

Where is it? Where is it? That's it. Find it.

0:09:140:09:17

Keep it going.

0:09:180:09:20

Great gunging.

0:09:230:09:25

Come on, come on.

0:09:260:09:28

-That's it.

-Just the jigsaw to finish. Put your puzzle together.

0:09:280:09:33

Yes!

0:09:330:09:34

Stop! I think...

0:09:370:09:40

-it's a draw!

-Yeah!

0:09:400:09:44

Let's see what you've got.

0:09:440:09:46

-Argh!

-Excellent.

0:09:460:09:49

Right, I think it's safe to say that we've got sand everywhere.

0:09:490:09:53

But do you know where sand comes from?

0:09:530:09:56

# Where does sand come from?

0:09:560:10:01

# When you're playing on a beach in the summer sun

0:10:030:10:06

# Making sandcastles till the day is done

0:10:060:10:09

# Do you ever think where did all this come from?

0:10:090:10:13

# Well, I'm going to tell you and this will be fun

0:10:130:10:16

# You see, the wind and the rain would help the grain get delivered

0:10:160:10:20

# When it washed to the beaches, down all the rivers

0:10:200:10:24

# This was 5,000 years ago or so, oh-oh-oh

0:10:240:10:31

# Where does sand come from?

0:10:310:10:36

# Everybody knows where you see sand the most

0:10:410:10:44

# You get a little by the lakes but loads on the coast

0:10:440:10:47

# Cos erosion from the weather beats the rocks above

0:10:470:10:51

# And the waves smash the shells to make the beaches we love

0:10:510:10:55

# Desert sand is different cos there's no seaside

0:10:550:10:58

# The lack of water makes the soil oh-so-dry

0:10:580:11:01

# Soil and rock gets broken up, guess what is left behind

0:11:010:11:05

# It's sand

0:11:050:11:09

# That's where sand comes from

0:11:090:11:14

# There are beaches so unique, I've got to speak about and teach ya

0:11:160:11:20

# Every beach is different with its own special features

0:11:200:11:24

# Beaches in Bermuda are pink, how terrific!

0:11:240:11:27

# And lava makes Hawaiian beaches black by the Pacific

0:11:270:11:31

# Sand is super special and it's useful stuff

0:11:310:11:34

# Like for sandpaper when you smooth down something rough

0:11:340:11:37

# There's so much sand, you couldn't count it if you tried

0:11:370:11:41

# But not as many grains as there are stars in the sky

0:11:410:11:44

# Stars are in the sky. #

0:11:440:11:50

Not as many grains of sand as stars in the sky? That is amazing!

0:11:530:11:57

We're enjoying a walk along the sand with our animal friends.

0:11:570:12:01

-So, Amina, what is your donkey called?

-My donkey is called Fifi.

0:12:010:12:05

Fifi. And what does Fifi feel like?

0:12:050:12:07

Fifi feels very soft and fluffy.

0:12:070:12:10

And she is almost as cuddly as a toy.

0:12:100:12:14

-Alfie, what's your donkey called?

-He's called Paddy.

0:12:140:12:18

What's your favourite thing about Paddy's look?

0:12:180:12:21

-That he has funny hooves.

-Funny hooves.

0:12:210:12:23

Yeah, the things that protect their feet.

0:12:230:12:26

Both of you, do you think you can give me a donkey impression?

0:12:260:12:30

-Ready? Three, two, one... ALL:

-Eeyore!

0:12:300:12:32

Brilliant!

0:12:320:12:34

Well, I think Paddy and Fifi are super

0:12:340:12:36

and so are your summer Send-Ins.

0:12:360:12:38

This is four-year-old Elsie

0:12:380:12:41

singing a song called Flowers In The Garden

0:12:410:12:43

on a home-made ukulele.

0:12:430:12:46

What a pretty ditty!

0:12:460:12:48

Meet brothers Orlando and Gus who love jumping as high as they

0:12:480:12:52

can on their trampoline.

0:12:520:12:54

Boing, boing!

0:12:540:12:56

Here's Chef Let's Goer Jayden cooking up a feast.

0:12:560:12:59

Nom nom!

0:12:590:13:00

Meet Caitlin on her favourite pony Smudgy.

