-Let's Goers go deep into the darkness

when they try out caving.

We find out what monsters lie

beneath the waves in the deep blue sea.

Back on dry land, we grow monster tall...

with our super stilts.

And lots of Let's Goers will be throwing shapes

at our monster disco party.

-Hi, I'm Rollo.

-And I'm Avantika.

Today, we're going to try out caving.

-BOTH:

-Let's go!

'Caving is a sport where you get to go underground

'and squeeze through very small gaps in rocks.

'It is very dark and can be cold and wet, too.'

This is Luke. He is an expert at caving

and is going to show us how to do it in a safe way.

Hey, Let's Goers, are you ready to go caving?

-BOTH:

-Yes!

Excellent, great. So you've got all your safety gear on.

Why do we have to wear all these clothes?

Caves can be cold, dark, wet places.

We need these suits to keep us safe and warm.

There's just one more thing we need.

-BOTH:

-Our helmets!

You can never go caving without an adult who is an expert.

-There we go. How do they fit?

-Good.

Now we have all our safety gear on, it's time to go to the cave.

Come on!

So, this is Porth Yr Ogof, which is Welsh for "gate cave".

It looks amazing!

Shall we go explore?

Yeah! The cave looks a bit scary.

It does look a little spooky, but I can't wait to have a look inside.

So, caves are really dark.

Why do you think they are so dark?

Because there's no sunlight.

That's correct! Shall we turn our lights off, just for a few seconds,

-to see how dark it really is?

-OK.

Wow, it's so dark!

It's a good job we're not scared of the dark, Avantika!

So, now you can see why we need torches on our helmets.

Can we go and explore the cave now?

Sure, but there might be a few caving challenges on the way.

Let's go.

Caves are made because acid in rainwater slowly eats away

at the limestone, making a hole.

The hole gets bigger and bigger as time goes by.

The first thing we'll do is crawl through

this tight, little, narrow passageway.

It's called a caterpillar crawl. Who's up for that?

-BOTH:

-Me!

This gap is really tiny.

So, how was that, guys?

That was amazing!

Let's do another challenge.

This way to the letterbox, guys.

So this is the letterbox.

Why do you think it's called the letterbox?

Cos it's shaped like a letterbox on my door.

That's right. Let's see if we can get you through it.

This gap is really tiny.

I can't believe I can get through.

I'm having to make myself flat, like a letter.

Ah, this is so much fun.

We have to make sure we keep our heads turned to one side

so we can get through the letterbox.

Our friend, Mick, is waiting at the other end of the letterbox.

He's a caving expert, too.

We did it!

So this is the ledge, the hardest challenge here.

Are you ready to go?

-BOTH:

-Yeah, let's go!

Good push up on that, mate. There we go.

'The ledge isn't very wide, so I have to feel my way along.'

A bit closer over this way.

'I have to crawl along slowly.'

'It helps me keep my balance.'

'The ledge is really tricky to do.'

'I'm nearly at the end.'

'That was amazing!'

So, you two have been brilliant cavers.

What was your favourite bit?

My favourite bit was the ledge.

And I really enjoyed the letterbox.

Wow, Avantika and Rollo, you were SO brave in that dark cave.

Now, we've got a spooky Quick Trick to show you,

and Martin was supposed to be here,

but I have no idea where he's got to.

Boo! I'm here!

Ha-ha!

Martin, you shocked me.

Well, I thought that was the perfect way to get us in the mood for making

these spooky floating ghosts.

So, what do we have to do?

OK, first, get some paper tissue and cut out a ghostly shape.

OK.

Hmm.

The more ghostly, the better.

OK.

I'm going for a tall, tall ghost.

Oh. Next step is to draw on some eerie eyes and a monster mouth.

Eerie eyes.

Whoop!

Oh, bit wonky.

Oh, got your mouth.

A monster mouth, like that.

Very good. And the final step is to get some sticky tape or some tack...

-OK.

-And put it on top of your table.

All right. I'm going to bring my ghost over to be friends with yours.

-Excellent!

-All right, but they look a bit flat,

so how do we make them fly?

Well, that's where the balloon comes in.

-Ah!

-What you have to do is, you can rub it on your jumper.

I'm going to use you here, Joanna. I hope you don't mind.

-No, go for it.

-Or you can rub it...on your hair.

And what that does is...

Going to take a little bit of time with this,

because the longer you rub it on your hair, or on your jumper,

the better your ghosts will float, like this.

-Wow!

-See it?

They really are ghosts, aren't they? See?

Ah, really spooky!

Well, from spooky creatures

to ones which can be found in oceans all over the world.

Let's dive in and discover more.

First up, there is twice as much ocean on earth as dry land.

That sure is a lot of seaside.

The seas and oceans cover so much of the planet that,

from way out in space, the Earth looks like a big blue marble.

All that water means a lot of sailing

and, on old maps of the oceans,

sea monsters were drawn to show places that hadn't been explored.

You wouldn't want to bump into them during a seaside paddle!

Next, a blue whale's tongue is as big as an elephant.

Who would have trunk it?!

Blue whales are the largest animals ever to have lived on our planet.

They might have a giant tongue, but whales don't have any teeth,

and they eat the tiniest of sea creatures,

little critters called krill.

When it comes to being a big mouth,

the blue whale has got it licked.

Next, some oceans are heavier than others.

I'll take that with a pinch of salt!

All sea water has salt in it that has washed into the ocean from rocks

on land. But some oceans have more salt than others,

and the saltier the water, the more it weighs.

What's super about salt is, the more that's in the sea,

the easier it is to float in...

SHIP SOUNDS HORN

..and that should really float your boat.

And finally, in the deep, dark ocean,

there are fish that make their own light.

Sounds a bit fishy to me!

These fantastic bright sparks have a special part of their body

that glows and shines.

The light makes it easier for the fish to catch food,

hook up with their friends or scare off other sea creatures.

Some shimmery swimmers can even flash their lights on and off.

Anyone for a dance at the underwater disco?

OK, so what do we do?

You stand onto the stilts,

you hold on to the strings,

and then you lift your feet and your hands up at the same time.

Amazing! Is there any technique?

Just make sure you stand up nice and straight and pull on the strings.

Ha-ha! That looks so cool, guys!

You've really got it.

You're like professionals.

Shall we walk backwards?

Let's see if you can turn round and face me.

Is this how you learned to walk on the stilts?

When I started out, I learned on little stilts, just like those.

How much practice did it take to get on the big stilts?

On the big stilts, you have to do

lots of practice when you're learning.

Did you ever fall off the stilts?

I HAVE fallen off, but I wear...

..kneepads, so it was all OK.

Oh, that's a good job.

I've cut out some sharp teeth so I look like a vampire.

While our costumes dry,

we can go and get the frightening dance floor ready.

You can't have a monster party without cobwebs and spiders.