0:13:000:13:04

We love your super smile, Caitlin.

0:13:040:13:07

And here are brothers Archie and Finley,

0:13:070:13:09

who are waiting for the tide

0:13:090:13:12

to fill their sandcastle moat with water.

0:13:120:13:14

What a sea-rific sandcastle!

0:13:140:13:17

-# The Let's Go Club. #

-Let's go!

0:13:180:13:21

I love making sandcastles.

0:13:240:13:27

But have you ever seen a colourful sandcastle?

0:13:270:13:31

Well, in today's Quick Trick, I'm going to show you how to make one.

0:13:310:13:35

For this Quick Trick, you will need...

0:13:350:13:38

some small buckets, food colouring

0:13:380:13:41

and a big bucket and spade to build the castle.

0:13:410:13:44

First, fill some buckets with sand

0:13:440:13:46

and add the food colouring,

0:13:460:13:48

one colour in each bucket.

0:13:480:13:50

Food colouring can stain so you could wear some old clothes.

0:13:500:13:54

Now it's mixing time.

0:13:540:13:55

Keep mixing until the sand gets nice and colourful.

0:13:550:13:59

When you've got your different coloured sand,

0:14:000:14:03

it's time to make your sandcastle.

0:14:030:14:06

Put some of the coloured sand in the big bucket.

0:14:060:14:10

Shake the bucket to keep the sand even.

0:14:100:14:13

Then add a different colour.

0:14:130:14:15

And keep adding different coloured sand until your bucket is full.

0:14:150:14:20

Now find a flat bit of sand and turn your bucket over.

0:14:200:14:25

Let's see if it worked.

0:14:250:14:28

Ta-dah! There you have it, a colourful sandcastle.

0:14:320:14:35

If you've got loads of food colouring,

0:14:350:14:38

you could even make a super sandcastle.

0:14:380:14:41

Why don't you give it a go? And send us a photo to the Let's Go Club.

0:14:410:14:45

Now, it's not just sandcastles you can make on the beach.

0:14:450:14:49

These Let's Goers have been making some very special art.

0:14:490:14:54

-# The Let's Go Club. #

-Let's go!

0:14:570:15:00

I'm Bronte and these are my friends -

0:15:000:15:03

Max, Polly, Dora and Ethan.

0:15:030:15:06

We really like going to the seaside and seeing what we can find.

0:15:060:15:10

Our teacher, Miss Airie came with us, too.

0:15:100:15:13

If you like going to the seaside, here's something you could do.

0:15:130:15:17

We found lots of different things to make a big picture.

0:15:170:15:20

We're going to have to find much, much more,

0:15:200:15:23

so our friends are here to help.

0:15:230:15:25

Let's get finding!

0:15:250:15:28

I found some seaweed.

0:15:340:15:36

I got a plastic bottle.

0:15:360:15:38

This rope is really handy too.

0:15:380:15:41

There's lots of things to find on the beach, like pebbles,

0:15:430:15:48

driftwood, shells and sometimes plastic bottles.

0:15:480:15:52

We've got all the things we need to make the picture.

0:15:520:15:56

Now it's time to get creative!

0:15:560:16:00

The seaweed is working really well in our picture.

0:16:000:16:03

The rope and the bottles need to go here.

0:16:030:16:06

We're nearly finished.

0:16:100:16:12

And once we're done, we'll get shipshape and recycle what we can.

0:16:120:16:17

Can you see what it is?

0:16:180:16:20

We made a boat out of things that you find at the seaside.

0:16:260:16:30

We like to go to the seaside, so we did this.

0:16:340:16:38

Let's go!

0:16:420:16:44

It's time for the Club Dance.

0:16:440:16:46

We're on the beach, so we're having a beach boogie.

0:16:460:16:49

You can join in at home, if you like. Just follow our seaside steps.

We've had such a brilliant time here at New Brighton beach.

0:18:450:18:48

We've been on a donkey ride, built sandcastles and got gungey.

0:18:480:18:52

That's all there's time for.

0:18:520:18:54

If you want to stay in the clubhouse, go to the website.

0:18:540:18:57

Where you can see lots more seaside fun and some talking donkeys.

0:18:570:19:01

We're the club that never closes.

0:19:010:19:03

0:19:070:19:09
